This was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience, made even more special by the kindest, sweetest host. Thank you, Pak Ketut, for everything. From carrying our bags to welcoming us with generous snacks and drinks upon arrival (and again the next day), every detail was handled with such care. The dinner and breakfast he prepared were some of the best meals we’ve ever had. Nothing was too much trouble—including arranging our transport to our next destination.
We can’t recommend this place highly enough. If you’re visiting Nusa Penida, you HAVE to stay here. The breathtaking views, the peaceful connection to nature, and the chance to truly unplug made it unforgettable. The zip line was an absolute highlight for us!
This place exceeded every expectation while still providing everything you could possibly need. It is remote, and there’s a short hike over uneven ground from the road, but it’s more than worth the effort.
Nothing.

It covered two of our basic needs: safety and food. When we arrived, it was already night (10pm) and we were in the forest in total darkness with not a single person around. When we called and asked to be met, a wizard came out of the forest, gave us his lantern and led us through the forest and mountains to our tree house and gave us lots of snacks (I think he gave us food for the amount we paid for the whole stay). And despite the forest, we weren't bothered by insects in the cabin.
The coolest thing is the zip line at check out, I think it's the best video from my entire trip
There is indeed a common toilet and shower, but... in the shower the pressure is so small that you barely have enough to wash your hands (in the sink on the street the pressure is even more). But this is all understandable, because the hotel is in an inaccessible place, where it is very difficult to get water, and this is its advantage. And both toilets are infested with ants, and personally I was scared to use them, but in the morning I didn't care anymore.

The place the owner built with his bare hands is absolute bliss. The serene quietness accompanied by faint temple music from far away made it feel like i was staying in a monastery. I enjoyed my morning coffee watching the sunrise from the right handed side of the tree house veranda and enjoyed a bintang watching the sunset on the larger left side veranda. The window from the treehouse opened up to a vast beautiful landscape. You could see everywhere from there. Even the Gili islands on a clear day. The owner was above and beyond kind. Me not driving a scooter i found myself a bit trapped as i couldn't go buy necessities or explore that much so the owner took me out for dinner a few times on his scooter. Like who does that? Such a kind loving man who's built a beautiful getaway up in the mountains. There's complementary coffee, tea and sweets, a water dispenser that has both hot and cold options (not tap run). You have the option to book a sight seeing tours which were breathtaking. This place is very rustic so do not expect wifi or flashy hot water showers. This is a place to relax, enjoy the breath-taking views and sounds of leaves rustling accompanied by faint distant temple music. One of the most fun aspects of the place was using the zipline to get down to the road, which scared the living crap out of me at first haha but i grew to love it. The place is a bit of a hike to get to and it's quite remote so be prepared when arriving. It's worth so so much more than what you pay. Sadly because i don't drive scooter i couldn't stay the full time i booked and i can't believe the owner made it a mission to drive me to the place closer to the harbour on scooter in the pouring rain and rejected when i tried offering him money for the trouble. That man has a heart of gold and anyone staying in this place should consider themselves lucky. This was my first few days ever in Indonesia and i am so happy i chose this place. Thank you again!
A bit difficult to get to without a scooter but that's a me problem haha. Next time i'll be brave enough to get a scooter!

It was a unique experience! I think one night is good enough, it give us some good memories of seeing sunrise and zip wire back to the parking where we left our bike when check out
Too many mosquitos, ants and other insects

When you go to 'rumah Pohon Tree house', this is not the accomodation where you booked, although the reviews say otherwise. So be careful for this.
We sent several messages to the accomodation through booking.com and WhatsApp, nobody ever aswered

We stayed for one night and our host Pak Ketut was a really nice person. He greeted us with fresh fruit and made a bonfire for us at night. There are many beautiful villas and fancy places to stay in Nusa Penida, but this experience was very special and unforgettable for me. If you want to feel close to nature and reconnect with the important things in life, I suggest staying here. It was so nice to hear the sounds of nature at night, away from the bustle of the city. I was really impressed by Pak Ketut’s skills to build the treehouse and zip line. It’s such a unique and fun way to get down the jungle. If I go back to Nusa Penida, I would love to stay here again and see Pak Ketut.
Thank you Pak Ketut!

