Awful. No help whatsoever with Gary and the staff weren’t helpful at all.

My boyfriend and I stayed and the first night the boiler wasn’t working we could see the air as we breathed. My boyfriend called Gary to which we were forced to wait another hour by 11pm we went to the pub and asked for help we were told to wait 30 minutes so the guy could finish the karaoke machine when my boyfriend said no as we were freezing they begrudgingly helped us. It was not a good experience

Wouldn't recommend
I can't get any contact through to liv retreat but I want this email sent to them Dear Liv Lodge Team,
I am writing to raise a formal complaint regarding our stay at your lodge beginning on 14 February, and to request a partial refund or discount due to several issues that meant our first night was not to an acceptable standard.
Before arriving, we tried to contact reception to inform you that we would be arriving late due to Google Maps giving incorrect directions. Unfortunately, there was no reception available when we called.
On arrival at the lodge, we experienced multiple problems, including:
The hot tub was not working
The TV screen was smashed
The heating was very cold, and there were no clear instructions on how to adjust it (we only managed to resolve this later with help from a neighbour)
There was visible dirt, and several small items were broken
There was no kettle in the lodge, meaning we had to ask the local pub for help
The Wi-Fi connection barely worked, despite being advertised as available
We returned on Sunday night to find that the TV issue had still not been resolved, at which point we were moved to a different lodge. This second lodge was much better, and we appreciated being relocated. However, the night we spent in the original lodge was not to the standard we expected or paid for.
Because of the disruption, inconvenience, and poor condition of the first lodge, I believe it would be reasonable to offer a partial refund or a discount to reflect the issues we experienced.
I would appreciate your response and explanation of how this matter can be resolved.

Unfortunately very disappointing and far from the relaxing break we had expected.
Upon arrival, we were unable to reach anyone as the phone numbers provided were either not connected or went unanswered. There was no one available at reception to assist with check-in, and we were left having to rely on another guest for guidance. When we eventually received the keys, no information was provided about the lodge, the hot tub, or any facilities, leaving us unsure how to operate anything during our stay.
The condition of the lodge itself was concerning from the moment we entered. The decking was extremely unsightly, covered in green residue, and dangerously slippery. The hot tub cover was broken and visibly damaged, which immediately affected both the appearance and usability of an amenity that was a key reason for our booking.
Inside the lodge, we noticed multiple areas of damage including marked walls, damaged doors, and ripped laminate flooring. The lodge was also very poorly equipped. There was no suitable cookware for the oven, no cloths or towels to dry dishes, and only a single roll of toilet paper provided. Overall, the supplies were very basic and insufficient for a comfortable stay.
There were also several maintenance concerns. The sink tap was loose and not properly secured, the toilet roll holder was damaged, and there was an unpleasant smell coming from the fridge. Most concerning of all, we could clearly hear mice in the roof throughout our stay. The scratching and squeaking noises were persistent and particularly noticeable at night, making it difficult to relax and raising serious concerns about cleanliness and hygiene within the lodge.
A particularly alarming incident occurred when the hot tub suddenly went off with a loud bang before completely shutting down. This was followed by a strong electrical burning smell, which was extremely concerning from a safety perspective and left us feeling very uneasy about remaining in the lodge.

Very Disappointed, I would never go back to a Liv retreat it’s not worth the money
Location was really nice
Handles falling off doors, bathroom door did not lock. We didn’t even have a key for the lodge we were staying in. I did book a lodge with 3 bedrooms with a bunk bed but we didn’t get a bunk bed.
Breakfast was also a 2 hour wait
Shop was closed for refurbished so the nearest shop 7 miles away. Things like this are not advertised on the website

They were accommodating as we were 1 day late due to our ferry being cancelled
The hot tub didn’t work - only heated to 27 degrees.
The jacuzzi bath was Luke warm.
It took the heating almost 3 hours to turn on.

The location.

The location was lovely.
Unfortunately, our two-night stay did not meet expectations. Check-in was unwelcoming, and the reception area was unclean and smelled of cigarette smoke. We were given no instructions and found the lodge freezing cold, with no hot water and a leaking boiler on arrival. Although the issue was eventually fixed, we had to clean the water ourselves and lost a significant amount of time.
The hot tub was dirty with leaves and branches, and the porch was slippery and clearly not maintained. There was no Wi-Fi, poor TV signal, and no basic essentials provided such as dish soap or toiletries, despite the kitchen being fully equipped.
While the bed linen appeared clean, overall cleanliness and upkeep were disappointing. We paid £236 per night, which did not reflect the standard of the stay. The on-site pub was cold, and the food was overpriced and poor quality.

Everything about the place a liked,but have to give credit to the staff,Gary,Poppy and Tracy werr all amazing couldnt fault them 1 bit.went there last year round abput same time and was juat as good but this time was ace as Gsry remembered us and felt more personal this deffo going back again soon not waiting another year.
Only thing a can fault which was minor was internet signal but wasnt at all a hinderance and actually made the stay even better as wasnt distracted by my phone so was a blessing in disguise really.lol.

