Comfortable, characterful property in Sudurad with variety of outdoor activities.

If you choose to stay on the island of Sipan, this place is a VERY LOVELY option at the Sudurad end, and excellent value for money in what is now an expensive tourist desination (Dalmatian coast). The view from this apartment's patio (no 4) was gorgeous , and so were the grapes on the grape vine (August)! There are no cars in the village (they park to one side), and the car ferry is hidden from view. So it is quiet and quaint. There is a small, clean marina with a few basic boats and beach immediately outside the house - no fishing boats, so you can swim and paddle board on the doorstep. Alternatively it's an easy walk 200m in either direction to two small beaches with roped-buoys. The water temperature is very good for swimming. Guests of the apartments can use two SUP boards, and there are approx 7 sturdy bikes (helmets are also provided). It's whoever's first. There was a newly installed basketball court / Futsal pitch for public use 200 m away (bring your own ball). Walks. The apartment manual includes a phone number for kayak hire (we didn't see this until later), but we found an excellent business operating on Lopud (Adriatic Kayak Tours). The apartment is one of a small number neatly organised within an attractive stone building. The other guests were pleasant and quiet. The apartment was beautifully clean. It had a good selection of utensils in the kitchen, and very good wifi. There was a small convenience store a couple of doors down the path, but be aware that its stock was limited and often low. For example, there was very little fruit and no eggs, and fresh loaves sold out. Sudurad village had a two basic restaurants and a hotel restaurant with much the same food on offer, and 4 bars for drinks. There's no bakery, gelateria or fruit/veg store anywhere on the island. The apartment manual includes a phone number for fruit/veg delivery, but we didn't try it.

There are some things that visitors should be aware of, to avoid disappointment. But I would say that the apartment is very good value despite these issues. The apartment is tight for space and surface areas (eg you can't just throw your suitcase open). There's a simple toastie maker, rather than a toaster. There's a stove coffee pot, but no cafetiere. We wiggled things around. The aircon in the main room is good and strong, but weak in the bedrooms. Windows have good insect screens. A SUP board was missing it's tail fin, and several bikes were permanently out of action with flat tyres when we were there. (there is a very small business offering bike hire nearby which would have been an alternative if we had been bothered). If a storm comes (rare), ferries are cancelled and the convenience store has even less stock. Small boatloads of day trippers visit Sudurad during the day, but they disperse around the bars and souvenir stores and aren't an issue. The stones and rocks can be sharp - so take water shoes for the whole family. Sipanska Luka is more geared up for tourists but is less quaint. It has approx 10 restaurants and a bigger convenience store. It's marina is bigger and busier with larger boats; less suitable for family swimming. There is a beautiful swimming beach up the far end of Sipanska's bay, with a popular bar, a few sun loungers, and a water polo area. The car-free island of Lopud is more tourist-oriented than Sipan. It has a strip of restaurants along a waterfront, a gelateria, several convenience stores including bakeries, souvenir offerings, beach gear for several beaches, a kayak business. It has a very large hotel, attracted by a bit of sand, that seems to support the greater density of businesses. So to sum up - this apartment is a great option. Just take a moment to consider which part of the Elaphiti Islands to base your family. Sudurad is quiet, quaint and pretty with outdoor activities.

Loved the town and its inhabitants. Loved the location of the harbour. Apartment had a perfect private terrace for sitting outside at all times. Brilliant location right by the bars, harbour, village life.

Only minor things - main bedroom right in eves, so hard to get out of one side of the bed. In the second bedroom one of the beds was very squeaky. Shower drained very slowly.

Feels like it's your own! The best host ever!

Radovan (the host) is the best guy on the island! Together with the laid-back mood of the village, his amazing hospitality and friendliness transformed our holiday into a time of perfect relaxation. We loved the atmosphere, the appartment, the food, the sea. Thanks again, Radovan, for everything!

Serenité et beauté

Séjour merveilleux !! La maison est ancienne et magnifique, la plus belle du village, les espaces de chaque appartement sont bien séparés, nous nous sommes sentis comme à la maison, nous n’avions pas envie de partir. La terrasse était très calme avec une sur la mer. Tous les équipements possibles sont disponibles, nous avions des vélos et des paddles à disposition, nous avons énormément apprécié ce geste pour les clients. Des fruits et du vin frais nous attendais dans le frigo, notre hôte nous a gentiment attendu pour nous accueillir. La villa est située au milieu du charmant port et proche des plus belles criques. C’était notre meilleure location en Croatie car les hôtes font tout pour que nous manquions de rien. Merci beaucoup pour ce beau séjour dans votre villa

Sehr schöner Aufenthalt zum Baden und Spazieren

Die freiverfügbaren Paddelboote waren der Hammer, Fahrräder auch toll. Die Kinder waren von den zutraulichen Katzen in der Gegend entzückt. Nähe zum Wasser sehr schön, Anreise auch sehr einfach. Besonders angenehm war auch die Terrasse. Da die Küstenpromenade und weitere Umgebung frei von Autos ist, kann man Kinder ohne Bedenken allein raus lassen. Pizzeria in Sipanska Luka ist bezahlbar und sehr gut. Viele Obstbäume auf der Insel, wenn man mal die Inselstraße läuft findet man Pfirsiche, Feigen, Brombeeren (reif im August) und Äpfel.

Das Schlafzimmer zur Straße ist durchaus Geräuschen von der Straße ausgesetzt - der Besuch der Restaurants ist zwar meistens eher ruhig, es gab während unseres Aufenthalts aber auch eine laute Party am Hafen. Das Apartment ist ein bisschen eng und man sieht einiges an Abnutzungen an Möbeln und Apartment. Das Lebensmittelgeschäft unter dem Apartment ist sehr teuer, der Supermarkt im anderen Ort besser aber auch mit sehr knappen Angebot. Ein Frühstück kann man sich auf der Insel noch kaufen, Mittag- und Abendessen wird schon schwierig. Das muss man besser mitbringen.

Wyjątkowy apartament zarówno dla rodzin gdy chcą pobyć razem, jak i dla par które potrzebują romantycznej atmosfery. Gospodarze to przemili ludzie, którzy zaopiekowali się nami w sposób niestandardowy. Poczynając od przekazania kluczy po organizację czasu. Na miejscu są rowery, supy ale przede wszystkim wyjątkowa była zorganizowana wycieczka motorówką. Wszystkie polecenia restauracji były trafne. Czas spędzony w tym miejscu był zdecydowanie najlepszy podczas podróży przez całą Chorwację.
