Casa Calin

This was a wonderful homestay right in the heart of Crișan — a fantastic central base for exploring the Danube Delta. The room was boutique-style, spotless, and well kept, with air-conditioning and a window with a rustic view. The restaurant had a cozy cabin-lodge feel that made for a great outdoor dining atmosphere. Meals were prepared for all guests, and the cooking was excellent, home-style Romanian cuisine. John and Elena were wonderful hosts, and John kindly helped to arrange a 3-day personal birdwatching tour through the Delta for me, as well as my travel to and from Tulcea. It was truly the experience of a lifetime.

I thought the place was great. If could improve anything, maybe the rooms could have a few more places to hang or set gear.

Die Pension lebt vor allem von der Herzlichkeit, Hilfsbereitschaft und Professionalität des Besitzerpaares, Elena und Jon. Beide haben uns bei so vielen Dingen geholfen - An- und Abreise, der Suche nach bestimmten Bootstouren - auch, wenn wir nicht mit Jon fahren konnten, weil er von einer anderen Gruppe gebucht war - , der Erfüllung bestimmter Essenswünsche, es war einfach großartig. Elena ist eine wirklich tolle Köchin, die mit Fisch mehr machen kann, als in einfach nur in eine Pfanne zu werfen, und sie kann auch vegetarisch kochen - nicht nur Beilagen servieren - wenn es mal kein Fisch sein soll. Wir hatten dann auch noch am letzten Tag das Vergnügen, mit Jon als Bootsfüher doch noch eine Privattour machen zu können, und das hat sich absolut gelohnt. Wir haben nicht nur unheimlich viel gesehen, sondern Jon kann auch im perfekten Englisch alles über das Delta und über die Flora und Fauna erzählen, er kennt sogar alle Vogelnamen auf deutsch!! Die Zimmer der Pension sind sauber und fein, im Garten kann man schön entspannen, und abends direkt am Fluss einen Wein trinken. Wir können Casa Calin nur aus ganzem Herzen jedem empfehlen, der das Delta erleben will.

Everything about this stay was incredible. The place itself is beautiful, the rooms clean and functional and the kitchen area cosy and social. However, the hosts were the main attraction. John and Elena were extremely welcoming, and made our stay all the more special. Elena's cooking and hospitality was fantastic, and John was the most wonderful guide. John was knowledgeable about the area and was able to take us to the most interesting places. He was also able to speak English for our relatives who were also visiting from the UK. We were very impressed. Would highly recommend