I like the cleanliness it was clean, and the jacuzzi was exceptional, was a lovely stay and liked we could park straight next to our lodge
The property we stayed in needed a bit of maintenance work, hole in the wall near the bedroom, candle wax on the floor near the sofa, chipped sink in the bathroom, tap moved on the sink in the kitchen and the lino flooring was ripped in the bedroom and under the table in the lounge

Not a luxury retreat by any stretch of the imagination.
Broken blinds in both bathrooms so no privacy to use the facilities. Mix up with lodges so I ended up with a man approaching my lodge being intimidating. A dog dedicated in the middle of the pub while I was eating. Staff laughed and joked rather than rushing to clean it up and apologising. Lodge was not clean, hot tub was old and controls worn. Not quiet after 10pm as described, with numerous groups playing music loading til early hours of the morning. Food was pretty poor in the pub to.

The only thing that was good in this property was the Jacuzzi and the river next to the lodge .
We didn’t like that there it’s not signal , not WiFi , there it’s not any TV to watch and it was completely dirty . Kitchen wear it was less then a minimum as that we are family of 4 we needed to share glass . Strange smell in all the lodge and everything was broken as we pay 484£ we expected a bit more .

Got left without no hot water or heating for 5 hours told to put the hobs on for hot air and told they will come back and fix the boiler never shown up my partner had to google the make of the boiler to fix it ourself. Poor service.

The lodge was warm, had a tv in the lounge and in the bedroom which we loved! And the privacy where the hot tub is was excellent
The only issue I can fault is the matteress could be changed the springs could be felt whilst staying we did the both duvets off the singles bed in the other room and popped then on the double bed to lay on just as a padding so we didn’t feel the springs

Hot tub was nice..
The bed was missing boards. The mattresses were worn out when you could feel the springs on all the beds. The tap was leaking and kept beeping. The shower door was broken, the table was unstable. There was no high chair for children. There was no broom to sweep up the water from the hot tub. Etc.

Mix up on arrival so we got given keys to a lodge someone was already in - that is just an oversight.
Lodge we were allocated was very tired, leaking tap, smell coming up from the waste, cupboard hanging off which I fixed myself, fridge lacking shelves as they have snapped off, bed was awful for springs coming through the mattress, hot tub only had a slow speed as it seemed broken on the jet speed, patio area full of algae so very slippy.

Lincoln is lovely
The first lodge we were in, the mattress was like sleeping in pure springs, the hot tub was broke and had beer cans round it from the previous stay. The bathroom lock had been broken and would have cut a child’s hand. The bathroom blinds came down but wouldn’t go back up.
The second lodge we were moved to was bigger and the bed was better, the blinds were broken again. On the Sunday we went out for the morning, when we got back it had been assumed we had left and our hot tub had been emptied. It was refilled but took over two hours, by the time it was ready I had lost interest. I stripped our bed as I always do when I go away and the quilts were stained.

Hot tub was nice and the beds were comfy, the Kitchen and bathroom was a good size and the eating area was comfy
The tall barman didnt get his name but he was lovely he worked the friday night we went it,
The park desperatly needs a handy man who can do little jobs to keep up standards as our gate latch was hanging down as it was only on one screw, Outside bench was screwed down so it couldnt be moved so we had to slide past each other not giving us alot of room, squashed spider on bathroom wall, the whole pub could do with a lick of paint, the benches replaced on the estery as they were broken, plastic drinking glasses for the Hot tubs, instead of glass,
Instructions for the hot tub how to use it as it was accidental we found out how to change the lights, when we arrived checking in was handing the key over and telling us chalet number and that hed had a day and it was on tbe right, and that was it. We went to the pub for tea and having to watch the Chef tear strips off the Barman for making me wait to be served i was there barely a miniute, you dont do that in front of people take them to one side, its unprofressional. I ordered a smash burger it wasent home made or smashed, the food was ok when its being sold as homemade and fresh frozen food doesnt cut it sadly.

Owner is so nice and friendly.
We had lasagne and hunters chicken and they were so good and big portions.
Don't be put off by the negative reviews as we were apprehensive but still went and glad we did !

The weather
The toilet lock was broken and the door keep opening, the door was broken and wouldn't lock bowed, all bedroom walls had black marks all over them, kitchen alot of utensils missing, signal on site was very poor couldn't watch a film, we ask to move into a different lodge that the door locked and personal belongings would be safe the manager told me that she would let me now and didn't get bk to me so kinda ruined being able to go out with my family and leave lodge unertended

Not much, to be honest. While we managed to get through the holiday by going out all day, we shouldn’t have had too.
Location is too remote and onsite pub has no set opening times , so couldn’t trust it. Reception were unaware of opening time so it was very hit and miss.
The road to the resort was not very suitable for cars. A lot of damage could be caused. And has judging by the scratches in the surface.
