The staff were really sweet and helped when the crazy taxi driver from batam ferry terminal locked me in the car and demanded more money than agreed! (try and use gojek or grab for safety when in batam, unfortunately there aren't any in the ferry terminal to the south east of batam) there are some nice warungs and coffee shops nearby, in an interesting part of town with colonial architecture. quite convenient for airport and very convenient for the international ferry terminal.
the room was quite dirty, stains on pillowcases and bedding etc, broken mug, dirty toilet, rats scuttling around in the ceiling but i just kept the bathroom door closed
