Spacious comfortable apartment in historic area with nice walks

Apartments spacious, well-heated, comfortable, well-appointed and picturesquely located by the river. Dog friendly. Nice location in an area with walks and waterfalls. Swimming pool. Really good soft play area for children.

Lovely relaxing weekend away.

Beautiful location, excellent views overlooking the river Clyde. Waterhouse was of a good size, especially one of the bedrooms. Well equipped kitchen and cleaning products supplied. Lovely walks nearby. Food in the restaurant was very good.

The location was unbeatable. The river was just outside of your window. The cottage was comfortable and had everything you needed.

The only issue is the stairs down to the bedrooms of you have any mobility issues. But it is not a huge issue.

Lovely and festive

Very homely and comfortable. Nice to have the hotel and amenities close by.

Property seemed a bit tired compared to last time. The bed base was broken, we changed it around ourselves, but no one seemed to bothered. Radiator dangerously hanging onto the bathroom wall by a screw thread. Was also scalding hot.

Great location!

Great location near walks, hotel restaurant and pool. Large, spacious apartment with well equipped kitchen. Lovely big rooms and comfy beds. Very clean. Nice views across the river. Having sinks in the bedroom was really helpful. The food in the restaurant was really nice, with a couple of veggie options. Staff were all really helpful and friendly.

We gave feedback at reception that 1 medium saucepan and 3 very small ones meant cooking for a group of adults was more fiddly that it needed to be. Hopefully a couple of large pans have been added. Not a negative as such but we hadn't noticed, in the information provided, that the bedrooms were down a steep step of stairs so may not work for people with restricted mobility. While very clean (other than 2 oily frying pans which hadn't been checked or washed), the property we rented smelled very strongly of dog. We understood dogs were permitted and, while we do love dogs, we had windows open on a cool evening for several hours as the smell was overpowering.. Even two days later the apartment still smelled of dog. Not sure if this was a one off though.

Very comfortable with lovely scenery and walks. staff were friendly and helpful.

Accommodation was close to the hotel and facilities. Fantastic views of the river and wildlife. Swimming pool was a good size and with the sauna and steam room very accessible. Restaurant was good for dinner and the cafe on site was handy for coffee or lunch at a very reasonable cost.

The swimming pool could have been a bit cleaner. dirt was gathering in the corners.

Lovely location, easy to park, friendly staff. We booked a dog friendly apartment which was basic but fine. The apartments are split over 2 levels with a steep staircase, the bedroom was down stairs and the living room, kitchen and bathroom upstairs. Fantastic views of the river Clyde.

The apartment could have been checked prior to arrival, several large dead flies on window sills and floor. It would have been better if the bar had been dog friendly, we had to eat in the reception area with the dog where the tables are really too low to dine. Food was lovely. There is not a local shop to buy anything, nearest in in Lanark, which is a 203 mile drive. As we had a fridge would have been nice to have been given real milk not UHT cartons. They no longer accept payments by AMEX which is a shame.

The bathroom in our Waterhouse (2) very tired and in need of a freshen up bath was all cracked and mouldy silicone, loose sink tap silverfish on floor. Hot water didn’t run in our bedroom 2 of us had to have cold showers on first morning as the sign regarding hot water and boiler was inside the cupboard and not within easy sight. Would of been nice to see some pictures on the walls depicting the properties history also a small information file within the property would be good letting people know what sights to visit and also what things can be seen within the mill area.

Bathroom being upstairs when bedroom downs made it awkward if you needed toilet in the middle of night, but me quite understand the layout could not be altered.

Exceptional

My friend and I came for the weekend with our dogs. We had the deluxe apartment with the private terrace which was perfect for the dogs to run around securely. Beautiful walks and scenery and the accommodation was cosy and comfortable.

The Waterhouse accommodation was lovely. The facilities were great. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Beautiful walks on the doorstep and would highly recommend a visit to the Heritage centre.

Excellent break in a stunning location.

Location absolutely stunning, all staff we dealt with were exceptionally helpful, friendly and polite. We ate in the restaurant on our 2nd night and the food was delicious- best meal I've had in a while! Wonderful short break all round.

The quiet rush of water. The peacefulness and stillness of the area. No rushing around. The history of the buildings and the story of the people who lived and worked in New Lanark.

Incredible views, gorgeous cottage

We both loved the views, which I feel was the main part of our stay. The bedroom was huge too, which was a great plus. I especially liked the TV size for evening chilling. The overall area was well functional, with a modern bathroom and a well-equipped kitchenette. The drawers and cupboards had all the proper amenities you'd require in your own home, even stacked with tea. Nice touch. The cottage also had recycling facilities which I appreciate immensely. Additionally, the bathroom had this lovely soap, and they leave a little sign to let you know it's available for purchase at the hotel! As somebody who loves a good soap, I feel like it's one of the most memorable parts of a stay, so I enjoyed the option to take it back with me.

The cottage is gorgeous both inside and out, but it did strike me a little odd how modern the cottages were. Not necessarily a bad thing, just felt like a mismatch, the marble effect corner tables/radiator just felt out of place, though obviously didn't affect my stay, I just noticed it. The oven wasn't closing properly, and when we tried to use it, it got a little too smokey so we decided best not and headed to the restaurant in the hotel itself (which was lovely). Still, the oven was a tad problematic. Personally I don't like that the bed had two mattresses put together. The seam is very present, maybe fixed with a topper. Again, a personal thing, not sure others would notice and definitely didn't damper my stay.
