Superb

This was an amazing visit in the most fantastic location. Schloba (?) was the sort of host that you no longer find anywhere, extremely kind, good fun and very hospitable. Also a wonderful cook, and really wanted you to have what you wanted. Provided us with so much food for breakfast and dinner (portions too large for even the biggest appetite) that we took leftovers for a packed lunch. We visited in September and stayed two nights, it got chilly once the sun went down, and we were given extra blankets which was so thoughtful. I helped milk the cow the first evening, and we ate the cheese the next day - brilliant!

When we booked this, we didn't realise that you can't drive here, except in a 4 x 4. That said, the road didn't look too bad, and if your car has ok clearance, it is possibly doable; we didn't try. This means that you have a tough 2hr hike uphill 500m elevation gain and 4km. It took us 2 hours from the lake end but we are old and slow!. Also, you need to park at the Biogradska lake, and walk half way round this to the trial head up. You need to pay 5euro per person to access the park (in 2025), but parking was free. The welcome and views once you arrive make this all worth while.

Awesome traditional experience

We loved the remoteness of this place. Only accessible by hiking or 4x4, we were the only guests here. We were warmly welcomed by the host lady and were surrounded by farming activities going on around us. Ask if you can come when the cows are being milked at 7am! It’s very rustic but clean, the shower was very basic but very clean, super hot and great pressure. The food was amazing, and huge portion sizes. We absolute loved it, highlight of our 2.5 month trip so far!

We also liked the fact there was no wifi 😉

Memorable and Unforgettable Experience.

The whole valley where the stay was located was absolutely charming. It was quiet, peaceful and very relaxing. Our host was extremely welcoming and hospitable. She didn't speak much English, but we were able to communicate just fine. The rooms themselves, the chalet and a double cabin, was fine. They were far from fancy, but did the trick. The food was so good, and there was plenty of it! The showers were hot, and the bathrooms were fine.

While the food was absolutely delicious and filling, and we wouldn't have done anything different, we weren't given the price of it before hand. For six adults, dinner and 6/7 beers, it cost 125 euro. So, just be sure to bring enough cash.

Goles is an incredible place with views, amazing food and a lovely kind team

Vinka and Sloba were so helpful and kind. Even with limited English we could communicate the essentials and they were very helpful with directions. The food was incredible and they were able to accommodate my partner’s gluten allergy - they made a whole loaf of GF bread!

Amazing!

The best place we stayed at in Montenegro. Beautiful and calm, nicest host and best food!!! We just loved it there. The 1,5-2 hour hike was harder than we expected (especially with our luggage). But in the end we made it.

An amazing spot to disconnect from the world in a breathtaking nature

Katun Goles is an amazing spot to disconnect from the world. The family run wood-cabins are basic but comfortable and clean. You can take warm showers and get electricity supply (previous years was not the case). The food prepared by our hostess was amazing and very cheap made from home grown vegetable, milk and meat. Special mention for delicious breakfast. The spot is not easy to access but really worth it. Hiking is an option or Jeep Transfer for the lazy ones. Do not try to access with small rental car...

What a peaceful place with exceptional hosts

We really loved our stay. Our hosts were friendly, warm, wonderful people. We were fed exceptionally tasty food, both for our vegetarian and non-vegetarian preferences. The hikes were beautiful; the cozy huts were VERY comfy and warm and clean, and the showers felt great! We are definitely coming back and bringing the littlest member of our family with us, he'll love it there!

Very pleasant people there. You are welcomed with a glass of jus or a cup of tea. Dinner and breakfast are good. We were just surprised that the bungalow were not the same as on the pictures... It is actually more confortable now, but I think we are loosing a bit of the eco village idea.

Еда прекрасна, гостеприимство хозяйки искреннее и душевное. Если вы хотите ощутить скромное обаяние горной Черногории — это именно то место, где вас встретят с теплом. Здесь вы словно попадаете в портал: люди, животные, облака и сама природа находятся в гармонии с реальностью. Дарят ощущение мира и базовых человеческих ценностей. Мир ниже уровня шумов. Ein kleines Stück vom Himmel!

Wir haben eine Wanderung ab Biogradsko See rauf zum Eco Village gemacht, diese war ganz schön anstrengend aber sobald man oben ankommt wird man zu 1000% für seine Anstrengungen belohnt. Die Aussicht ist der Hammer, man fühlt sich wie in einer Filmkulisse von "the sound of music". Wir wurden herzlich von Sloba begrüßt (sie spricht kein Englisch aber irgendwie klappt die Verständigung trotzdem). Bei Sloba fühlt man sich wie bei Oma zuhause! Das Essen war das leckerste Essen was wir in ganz Montenegro gegessen haben, es stillt nicht nur deinen hunger sondern befriedigt auch deine Seele. Wir hatten ein Häuschen mit 5 Einzelbetten die alle bequem waren mit frischen Bettzeug und Handtücher. Alles ist sehr einfach und das Duschhäuschen und die Toiletten erinneren einen an Camping. Aber das macht den ganzen Aufenthalt nur noch abenteuerlicher. Ich war entäuscht das wir nur eine Nacht geblieben sind. Wir würden jederzeit den schweren Anstieg wieder machen um hier übernachten zu können.

Bitte stellt oben auf dem Hang ein Schild auf sodass man direkt weiß wo man hin muss und nicht zu den Nachbar gelockt wird.

Gastvrijheid de stilte en dat alles van eigen land kwam. De omgeving is heel mooi en het uitzicht is fenomenaal. De gastvrouw is heel lief en kan als de beste koken. Samen met dieren daar is dit sowieso een aanrader

Une expérience inattendue mais à vivre obligatoirement

Un très chaleureux accueil par la Babouchka Subba et son petit fils Telly. Le confort est rudimentaire tel qu’on peut l’imaginer en pleine montagne, mais coupés de tout réseau, le calme et la magnifie vue vous apporte une sérénité inégalée. Le repas arrive, en mettant en émoi nos papilles. La quantité et le goût sont au rendez-vous, difficile de finir tout les mets. Notre hôte se plie en 4 pour satisfaire à tout nos besoins, et c’est avec un petit pincement que nous quittons les lieux. Une expérience à vivre
