Rooms and location were lovely
Food was previously better years ago and was little confused paying £36 a steak which came with no sides . Also having booked a table on arrival I think the lady who took the booking forgot and when we arrived we were seated in a spare room which was very cold unfortunately and we had to eat in our coats .
It’s a lovely venue I would like to return but for what I paid for a night with no bed and breakfast included and the food in the evening I did feel as though it was overpriced and the food experienced underdelivered for what should have been a high end experience.

Lovely boutique room, en suite with a bath and bed all better than expected as I'd just booked a "Cosy" double. The rate was fair for a Friday night. Ample free parking. Lovely grounds
access to the rooms was via an outside door iun the car park. Previously you could get to the bedrooms from within the bar / restaurant and reception area.

What a place! Fabulous ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ steeped in history, sympatheticly refurbished, really comfy bedroom - and the food! The food is quite simply divine - showcasing Welsh ingredients - I ate dinner on both the nights I stayed and it was a memorable experience on each occasion 😋 😋
But a hotel is nothing without good staff - and the staff here arnt good - they're great ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ the manager really made me feel at home, as did the restaurant manager and the waiting staff - they are just so lovely and kind and I really hope hotel management appreciate them 👏👏👏👏👏
I can't think of anything

The room was absolute stunning, set up with great atmosphere to be welcoming and comfortable. Nice little touches like gentle music playing and detailed decor made it feel relaxing instantly. Sadly due to work I didn't get to enjoy the food offerings, but will ensure that happens on my next visit as looked and smelled amazing.
Trying to find the car park in Caerleon on a dark night is a bit of an adventure, but on calling the hotel received really helpful clear directions to quickly fix that.

It’s location and size
Having only one electric charger, that was a big problem for us having a 4hour journey either way, we were not able to access it due to one guest hogging the charger for 12hours

The room was freezing cold when we arrived in December as the radiator wasn’t working and hadn’t been checked.

Caerleon is a delightful old village with a Roman amphitheater, little streets and old cottages. The Priory is in the centre and is very atmospheric. Lovely old furniture. Quirky rooms. Fantastic stained glass windows. Lovely grounds- beware of the armed monk! All the bedrooms are different and beautiful ly appointed so it’s always a treat to see what you are getting.
Wish they still had the gift shop.
Dissapointed that the main staircase is no longer used as for me it’s gave a majestic entry into the hotel and up to the rooms. It takes away some of the grandeur and I think should be reinstated.

The Priory was a wonderful surprise! We booked it because I've been wanting to stay someplace historic and The Priory didn't disappoint! From a very warm welcome by Emily to the assistance retrieving something accidentally left behind, they were helpful and accommodating. Thank you again.
The rooms are incredibly comfortable, absolutely beautiful, and quite big. The restaurant, the bar, the sitting areas. It is all just so lovely. The food was very VERY good - we had dinner twice and loved every bite.
The grounds are dotted with impressive sculptures, benches, and a beautiful view of the river. The car park has plenty of room.
And the best thing about the Priory was the staff! From start to finish they were incredibly positive and helpful. Each and every person we interacted with in our three day stay was phenomenal. Harriet and her team are kind and caring people. Five stars to them!
The town of Caerleon is located on a Roman settlement that once housed over 7000 troops. The remains are right there for you to see! From the legion barracks to the amphitheater to the fantastic museum - what an incredible treasure Caerleon is!
I challenge anyone who finds something they didn't like.

Breakfast and dinner very good
The blind over the door was missing so the light from the car park flooded in and we couldn’t sleep . They moved us for the following night .

Cosy double is exactly that, it was very cosy and nicely decorated. Room was well equipped.
Room was far too warm.. lovely on arrival as it was so cold out but I slept with the window open and the radiator off and the room retained its heat.

its restaurant has been remodelled and the bar area has been upgraded.

The positivity and efficiency of the staff; the room was super comfortable and the décor was lovely. There was PROPER coffee in the room, not just a kettle (I wish all hotels did this)! The dining room/breakfast was utterly delicious.
Was a little tricky to navigate to, but that made it equally rewarding to find!
10.0 / 10.0
The room was cosy and comfortable with thoughtful extra touches such as an extra luxury blanket, premium teas and coffee and high quality toiletries. These products also supported small local suppliers and considered environmental impact. A big plus was the fact that the room temperature was adjustable to personal preference.
The day we arrived there was torrential rain and we had to go outside to get to our room. However the weather is of course out of anyone’s control and the nature of the building would likely make it difficult to provide a covered route.

