Shelly and all the staff made us feel very welcome. The food was delicious.
A dripping tap in the bathroom was a bit annoying.

On arrival we had a warm welcome and were able to check-in earlier than expected. The Inn's pub was busy, but the team were very friendly and helpful, and the food smelt amazing. We weren't able to sample the menu due to other activities already planned and as we had booked "Room only." The room was comfortable, welcoming, and spacious. We enjoyed the Nespresso machine especially and the Christmas mince pies were a great touch too! We requested a garden room for ease of access for our dog, and when we asked about the pet package the team brought the following to the room: a dog mattress, bowl and a little package containing a rope toy, treats, and a poop bag. This is a really nice touch and really makes the fee for having your dog in the room really reasonable! We crate our dog over night, and there was more than enough space for this - it was great to have an alternative resting area in the mattress supplied. A great stay and I would happily return and recommend.
There wasn't much not to like. We did communicate to the team that the shower wasn't draining well, but I'm sure this will be rectified. The only other points for improvement are that there was limited parking when we arrived, but if we had arrived closer to the standard check-in times, the lunch run would have ended and more spaces would have been available. There are some storage 'units/areas' near the rooms, which when accessed/used were a bit noisy and made our dog a bit nervous/skittish. These are in no way negatives though and rather advisories.

Towel radiator was on full blast on arrival, so needed to turn it off straightaway. Made the room very hot!

I booked this hotel as a surprise for my dad’s 60th birthday before their cruise, and the thoughtful room upgrade meant a great deal to us.They told me the village was beautiful, the hotel stunning, and the food exceptional. They’ve stayed in many hotels, but said this was the best experience they’ve ever had.Thank you for making my dad’s 60th truly unforgettable. Your kindness created memories they’ll cherish forever.

Lovely village location. Pub had character, food was excellent and staff friendly and welcoming. Lovely cosy room for a short stay.
Bit chilly, but it was a very cold night.

The room was very tastefully decorated, with character, but also well designed, comfortable and clean, with good quality materials. The bathroom looked lovely, clean with attractive tiles and had a good number of shelves and hooks, with good toiletries. Though we were on the roadside, and windows were old and single glazed, it was quiet with very few vehicles using the road late or early. A fridge with fresh milk was a bonus, along with the radio. The food, both for the evening meal and breakfast was of a very good standard, and staff were efficient and friendly. Parking was easy when we visited. The village itself was very quaint.
The fixed showerscreen was inadequate given the strong strength and direction of the shower, which we could not adjust (it was an odd push button arrangement). It was impossible not to get the floor extremely wet, which made the shower less relaxing. Other reviews have mentioned this issue in the room we had.
It was good that there were two cask beers on tap, but they weren't to our personal taste (compared to eg Landlord or London Pride).

Location was convenient for Southampton Airport and surrounding areas.
The accommodation was good and bed / pillows comfortable.
Not enough lighting in room, felt quite dim .
Couldn’t find a switch anywhere for the main ceiling lights.
The outside staircase to the room was quite steep , a bit of an effort for my knees .
Had checked online opening/ closing times for restaurant and bar ( bar was 10pm ) but during our stay we were advised last orders was 9pm .

Room was a converted wooden shed at the back of the hotel which we were told was an upgrade. It was very small although the bathroom was modern and clean.

Lovely village. Nice room. Staff friendly
A bit exxy . Felt a bit like we were squeezed into the restaurant amongst all the Range Rover owning visitors. Think paying hotel residents should be given a bit more special treatment

Dinner and breakfast were excellent
Bathroom was poor. Very small basin, toilet on a shelf which is dangerous and the shower did not have a screen big enough to stop water going on the floor. Stairs up to our room were very steep.

The perfect country pub stay. Great in- room coffee.
Trying to check in just before 6pm and only one staff member who was trying to take bar orders and deliver food and check guests into rooms.

The Peat Spade Inn was a welcome stay after a day spent walking the Test Way, with a powerful shower and a roll-top bath awating us. Our dinner was excellent (we both had Dover sole): far superior to normal 'pub grub'. The staff were friendly and efficient. Breakfast was also high quality, and included smoked salmon. The Inn itself is fishing themed: comfortable and informal.
Although we had a comfortable room with a large bed, we did find navigating the barn door to the bathroom somewhat tricky as it had a habit of coming off its lower track.

Gorgeous location and really lovely facilities. The room was very clean and comfortable, and staff were great. Had lots of little touches that made it feel very luxurious. Breakfast morning after was very tasty.
Minor things like lack of plug sockets on both sides of the bed (there was an extension lead provided). Beds were a little squeaky but still comfortable. Quite steep staircase up to room but with small bags this was ok to navigate.Bedside lamp didn't work which meant it was a little dark.
