Fantastic property in a great location

The apartment has literally EVERYTHING. A family of 6, 4 adults, an 8 year old and 10 year old, we only stayed one night, enroute to Disney Paris. It is a fantastic location just a few steps from the main square with lots of nice bars and restaurants. We travel quite a lot and it's one of the best properties we have stayed at

The stairs down to the bedroom are quite narrow and steep and the step ladder up to the mezzanine bed means that the property is not suitable for people with walking difficulties.

Nice apartment, ideal for acclimatising for an Antarctic adventure. If you're preparing for a family expedition to Antarctica, Gîte la Maison de Glace Denteliere is the perfect place to start. This unique apartment, a converted shop with a glass-fronted exterior, offers a one-of-a-kind experience that will have you acclimatised to sub-zero temperatures in no time. Everything inside is cleverly designed to resemble normal furniture, yet sculpted entirely from ice. The attention to detail is impressive, with even the radiators carefully remodelled to ensure they don’t accidentally generate any warmth. The basement bedroom, or as we called it, "the ice cave," was particularly brisk, making it a true test of endurance. One thing to note: the heating system is controlled and restricted by the host, so don’t expect to thaw out anytime soon. We highly recommend dressing warmly—even indoors. Regular clothing is fine, but avoid shorts, skirts, or open shoes unless you fancy an impromptu cryotherapy session. Decathlon is a popular point of interest, and if you find yourself underdressed for the experience, it is conveniently nearby, offering a great selection of thermal ski wear and foil hypothermia blankets. Overall, this is Calais' coolest place to stay—quite literally. Rated 4/5 by polar bears and penguins. 🐧❄️ 👨‍👨‍👧‍👦 🛌 🥶☃️

Exceptional

Great experience. We went with kids to Calais, to visit Cap Blanc- Nez and Cap Gris- Nez and were lucky to book " last minute" this apartment. Very friendly hosts, immediate replay, quick and clear communication. Everything you need is available at the apartment inclusive clean towels and bedlinen. There are some cafe's in the neighbourhood to take a breakfast, lunch or to go for a dinner. We were not really planning to go to the local beach, but did it in the evening anyway and were pleasantly surprised by Calais haven, La Citadelle, kids loved the show of Compagnie du Dragon and we talk a walk on the beach as well. In the evening kids were very excited to walk on the golf breaker of the haven, waving to the fully illuminated ferry boats, that were passing so close, leaving for Dover...

Great location, comfortable beds. Couldnt believe this was the actual house, we thought it was a shop, its amazing, we loved it!! There was 6 of us and plenty space and everything we needed for an over night stay. Highly recommend and would defo come back!! The host was amazing answered all my questions and queries.

There was a black substance on one of the pillows which we really werent sure what it was maybe a stain which leaked threw and got on our clothes, this doesnt affect how we feel about the apartment...these things happen just unsure what it was? Stairs going down to bottom bedroom are a bit narrow but totally worth taking them down the bottom bedroom is stunning!!

Excellent location, spacious and comfortable property

The property is in the centre of Calais, shops, harbour in walking distance, supermarket a short drive away. Despite being close to amenities, the street is really quiet. The flat is spacious and comfortable, clean and warm. The kitchen is large and well equipped. The table could seat all six of us comfortably. The decor is unique, lots of character from the place apparently once being a lacemaker's workshop. The host gave us all the information needed and responded to messages swiftly. We would definitely stay again and recommend it to others too.

It wasn't easy to find parking. There were plenty of hand towels but not enough bath towels for all six of us. The sofa bed is squeaky.

Relaxing stay

Having to book somewhere to stay at the last minute the Gite was perfect. Located centrally in Calais the facilities are superb and Sylvie made everything easy and clear to follow. My request for an extension to the normal check out time was also granted without fuss.

Excellent location - lots of shops / brasseries in walking distance, and not far to drive to larger supermarkets. The facilities are excellent, beds are all very comfy and everything is lovely and clean.

It would be better with one more toilet / bathroom, as having 5/6 people sharing one bathroom is a bit tricky. Other than that, it can't be faulted!

Wir würden diese Wohnung wieder buchen.

Aufgrund einer Fehlbuchung mit einem anderen Vermieter, war unsere Anfrage extrem kurzfristig und funktionierte dennoch fantastisch. Innerhalb von sehr wenigen Minuten bekamen wir sofort alle benötigten Informationen und waren sehr dankbar zu später Stunde eine so schöne Lösung zu bekommen.

Wer Probleme mit engen Treppen hat, wird ggf. ungern das Schlafzimmer im Untergeschoss nutzen wollen. Alternativ gibt es ein Hochbett im Hauptraum.

Originelle Unterkunft in einem ehemaligen Kurzwarenladen. Man muss „treppenfest“ sein, dann ist es wirklich toll. War jetzt zum dritten Mal da und es wird einfach auch gut gepflegt. Ist natürlich kein Ort, um drei Wochen Urlaub zu machen, aber für einen Stopover ist es perfekt. Es gibt Cafés (Frühstück) und Restaurants in Laufnähe, was will man mehr. Und der Preis ist unschlagbar für eine 5-köpfige Familie.

Lämpligt och fräscht boende nära centrum.

Boendet låg centralt, vilket gjorde det lätt att hitta något att äta i dricka i närheten. Vi hade bil och det fanns gott om gratis gatuparkeringar i närheten. Smidigt med kodlås så att man kan komma och gå som man vill. Värden var lätt att få tag på. Svarade snabbt på ens meddelanden.

Lite speciellt med boende på markplan mitt i stan med stora fönster, men det fanns stora gardiner som kunde ge skydd för insyn. Barnen tyckte det var lite läskigt att bo på loftet. Räcket var glest.

Redelijk tot goed.

Ruim appartement. Netjes en schoon. Fijne badkamer.

In de nacht niet kunnen slapen ivm kou. Uitleg omtrent verwarming helaas alleen maar in het Frans wat wij niet lezen of spreken. Dit is ten koste gegaan van onze nachtrust waarvoor we dit appartement juist hadden geboekt. (Doorreis naar Londen).

Lage war im Zentrum und daher fussläufig alles zu erkunden.

Ehemaliges Geschäft. Nun ja, die Unterkunft ist schon lange in der Nutzung und es gibt da so einiges, was nicht mehr auf dem neuesten Stand ist. Und nach unten (Schlafzimmer im Kellergeschoss) geht es nur über eine sehr schmale Wendeltreppe, an der aber unmittelbar auch kein Lichtschalter ist. Und kalt war es, die Elektroheizungen schafften die angenehme Behaglichkeit nicht, und durch den Vermieter wurden sie vorher nicht angeschaltet.
