Beautiful

Fantastic facilities - thermal pools are wonderful. Jacuzzis, Sauna, Steam room & Hamman are fab. The hotel decor is beautiful and the piano player is a fabulous touch. Rooms are spacious and the shower is brilliant (powerful and hot). Breakfast buffet selection is amazing.

The mattress is very firm - bordering on hard! Food choices (outside of breakfast) are limited. Location is isolated - the nearest shop is about 15 minutes walk. Subway is 20 minutes.

Best spa hotel in Izmir

The hotel has many great qualities and is probably one of the best options in Izmir if you’re looking to relax. The SPA was absolutely amazing, both the thermal and main pools were outstanding and made our stay truly worthwhile. Some staff members went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and assist us whenever we needed help, which we really appreciated. It genuinely felt like a peaceful retreat, perfect for unwinding and recharging. Olcak and Leman from Housekeeping, deserve a special mention. Leman was wonderful and exceptional at her job. She is an asset to the hotel. Olcak was exceptional in his service and professionalism. He knew what advise to give us and told us many things which helped us with our sightseeing and visits. We realised that he would actually make an excellent addition to the front desk team, given his experience, knowledge, warmth and attentiveness as apposed to some of the members of staff at the front desk who were so unhelpful and unwelcoming! The breakfast, while adequate, became repetitive with the same limited selection of breads and very few vegetables or hot food options. More variety would make a big difference. In addition, there were no traditional Turkish dishes available at all — something quite disappointing considering Turkey’s rich and famous culinary culture. The hotel didn’t seem to promote or serve any authentic local dishes, either at breakfast or during dining hours, which felt like a missed opportunity to highlight Turkish hospitality and flavours.

There are several areas that need improvement. The hotel feels a bit stuck in the 90s, especially with its outdated payment systems, which caused us a great deal of inconvenience during our stay. Communication was challenging since most staff did not speak English, which made simple requests or inquiries more difficult. We felt that some stuff avoid interaction with guests unless you speak Turkish! There was also very little tourist information or guidance available, which would have made navigating Izmir much easier. The rooms, while comfortable, are dated and in need of renovation — wardrobes, floors, and other fixtures didn’t appear to have been deeply cleaned. Smoking was another MAJOR issue, particularly around the pool area where it was impossible to avoid and made it very unpleasant for us! It was terrible. Creating separate smoking and non-smoking zones would significantly improve the experience and make it healthier considering it's a spa retreat. One of the biggest downsides of this hotel is its location. It’s surrounded by rough, dirty roads and unpleasant-smelling areas of Izmir, with many stray dogs roaming around. To reach the nearest bus stop, shops, or restaurants, you have to walk nearly 20 minutes along a dangerous and poorly maintained road. This really needs to be communicated more clearly to guests, as not everyone will want to rely on taxis just to travel 2 kilometres to the main amenities. There’s nothing else nearby, which makes the hotel feel quite isolated. For a place marketed as a spa resort, the hotel should really consider offering a shuttle or transport service to help guests reach local areas safely and return comfortably. At the moment, safety and accessibility are genuine concerns. Overall, this hotel has enormous potential. With some modern updates, more variety in food, better communication, and improved guest services, it could easily become one of the top spa resorts in the region.

Nice hotel with very good thermal spa and facilities. Try to keep calm with receptionists

Pre-reception and the staff in the spa and restaurant are very helpful. I needed to checkin early, I called the Hotel and the pre-reception chase out the room and they called me back and made my room ready. That made me very happy. The staff in spa center was very helpful as well. They explained the process and the usage very clear.

The receptionist -called Dilan Hn- told me that, I'll receive a sms code and she didnt told me at all how to use it. I wanted to get more information about their loyalty program and she ignored my request and gave me boring face. The restaurant receptionist told my friend -for the second room I booked-, he needs to pay 10 euros extra for the breakfast, which I forgot while I book the room. In reception he has been charged 20 euros for breakfast - single breakfast-. I called the hotel manager and explained him the situation "Aydogan Bey" he said thats the price, he ignored the misleading information of his staff

The reception area was comfortable and stunning. The location suited our business needs.

