Mr. Sunil and his wife made me feel at home. He came to pick me up with his Tuk Tuk and the next day he took me around the most beautiful places and Temples. I have visited the area Thanks to Sunil and known many stories of Life and culture including about the Tsunami. The House and the beautiful garden have very beautiful vibrations of Love and care. The rooms are big with comfortable beds. The beautiful beach is Just across the Road. I want to go back and stay longer.

I stayed for 14 days with this wonderful family in 1984. I remembered them as inclusive and helpful, so I looked them up again and found Shammie Guest House now 39 years later. Then as now they fixed everything possible for us. Sunil drove me around in his Tuk Tuk to his friends around Hikkaduwa who have something exciting to offer. Example, a friend runs an organic farm in the nearby mangrove forest. Here I first saw a varan of approx 1m among crabs and fish, I thought it was cool until Sunil almost stepped on the tail of a varan that was bigger than me a fantastic experience. This is a family that does its best to make your stay a good one. Location is perfect in a quiet area with a short distance from the center of Hikkaduwa. I got the best breakfast of our entire 4-week trip, based on the fact that I asked for a little variation from what is the usual breakfast when traveling around. Perfect for families with small children sinc the whole outside area is closed by wall and a closed gate.
