Flipper Lodge Hotel - SHA Extra Plus

The location is very central and the staff are low-key, non-intrusive.

On checking out, the security guard (who regularly salutes guests) grabbed my bag and insisted on putting it in the baggage trolley. I much prefer no one else touches my bag to avoid any accidental damage. A prebooked taxi through an old Thai travel agent, with minimal English, across the street arrived early. The hotel security guard already had my bag and was taking it outside. When I went near the taxi, the old travel agent was shouting at me "TIP, TIP, TIP !!!" while pointing to the guard. I responded "I already planned to TIP him. However, I do not like you pressuring me to do so." The old Thai responded "TIP, TIP, TIP !!! Him my friend. I gave the guard some loose change, and he walked away. As I sat in the back seat of the taxi, I quickly turned to observe any interaction between the guard and travel agent. Sure enough, they were grinning at each other. They might just have well high-fived each other. Another foreigner they'll never see again.

I have stayed at this hotel several times and always enjoy coming back. The rooms are spacious, clean, and well maintained. The entire hotel is very tidy and welcoming. The breakfast is good and offers everything needed for a great start to the day. I would especially like to highlight the friendly, helpful, and attentive staff. They always make guests feel welcome and well looked after. Overall, it is a very pleasant place to stay. I look forward to returning and can highly recommend this hotel.
