Hotel Dùa

We wanted to stay outside the business district and found this hotel on Booking.com. The brand was unfamiliar to me. It is owned by the construction company that built the building. The hotel is around the corner from Formosa Boulevard MRT station, an easy trip after arriving on the Taiwan High Speed Rail from Taipei. We arrived around lunchtime and were told we had been upgraded and a room was ready. The size of the room amazed me, as did the décor and the small touches. Off the lift lobby on our floor was a seating area with views in two directions. The room had several international power outlets, a workspace, a lounging area, an excellent bathroom, and a great king-sized bed. The reception staff were warm and engaging. They took a genuine interest in us as people rather than treating us as clients to be processed. After checkout, while we were collecting our luggage for a late-afternoon HSR, one of the reception staff chatted with me at length about our travels, where we were heading next, and why we chose those places. The buffet breakfast was excellent, with a large variety. I am gluten intolerant and found plenty of options. The buffet bacon sat on bread, so I asked for fresh bacon to be cooked, and they obliged without fuss. Omelettes are made to order. Each day the minibar fridge held two cans of drink, one Coca-Cola and one Sprite, included in the room cost. I highly recommend this hotel. Two tips for the area. First, Formosa Boulevard station: if you want the Orange Line and enter via Entrance/Exit 6, the walkway runs between two separate Oran

Dinner at the restaurant was good, with a few minor slip-ups, such as cutlery not being set and chicken wings arriving without wipes or a finger bowl. I am scraping the bottom of the barrel to find areas for improvement. There is a business lounge with complimentary tea, coffee, and snacks, though it is better suited to meetings than to work. There are no power points near the seats and no tables to work on.

The hotel was beautiful and the staff were good. The rooms were clean, quiet, and with a nice shower. The location is convenient near Formosa Blvd station

I found the bed too firm to sleep comfortably, and the poor sleep really took away from everything else. The hotel did try to help when I asked (they brought an extra blanket that I could put on top of the mattress), but it didn’t make much difference.
