Apartments Maletic

The apartment was clean and homely with some outdoor space. Location was at the end of a quiet road, very close to the Arena and then a further short walk into the old town of Pula with many cafes and restaurants. The host was very welcoming and provided a map of Pula on which he marked some very useful information (e.g. nearest supermarket, bakery, best beaches etc).

The only thing we didn’t like were the sheets on the bed which had a rough rather than smooth texture.

Apartment - Ground Floor: - Central location of the apartment in Pula is a big plus. - Hosts provided us with a parking space, which was a big bonus, having in mind that parking in downtown Pula is pretty limited and expensive. - Hosts were more than welcoming and hospitable, and easy to communicate with (we arrived later than expected, due to border crossing wait and busy roads, but the owners didn't mind). - The apartment is quite big, well designed and furnished, and well maintained (just as the photos show). - Kitchen is fully equipped.

- The apartment is not on the ground floor, but in the basement (partially below the ground), which makes it a bit gloomy and dark, although enough light is provided. There are outside tables and chares, in the garden, which could improve this matter. - A kind of pump is located in the bathroom, which could be pretty noisy, especially during the night. - Shower cabin could be a bit bigger. - Unfortunately, we had ant raids on two occasions, during our seven day stay, but that could be expected during the summer, with such a dry weather like this year. It didn't bother us, since the apartment was spotlessly clean. Also the host did everything he could to resolve this unfortunate situation.

The location was easy to access, the room was a great size with excellent air conditioning.

The shower was too tiny, and the functional space was taken up by hardware. The blinds didn’t feel like they provided much privacy.

The lovely hosts made us feel most welcome and greeted us on arrival. They live in the property and rent out three apartments within the building. Each has a designated outside terrace with table and chairs. The communal garden is attractive with trees, shrubs, sunbeds and a canopy of jasmine which smelt divine in the early morning and late evening. We stayed in the traditionally furnished below ground apartment with stone walls that kept it cool in the hot weather. There are two entrances both with five steps down to the floor level. It had a sofa bed in addition to a large double bed. The bathroom and kitchenette were both fine with all that is needed. The Roman Arena is only a 2 minute walk to the top level, then down a slope or steps to the old town and waterfront. The main bus station is a 10 minute walk. The supermarket and bakery are a 2 minute walk. All very convenient !

A handrail next to the steps down would be useful for anyone who has walking and balance challenges. Also a little pricey I felt, but of course you pay for the proximity to the Arena !!
