Great Place to Stay in Oaxaca

The hotel's location is the best: right in the heart of the city centre and within walking distance of everything around Oaxaca. The hotel's decoration theme is a mixture of modern and traditional. It's located in a typical Mexican colonial building and is decorated modernly and practically. We got vouchers for a mezcal tasting at the hotel bar at check-in, complimentary, which was well thought of. The staff in the hotel were very helpful and warm. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. Overall we were very happy with the hotel.

The sink area in the room was quite small. The breakfast options were mainly Mexican breakfasts. Also, we struggled to pay the price of the rooms at the end of our stay and could only convince them by debiting until we checked out.

Very comfortable stay in the quiet part of Oaxaca with many restaurants/bars just a few minutes away

Loved the location. Quiet, but close to everything. Hotel was clean, comfortable. Staff were helpful, hardworking. Thoughtful. Everyone seems happy to be working there. Breakfast was good. Comfortable pillows. Loved the chirping birds when our windows were open. Rooftop bar was quite nice. Loved the clean lines of the room doors. Loved the water feature in the courtyard. Nice toiletries provided.

Room wasn't ready when we were told it would be. Bed movement is felt when one is shifting or getting up/in. Room is a little dark.

I loved the staff and facilities. The breakfast was varied and excellent. The roof bar had an excellent view and atmosphere, as did the breakfast room and courtyard. The architecture included the work of 5 local architects, all stylish and comfortable.

Such tiny things could have been better. Larger water bottles in the bathroom. A rectangular piece of soap rather than a cube.

The breakfast was delicious. I often like to get up and go explore the city and find my own breakfast, but it was quite enjoyable to get up and stumble downstairs for my morning cup of of coffee. The room is quite comfortable and of great size.

The layout of the bathroom makes it for a very small shower space; still manageable though.

Hotel Azul de Oaxaca is the genuine, stylish, comfortable, and delicious Oaxaca!

The Hotel Azul de Oaxaca provides an exceptional experience. The building is a colonial gem in the heart of the city. It's a short walk to Avenida Macedonio Alcalá with its shops and restaurants, as well as historic Templo de Santo Domingo. At the same time, the property's location is an island of tranquility. Special thanks to the welcoming and attentive staff, from the front desk to the Pío the door man, and the restaurant staff! And speaking of the restaurant, the Azul's Oaxacan cuisine is truly wonderful! Breakfast is memorable, with delicious juices, bread, hot chocolate, and several classic Mexican egg dishes. Dinner is also a delight, with specialties such as quesadillas de flor de calabaza, tasajo, sopa de guias, and a range of moles. The portions are generous, so you will not leave hungry! Congratulations to Hotel Azul de Oaxaca, a paragon of Oaxacan hospitality, comfort, and cuisine!

Very poor

Amazing food....when we received it.

Oh dear....I took the offer of lunch with the room.....huge confusion from the front desk staff and kitchen, in which we got caught up.....didn't get the lunch properly one day and the second day I had to get them to talk to resolve. It was unnecessarily stressful. The room was dark and poorly appointed, and noisy at times due to overlooking the terrace, however this was due to the holiday period (Christmas eve). I think the worst part is that whenever I have stayed at hotel over Christmas, with a child, the hotel manager at least recognises this and provides some card/gift for our child.....we never even received a Happy Christmas greeting!
