YHA Blue Mountains Katoomba

Excellent location at the Main Street and with eateries and supermarkets nearby.

The place is located very close to Blue Mountains, very convenient. Staff was very friendly and helpful to my quest. Communal kitchen was great to use and facility was well refurbished and maintained. Just a bit noisy from the street traffic and people accessed to the toilet as my room was close to toilet. Overall, it was good stay. I would stay the place again in the future.

My kids love it and the location is so close to supermarket and restaurants. Will definitely come back again

Prior to making our booking we rang the property twice and detailed our accessibility needs. We confirmed that the property had ensuite rooms available on the ground floor of the property that did not require stairs and we were also advised that there was an elevator at the property that could be used to access another level at the property which also had ensuite rooms available. During this phone conversation with the property we were advised of the exact statement to write in the comments/requests section of the booking to ensure our accessibility needs were understood by the property and to ensure we were allocated an appropriate accessible room. We proceeded with our booking and payment based solely on the advice and direction from the property, which again we had rung twice to specifically confirm, that our accessibility needs could and would be met. On the day we arrived, after going through the check in procedure & receiving the room key & being told which floor the room was on, we asked where the elevator was to reach our room. We were loudly laughed at by the YHA staff working the check in counter, we were told by the YHA staff working on the check in counter that the property had no lift, that the property had no accessible rooms, and further we were told by the YHA staff working on the check in counter that the property does not receive any of the information entered into the comments/requests section of the booking by Agoda. The YHA staff working on the check in counter were quite condescending, quite rude, quite defensively denied that we had made any prior enquiries about the property with YHA, and absolutely could not have cared less. We had made every effort possible to avoid being placed in this predicament, and the indignity and breathtaking unprofessionalism of the YHA staff working on the check in counter was chilling. This property does not have accessible rooms and potential guests with any type of mobility issue are clearly not welcome here and are clearly not seen as real guests. Further to this, the room we had been allocated, the furthest possible room from the check in counter despite being led to believe by YHA that we had booked an accessible room, had a door which did not fit the door frame correctly, even when the door was properly shut, there was a large gap along the side of the door which one could clearly see straight through, eliminating our privacy and exposing us to quite an unacceptable and unfiltered volume of noise at all hours. When we finally entered the room we also discovered that a pane of glass in the window had a very large crack and hole running along it, allowing freezing cold air to constantly fill the room during the overnight sub zero temperatures. We definitely would not recommend this property.