From check in to check out the staff were incredible, very polite and couldn’t do enough to make sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed. The room was amazing, really clean and all the little extras were great. I would highly recommend The priory hotel!
My only suggestion for improvement (very very minor) would be the hash browns on the breakfast were quite greasy and didn’t seem to have much potato in them. Everything else was perfect!

from the very start i was welcomed, the staff were friendly.
i was travelling alone for work and they made my stay most welcoming and very comfortable.
i ate in the restaurant which again the team in there were excellent and the food was absolutely delicious!
the little chocolates in the room and the tea they leave was a great touch, i even called to ask for the brand to buy as the tea bags one blend i had each night sent me off to sleep!
the one thing that is always a worry for me when staying alone is parking, and being able to park near by or the car park being so full you cant get a space, this place has ample parking and there was no extra charge.
would highly recommend staying here, i hope to go back next time I'm working in the area.
could not fault anything!

Lovely venue and stayed few times so was looking forward
Stayed in room 5 and had constant noice all night from the pub. Then in the morning cleaners were noisy outside the room so to be honest it wasn’t relaxing at all.
The evening we tried to go downstairs for a drink to find it was just impossible to sit anywhere. There was a table with no chairs so was disappointed and almost felt like we had to go elsewhere to relax and have privacy .
We had drinks at the bar which seemed very expensive before going to another pub.
Don’t understand the whole self check in service for a high end venue. Felt like a budget stay with high end service costs

The whole property was exceptional from the room(which was amazing)the buildings and the ground it was all on. The room was large, and extremely well appointed with a great bathroom(robes available) plus the quirky addition of a claw foot bath in front of the window in the room itself. The restaurant was wonderful and we had a great dinner with some beautiful wine and breakfast was just as great. This stay was a real treat.

All round high quality property. The room was extremely comfortable, calming, well designed and genuinely felt like a home from home. The added amenities in the room, such as high quality teas / coffees and Welsh shower products were a nice touch.
The restaurant renovation since my last stay looked great. Although a tad pricey on first glance, food and service was of very good quality and there is a bar selection and also a chefs set menu to provide choice.
Breakfast was excellent and again of high quality. One of the only hotels I’ll actually bother to wake up for breakfast at. Never changes the hash browns!
Staff were all round very friendly, hospitable, especially on the bar, and resolved a minor niggle effortlessly and professionally.
Coming from someone who travels a lot and is quite fussy, I will be rushing to stay here again at my earliest opportunity! The Celtic manor is genuinely not a patch on this place and is only a 10 minute drive from the ICC.
If I had to be very particular, I’d welcome more meat-free (vegetarian) options on the bar / restaurant menu, especially when staying more than one night.
Coffee at breakfast could be improved by removing the that awful urn (I say this everywhere) or having a barista option from the coffee machine in the bar. It won’t break the bank but would really add to the experience in today’s day and age where good coffee is a natural expectation.

Room was lovely, with soft music playing when we arrived. Dinner - Food was really good, tasty and arrived in good time Service were very good with attentive and friendly staff. Breakfast was tasty
Phone didn't work in the room so no way of contacting reception.
I'd ordered a bottle of bubbly for the room but it wasn't there when we arrived so I had to go down and ask for it.
Nothing else.

rooms were nice
no staff to give us a key, restaurant was heaving but we kept getting reasutarant staff wanting to take our plates whilst still eating, literally every 2 minutes, one would ask if we had finished, we would say no, 2 mins later another member of staff would ask, one of these could have worked on the reception desk which would have been nice.
rooms were very noisy, could hear the next room and drinkers outside

The hotel is generally quite good, but not really as good as it should be for the price. Dinner is good; breakfast is so-so.
Not all rooms are air conditioned. There's no desk in the room, so it's impossible to do any serious work on a laptop if you're travelling and have to work. The soundproofing isn't great. Check in is seriously annoying - they expect you to fill in your details on an ipad, including things like date of birth for all guests. Why do they need that when they have a deposit on my credit card? Who are they selling that data to?

We loved the atmosphere of the Priory. Beautiful bar and restaurant with amazing food and service. Our room was cute and relaxing with great amenities. Could not beat the location across the street from the Roman museum. We definitely would have enjoyed the beer garden if we would have stayed longer.
What really set the Priory apart however, was how very supportive the receptionist and manager (wish we had their names) were when we had problems with our rental car. They helped make a very stressful situation less so by helping us check options and being very understanding.
Would definitely stay there again and highly recommend.

Historical charm. Great staff and food. Lovely outside areas.
As with all older properties, can struggle with warm climates.

Comfortable bedroom
The crisps which came with my lamb dinner were stale and overly salted. It was quite expensive for what it was.
