This is by far the best place I’ve ever stayed! My partner agrees. It helps that we love hälsingegårdar and beautiful, old buildings but we were very pleasantly surprised by all other aspects such as the food and service. I honestly can’t believe that it didn’t cost more (good thing it didn’t because then me might not have booked it, but now that we know how amazing it is we absolutely think it’s worth more). The culture mix of Italian and Hälsingegård is excellent! It all feels very luxurious and it’s completely unique. Somehow the cultural values of the place have been preserved even though it has many visitors. The owners are dedicated to the conservation of the site’s cultural heritage, they have made very respectful repairs and only where necessary. If you love heritage buildings and good food you’ll like it here, keep in mind that the old buildings are supposed to be the way they are and that it’s impossible to clean some of the surfaces the same way that a newly constructed hotel would. I got the impression that that the staff did a very good job cleaning. The beds were super comfortable, i’m usually pretty picky with beds and pillows. The bathrooms are shared (at least in the house we stayed in), but it would never be possible to solve in any other way in these houses, installing more bathrooms would ruin the original buildings and the experience of stepping into the past. Amazing views, possible to swim and sauna and borrow canoes/paddleboards. I have a feeling that this will become a place we’ll come back to repeatedly.

Everything was so great, there’s nothing that made the stay less that perfect, but if I’d try to improve on something I’d go through the bathrooms and make sure the soap dispensers are working properly etc. But mostly I wouldn’t change a single thing!
