St Maur

The hotel is a beautiful architectural building with stunning gardens, palms and an array of well maintained plants. The entrance is Victorian with original features and stunning tiles and sweeping stairwell. There is a tasteful guest bar in a peaceful lounge with views, a full size billiard table sits in another room with a baby grand piano looking out to the stunning gardens. All very grand. The breakfast room lies off the piano room with lovely round rattan themed tables set beautifully. The bedroom had a large balcony with views and a set of chairs and a table. The beds are large clean and comfortable. The bathroom had a huge claw bath with fluffy towels and lovely shower gels all presented beautifully. The tea and coffee is also decaf and replenished daily with lovely biscuits. On arrival there is water and milk in the fridge.The lady who serviced the room was just lovely with lovely biscuits and plenty of milk. Breakfast was just perfect. The selection of fruit was great huge, blueberries, melon, pineapple, prunes, huge strawberries and thick yoghurt. The choices from porridge to my favourite, the Hake cooked beautifully. All a la carte. The staff were so friendly.The lady in the week who gave us breakfast was very helpful and everything was just perfectly thought of for a smooth flowing breakfast. The male at weekend was just lovely. What a pleasant man. The local produce of sausages and deep golden eggs and lots of fresh coffee. Choices of teas and cereal. Best breakfast ever. An added bonus was the owner David who played his beautiful grand piano in the evenings, such a joy. Thank you for a lovely holiday it was a great 5 days. Location, easy to get to the town and there is a bus stop not too far for seeing the island. We got a day rover £11 each return and literally toured the island..

The room we had had a partial sea view and was south facing so when the sun was out was very warm, all the facilities were up to date, clean and rooms were completed to a high standard. Breakfast menu was extensive and varied. Rooms downs stairs such as lounge and full sized snooker table room were excellent place to chill.

Property is about a 15 min walk from town and transport links but we found a flattish route which had sea views some of the way
