Staff are very friendly
Lunch was out of this world , the food was the best we have had in a long time
Breakfast needs better organising , the full English we had was excellent.. however the ‘breakfast room ‘ needs to be better organised, the water / drinks bar area and table where you help yourself to toast and pastries was not what we expected for this calibre of hotel , looked like it had all be thrown on the table in a hurry

The breakfast was amazing
Didn't know in advance that the room was in an 'annex'

Excellent position on the edge of Burleigh House grounds and a 10 minute walk from town . Food was good in Millys Bistro staff all very polite and pleasant
Room 7 was a little cramped for a twin bedded room for senior citizens 🤔Hubby is 6 ft tall and fireplace mantelpiece was quite dangerous for him getting out of bed during the night as our age group need to do frequently . Also the shower cubicle in room 7 was very small . Lots of elbows bashing against the shower screen during shower time . Maybe check height of people being allocated this room ?? Sorry to seem to be whinging but room 7 was also noisy with traffic passing
We tried to close the window properly several times but couldn’t fasten it closed and it was draughty . Maybe have a look at the lock on the window . Despite all this we would come back but definitely ask not to be allocated room 7

Very relaxing stay in a comfortable room

Clean and well-appointed spacious ‘cosy’ room with all mod cons including wall mounted tv, DAB radio, coffee machine and tea making facilities. Large on-suite bathroom with bath and shower.
Double bed was comfortable however the soft mattress might not be to everyone’s liking. It was perfectly acceptable for our recent two night stay.

Beautiful hotel. Quite grand feeling and in keeping with Stamford’s general style and ambience.
Our room was above a noisy kitchen fan , but the manager, Sergio, was quick to address this and made everything right.

Nothing really.

Very pleasant hotel - no proper wardrobes in the room and restaurant area poor. Breakfast good if it could have been served in better surroundings.

Huge potential but awful stay
Cold room. Small bed. Numerous hazardous steps in room meant you had to sleep with light on. Bathroom freezing. Duvet not warm and hole in ceiling. Dripping wet windows. Staff unhelpful. Told no tables for dinner but no one in restaurant for at least the first hour of service and small plates not offered even though we were within the time window.

I enjoy staying at the William Cecil on the infrequent occasions I am in Stamford. My room this time was very comfortable with an excellent bathroom and the atmosphere was relaxing as always.
Since my wife died I travel alone, which means I am having to pay for a double room with single occupancy. A room is a room and it has to be paid for, but the price includes breakfast and I had, in effect, to pay for two breakfasts. I asked about this, and was told the price I paid was for single occupancy, but that is not what the Booking.com website showed when I booked.

Location , parking , room was lovely & private garden was very nice
More ambience needed , was cold in lounge area & Milly restaurant which was off putting whilst having a meal felt we was just shoved in there no ambience & all the noise from the bar ie drinks machine etc & all doors open so really draughty & noise from reception not quite the romantic meal we was expecting
Breakfast is strange have to do your own toast with toasters & butter & jam them at the serving table with no small pots to take to your table whilst your doing that your hot breakfast is getting cold on the table !

Not the best.
Small portions, buffet made up of pastries and breads.
Would have been nice to see meats and cheeses.
Room had a very worn carpet, on the threshold into the bathroom.
Many cobwebs around both bedroom and bathroom.
Bath screen had a gap where it met the bath, causing water to pool on the floor (bath panel had long term damage because of this.
Burn marks from candles on the wall of the dining room. Generally tired throughout.

Had a downstairs room because of mobility issues. Clean but room only had one chair and us being old really needed one each.
Hole with electric wire hang from the ceiling and no blind in the bathroom for privacy. Breakfast back under cooker and far too fatty. Asked for no black pudding but it came with it anyway. Very oily too.

Great location and property.
No bath in our room. Breakfast not very warm or tasty. Expected better quality products. Extended wait for our evening meal. Confusion with our bill. Late night noise and disturbance due to party season.

Everything was excellent but for the 4 star rating I would expect the bathroom to be a bit more taken care of. There was some water damage on the bath and tiles. However, I am being picky. Overall I was delighted with my stay. The building, decor and Christmas decorations were beautiful.

Location is so near to Stamford centre. Decor of hotel is very nice, warm and cosy. Breakfast was lovely with lots of choice.
We were booked into a room which was dated and in need of update with broken sash window that was rotted and wouldn’t close.
We advised reception and we were moved to another room in an annex. This was an upgrade to a lovely room with outside sitting area at no extra cost.

Great town.
Breakfast was very poor and room was noisy in that we heard revellers coming in at 4.30am and early departures at 5.30am each as loud as the other.

The hotel was exceptionally well kept, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the full English breakfast was delicious.
The room was outstanding, and the facilities within were the best you could ask for. Proper milk for the tea and coffee as well as a coffee machine and kettle. The white chocolate cookies were incredible and very welcome in the early hours after a heavy session of drinking and dancing at a wedding all night.

Cold tap span around as wasn’t fixed to sink properly.
Kettle on short lead so when shelf was pulled forward it toppled. Really dangerous when boiled.
Shower so small I struggled to use it effectively, could barely bend to clean myself.
Wedding party in evening, waited for the table service we were promised for a while then just went elsewhere.
Breakfast service was very good.

The room was beautiful and spacious, the team member personally showed me to my room on arrival and showed me where everything was, the tea & coffee in room facilities included fresh milk, which is so unusual and such an appreciated touch!

The building and the grounds were beautiful a lovely outdoor sitting area and a nice lounge for an evening drink .
Couldn’t fault the staff who were very polite and helpful.
Hotel was in a good location 10 minutes walk into town and plenty of safe parking.
The rooms were disappointing when you consider the grand entrance etc. Tired, couldn’t open a window, very small en-suite which looked tatty . Ours was a double to the front of the building there was nowhere really to hang clothes properly. Thought for the money the room could have been better

Great location short walk into town. Welcoming and friendly staff. Lots of places to sit inside and out. Fantastic breakfast.
Small point but there was no mirror in bedroom near a socket which made hair drying difficult.
