Punakaiki Beach Hostel

great location and view, felt very homey and well cared for. robert was a fantastic host, told me options i had in the area and things i should see on my travels. will absolutely be back! :)

The property is an amazing beachfront location, making it the perfect place to relax while still being close to Punakaiki main attractions. It was exceptionally clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The shared kitchen was spacious and very well equipped, and the lounge areas were cozy with beautiful ocean views. I also loved the peaceful atmosphere, it was the perfect place to unwind after a day exploring the West Coast. Robert and Eileen were wonderful host whose kindness and genuine hospitality made to stay even more memorable.

There was nothing I didn’t like about the property. Everything was exactly as described, and I had a wonderful day.

Friendly staff, common room, good location to break up the drive towards Nelson. Close to the pancake rocks which is a hidden gem, blowhole is cool to look at!

I shoulda known this but living that close to the beach is very loud at night, bare that in mind if you're a light sleeper! I imagined relaxing waves, but it was moreso roaring winds and vegetation snacking off the cottage! Room also had a bit of a damp wet dog smell on first entry, probably too many beach go-ers in and out. Would be cool if staff could offer milk for tea too like other bookings do when there's a kettle in the room!

Very cozy kitchen and living room. Chill bedroom with sink to brush teeth. Lovely garden and view to the beach that was so close
