We had a fantastic stay here. I can honestly say that I have never slept so well. The location was quiet and very peaceful. The grounds around the chateau are beautiful and I loved the gardens and the way the chateau had been decorated. The exclusive use of the well equipped spa was a special extra bonus. The team were enthusiastic, kind and accommodating and we were given some great local insights and helpful information for getting around.
The room we had was beautifully and sympathetically decorated and was much bigger than I had expected with a lovely spacious bathroom.
The breakfast we had served in our room was absolutely amazing. I have never seen such a beautiful spread. It was very well received and more then kept us going for most of the day! Very special.
The only things to be aware of is that you either need to drive to local restaurants or book a local taxi. We struggled to get a taxi so its worth thinking and booking ahead. There were good recommendations for local places to eat but several were closed on a few nights of our stay so again worth planning ahead.
The only thing that would have made our stay a tiny bit better was that there is only the mini bar in the room if you want a drink, and it only had one beer in it that we polished off on the first night! This wasn't replenished so we did end up buying a couple of bottles at the local supermarket. The choice of wine was very good though. Just on a hot day we fancied a cold beer!
However just a tiny little thing when the stay was so good. 😊

The location was serene and the castle and grounds were absolutely beautiful. The owner and staff were lovely and we added night because our tween boys liked this place so much! We hope to come back again for a longer visit!
No complaints.

Staying at the Chateau was a real treat! It has been beautifully restored and is such a welcome departure from the same old hotels that have nothing terribly special about them. Staying at the Chateau, one really feels like a guest of the Chateau owner. Helen was a wonderful hostess. We really enjoyed visiting with the animals behind the Chateau as well! This is a special place and I only wish we could have stayed longer.

Super rooms in the main building.
Great to have a pool and tennis courts.
Dinner options are seriously limited even with a car. Everything was closed on the first night and there was one local restaurant which the entire town, hotel residents and even hotel staff were trying to get dinner in.
Would be great if the hotel had bikes to rent- getting them separately to cycle round the vineyards was a pain.

Beautiful old building with large grounds. The indoor swimming pool in the cellar was stunning - a lovely facility. The outdoor pool was OK and never busy, although the water was disturbingly cloudy and the pool area would have benefitted from more moveable loungers in addition to the fixed "beds" which cannot be moved to point in the direction you choose. There is also have a tennis court which can be booked for free. The two bedrooms we stayed in were decorated with antique furniture (which meant the bed was only a standard double and felt a bit small compared to the larger beds in modern hotels). The continental-style breakfast was fine (but felt a little expensive).
The wifi connection was useless most of the time, and phone signal at the chateau was also poor for us.

The location is stunning... Swimming pools are fantastic. The 15 Euro breakfast is very nice with local produce.
Nothing really... a little remote.

What a wonderful experience! Indoor pool, outdoor pool, beautifully decorated rooms, meticulously manicured gardens, historic antiques and modern art treasures everywhere! Chateau Jallanges is an excellent find! The host is friendly, knowledgeable and speaks English well. Two other couples we met have been coming annually for years. We were traveling from Bordeaux to Paris and randomly found it as a halfway point. So lucky we did. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

beautiful chateau with beautiful bedrooms. the breakfast was top quality and as much as you wanted to eat. secure parking, chilled environment, and we didn’t even use the pools or tennis court. The animals grazing the back area were a joy to see in the morning and there was bird song everywhere. I should have bought some of the chateau Vouvray wines, but ran out if time. We will return.
Nothing, because it is an old French chateau and don’t expect air con!

We paid 702 Euro for 3 nights WITHOUT breakfast :-( We left the place after one night.
A super expensive bed and breakfast. On top of the price, breakfast had to be paid for. It appeared abandoned, and worn, no guests. no coziness. Of course there was no bar or any dining on the terrace.
There are other fine castles nearby, for the same price.

Firstly, I would like to stress that you should book a room at this exquisite property with the right expectations in mind: This is a privately owned and operated château, not a hotel or resort. The owner has invested a lot of blood, sweat and tears over more than 35 years to create the absolutely breathtaking chateau it is today.
The oldest parts of the castle (e.g. the impressive basement swimming pool) date back to the 12th century and were expanded upon throughout the centuries, but abandoned for a large part of the 20th century.
The current owner acquired the castle and it's domain in the 80s and has since rebuilt the castle with the utmost respect for its original architecture and ambiance. The domain breathes an atmosphere of long past times and it feels like that the moment you set foot on the domain.
The château has several wings, each of which renovated to its authentic splendour. There are B&B rooms, apartments (with equiped kitchen) and event halls. And of course a castle garden, where a second (outside) swimming pool is located.
After installing our stuff in the beautiful room, we went to the garden castle to drink a splendid sparkling wine, made with grapes from the chateau's vineyard. The tone was set at that point, and we decided to immerse fully in the experience the chateau offered.
We spent one night in a beautifully renovated B&B room, constructed in the main wing of the chateau on the first floor. That evening, there was no diner prepared unfortunately, though I suppose this was due to the fact it was a Sunday and of course during a pandemic. We slept like a rose in the king-sized bed and were pleased with the bath room. In the morning we were greeted by the owner at the breakfast table with copious amounts of fruits, bread and viennoiserie (pastries). After breakfast, we got a private tour from the owner through the castle.
We are definitely going back to the Chateau de Chissay.