Peaceful, clean environment. Lovely view in night. Fresh air all the time
Secure the windows with grill , tidy up the outer look of the room. Put chain support to open the door partially.

Great views. Fantastic zip line to get back to the car park. Not for the faint of heart!
Very small room. with tiny balcony. Very basic food and drink. (instant coffee, tea, banana and biscuits.) Dirty bathroom and toilet. Like rough camping.

Good view, cable transfer from hotel, very friendly stuff, electricity.
Fresh fruit would fit better in breakfest instead of fast noodles. No wifi.

Nothing. I didn’t stay there and didn’t get back requested money.
Be aware! it’s not that famous tree houses in Nusa Penida!
I was shocked arriving to the point of tree houses with the same name in the late evening just before sunset and didn’t find my booked property. It’s a scam or maybe my mistake. But I got so much stress out of it when I’m the dark needed to search other accommodation. Just don’t do the same mistake!

The staff is really kind and helpful. I was surprised to have a breakfast and welcome snacks. I liked that we only needed to go down via the zipline.
The bed sheets and towel smelled bad, looks like it wasn’t washed properly or was stuck there for a long time.

You have to experience it yourself. The host was waiting for us down the road when we arrived. He showed us his area and really comforted us. When I made the reservation, I asked if they could surprise my girlfriend (it was her birthday). They actually bought a cake with candles and sang for her. Apart from his hospitality, the zipline down was also a nice service.
No mosquito net (wasn’t necessary tho)

Amazing place to get away from it all - very peaceful. Facilities are basic, of course, but that is the point! Impressively clean for being so basic though.
No issues, but a couple of suggestions for others. LImited English spoken so if you want info/to arrange transport etc, probably best to do it at the port before arrival. Also, the road up is rough and hilly - only to be tackled by those very confident on Nusa Penida's roads and best done by daylight!

I was travel with my son. It was his dream to sleep one night on the tree. I didn't had any expectation and was ready for some inconvenient. But I was really surprised about everything.
Of course this is a not traditional stay and looks like mounting camp but you everything what you need there for comfortable night. Good mattress and pillow. Clean shower and toilet. And beautiful view on the ocean and volcano Agung.
My son was very glad about this stay. It was unforgattable night and morning. And zip line and some sweet surprise from the owner make this hospitality like with the Swiss quality)
Thank you very much for everything

Breathtaking view and a very nice and caring host! Thanks for that!! Delicious homemade dinner (fair price) and simple but good brakfast (included).
You have to be aware that you are staying in a simple tree house in the middle of the jungle with basic showers and toilets. Accessibility only by taxi or motorized vehicle. But it is definately worth the adventure! We (2 women) have not felt unsafe at any time...despite being far away from any civilization.
A cotton blanket would be good in addition to the fleece blanket, but no big deal.

Gorgeous view, unique experience, host was so incredibly kind and thoughtful
Challenging road to get there, I didnt feel like driving it in the dark, which limited what I could do during the evening.

We slept three night at this accomodation. The host is an older indonesian guy who built the whole accomodation himself. He is really nice and friendly and does everything to make your stay unforgettable. He makes breakfast en dinner everyday and on request he makes a big campfire in the evening he also arranges scooters and tours for a good price. The accomodation itself is basic but clean. Same goes for the shower and the toilet. Personally this is a must do experience if you come to Nusa Penida. The moments of watching the sunset from your treehouse and then join the bonfire with a bintang are the ones that make travelling great !

Most amazing views to wake up to. we arrived quite late not realising this Rumah Pohon is a little way, away from the port. But the amazing owner lugged our heavy bags up into the rainforest to our room and made us dinner! Definitely recommend this place! So good!
Nothing! Lovely host, yes the rooms are a little shabby but the views make up for it! And it’s a TREEHOUSE!!! (Like sleeping in your childhood cubby house but with rainforest and ocean views!)

This stay is a real adventure! You are submerged in nature and you get to leave the property on a zipline. The beds are really good and there is a cute dog. The host is very nice and helpful.
you have to be in for some adventure, because the road home is dark and the sanitary facilities are really Indonesian ;)
