Well equipped kitchen with a cooktop and plenty of bench space. Comfortable lounge and dining area to relax in. Good sized bedroom with bedside cabinets and lamps. Great shower. Washer and dryer and also an outside clothes line. Plenty of room in all areas. Friendly welcome.

A wee distance from eateries and a shop, but that also made it quiet and peaceful with an ‘away from it all’ country feel.

There was no breakfast supplied and meals were a 20 min drive away but we had been advised of this and there are adequate heating facilities. The weather was wet but the unit was warm and welcoming. Overall we were very happy with our stay as was our wee dog. Thank you.

Toaster needs replacing as its timer is unreliable.

Could do with a bench top oven or airfryer, we brought frozen pizza and chip then found we couldn’t cook them

Haast is a lovely place and the place was away from town - a positive but also a disadvantage As we were on a 10-day road trip of the West Coast, having a washing machine and dryer was what drew me to the place.

Firstly calling it a motel is a mistake as one assumes there is a reception open at least over check in hours. Though we landed at those hours - between 2 and 4, we were spoken to by the owner in a brisk manner - given the key and shown where to go. All this outside the reception door, 5 miutes and then door shut in my face. If she had to be somewhere else, there is a nice way to apologise to your guests. Unsure if she judged us as international tourists rather than long time New Zealanders. The place is a 2 bedroom but very small. With 2 beds in one room it was cramped. We were just 4 but still over crowded. The lounge has too much furniture- huge sofa and massive center table and even a small dinning table n chairs. Was a bit claustrophobic especially as weather was bad and could not sit outside. The one heater given was not heating too well at all but after that reception didn’t want to go back to her. The house had no smoke alarms at all which is a fire hazard. Meant we couldn’t leave the heater over night to generate at least a little warmth though it was freezing. The bathroom was cramped. The shower curtain kept touching you whilst showering. Had to keep the window open to get rid of steam. Plus point was a full kitchen and a washing machine and dryer which worked well. This is the first time I have had to give a bad review. But it is the worst reception I have received over my 20+ years of travel nationally and internationally.
