Beautiful and spacious seaside villa great for family stays
The villa is spacious, well designed with generous living space and bedrooms. The gardens are beautiful, and it's lovely to sit in the outdoor dining area which perches almost over the water. The water is great for small kids to paddle in at low tide as it is calm due to the barriers out to sea and mostly sandy seabed not rocky. The pool is also good and large at 15m long and there is a decent-sized lawn for kids to run around on. There are also turtles and fish in the various ponds in the gardens. Overall very much recommended for a family stay.
Just a couple of minor niggkes: the bathrooms do not have handsprays on the toilets, which may not bother westerners like me but is a must for Asians like my wife. The food service was not quite as advertised - whilst the staff were able to cook the basics, there was no dedicated chef as such and we ended up ordering in delivery several times. This was no major issue since as in all of Indonesia, there is rapdi delivery service and Candidasa has several good restaurants, but it something to be aware of. Finally, note that there is no beach as such: the water laps directly up against a sea wall and although it's only 50cm deep at low tide, there is no actual dry sand that you can stand on.
