Loved the staff and the hotel overall, wish it was less expensive and bit less noisy in the morning.

Location was amazing, staff was so so lovely, kind, and super helpful. All clean and nice. Great food. The communal areas are so pretty and well curated. They sell cute things like little artisanal bags and necklaces and that's cute.

A bit noisy early in the morning, like we could hear kids playing at like 7am which wasn't great for our jetlag, but it was not like that all the time just in the morning for an hour or so. The bed was a bit too small and the room was clean and good size but the tv didnt work.

Overall I would say it was average, nothing really wrong;but ask for a quiet room and eat elsewhere.

Staff and location were excellent

Room was on the street and noisy. The courtyard was not kept clean. We were right behind the front office and could even hear the office phone ringing. No breakfast was provided. I was charged for some milk for coffee in the room (which had only chemical whitener). The listing claims a hotel shuttle but really they just call a cab and it costs more than hailing one yourself.

The hotel is a lovely old building close to many activities and restaurants but needs to be maintained better.

Five stars a truly special stay! Our Favorite Place in Oaxaca

We absolutely love staying at this hotel—it feels like a home away from home every time we visit. The décor is beautiful, tasteful, and welcoming, creating a cozy yet elegant atmosphere throughout the entire property. The food is consistently amazing, with every meal full of flavor and beautifully presented. Whether it’s breakfast, dinner, or just a light snack, you can taste the care and quality in every bite. What truly sets this place apart, though, is the incredible service. Juan Carlos and Gabriel are simply the best—always greeting us with warm smiles and making us feel genuinely cared for. Their presence brings such a homey and comforting vibe that keeps us coming back. We can’t recommend this place enough. Can’t wait for our next visit!

Friendly staff, disappointed in accommodations

I liked the lobby/bar area, it was pleasant and the staff were friendly

We were given the wrong room, in which tv did not work. The next night we were switched to the correct room however there was a leak above one of the bed, therefore were switched again. I was not offered compensation for not receiving the room I had originally paid for, and having to move to smaller room.

Noise from workmen fitting new front doors. Breakfast choice was very limited and had to be taken outdoors which in February was very cold.

Friendly staff, great location, lovely courtyard, and poor bathrooms.

The staff was super friendly and the courtyard was a wonderful amenity. The room was lovely and clean and the location was perfect.

The only issue we had was the bathroom. The toilet took 3+ flushes to empty the contents and the hot water did not work consistently in the shower. There was a lot of patchwork caulking in the bathroom and some mildew as a result.

Perfectly adequate with a great location and a very accommodating staff

The location was excellent. Within walking distance of everything.

The breakfast was not much to write about. The fruit was good and fresh. With all the delicious looking rolls and breads we saw in the markets, they could have served something better than plain white toast.

Casa de Sierra Azul is the perfect place to stay on a vacation in Oaxaca.

Casa de Sierra Azul is an oasis in the heart of historic Oaxaca with bars, restaurants,, art galleries, and the Zocolo within walking distance. It's the perfect location. The hotel is beautiful and well maintained with a tropical courtyard, where we enjoyed several very good meals at the restaurant. The staff was friendly and courteous and very helpful. We would stay here again and highly recommend it.

Windows on the ground floor rooms should open for more air circulation.