The staff were not friendly. We had to remind them three times to bring the drinks that we had ordered. We tried to pay for our drinks but they did not understand and finally the waitress threw her arms up in exasperation saying "Reception" and walked off! We tried to explain to the gentleman on reception that we simply wanted to pay for our drinks, he did not understand either and finally we gave up trying. The beds were very hard and uncomfortable. I fell so hard entering the pool because the pool steps have no grip and are extremely slippery. I landed on my back and could not breathe as my diapragm went into spasm. Thankfully 2 ladies at the poolside helped me out when I had recovered sufficiently, there were no staff around. There was no handrail at my side of the pool and later I went around the other side to see if i could use the handrail but is was metal and so hot it could not be used. We witnessed another person slipping and falling in the same way. In the UK, steps into a pool are slip resistant. I am back home still in terrible pain.

Wonderful stay at Kaya Hotel in Izmir! The staff were super friendly and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable, and the location is great, just 10 minutes by car to the biggest shopping mall. Highly recommended, and I’ll definitely stay here again!

Scrupulously clean across the entire hotel. Always had a very nice scent blowing through too. Great, Staff in all areas with Burner Kulan our guest relationship manager being exceptionally helpful and professional. We were there in business so while the spa looked excellent I was unfortunately time poor and was unable to partake

1) Breakfast was nice. 2) Staff prolonged our stay for 1 hour, which we are grateful for considering the situation with thermal pool.

1) First room suggested by the hotel staff was for those who smoke. Smoking smell was all over the place, so we changed it to another room. Taking into account it’s a 5 star hotel, it would be nice to have nice clean room to live in even if it’s a smoking room. 2) Second room was better but still had some points of improvement. Firstly, the safe locker was not working properly, so we had to call for a technician. We waited for 1 hour, so that he could check the locker and fix it. We had only one day in the hotel starting from 4pm, so loosing time was a big “-“ for us. Prepaid service(water, amenities, etc.) wasn’t there, so we had to call several times to have it. 3) Reception staff wasn’t friendly and could hardly understand English. During the check in our questions were ignored. Guest relations staff couldn’t help to solve the issue either. They approached us several times asking how is our stay but even after hearing out the problem issues no measures had been taken. In general staff here don’t speak good English, so be sure to have google translate if you need to communicate. 4) Room service wasn’t working properly since we had to call over 10 times and no one answered, so we called reception 3+ times to make an order of spaghetti, which is quite easy to make as some might think but 5 star hotel chef here couldn’t handle it. 5) Thermal pools weren’t working and nobody said it or mention anywhere before the payment was made. This is kind of ridiculous since people usually come here to Balcova to go to thermal pool. It was a big regret coming here since we couldn’t go to thermal pools.

The hotel is really nicely decorated and looks spacious, with really good extras like swimming pool and thermal pools. Food served in the breakfast area was tasty and good variety. We ordered some main dishes to our room too, that was also tasty. Pools are great. I loved the location. While having a breakfast one lady from the hotel customer relations approached our table and asked if everything is alright. We said some complaints and she promised to resolve same day which she really did. We left the hotel pleased...

The bed is really firm, not on the comfortable side. I had pain in my hips and legs. The pillows are very soft, there is no middle between those two. The bed was really disappointment.

It was a good experience

The hotel looks quite new and clean. The area is spacious and plants are well bred on the back side of the hotel that creates quite nice atmosphere behind. There is a good tenniss club on the territory of the hotel which is mainly used by young people. The pools are a good area to spend some time during the day. Good fortepiano musing in the evenings in the lobby.

The are in front of the hotel is the construction of something. The pools in the hotel are clear while sometimes (2 times during 5 days) you can find sigarete packs inside. The table in the rooms says- you are not allowed to bring beverage and food from outside due to hygiene reasons, while you can order food to the room within hotel. I did not intend to bring anything to my room, but this restrictive statement looked very offensive. And how can you survivve with 1 liter of water in a summer time for 2 persons per day. The fridge in the room is sealed with the real seal "to supply you with the fresh drinks" that psychologicaly tells you - "do not open me". The white bathrobes in the room disappeard (1st second day, 2nd on the second day). The room was cleaned daily except for the day before arrival. The water was reprelineshed, but the room was not made up and the garbage was not taken out. The last poit is that the irst night I was proposed the dinner (a la buffet) for 1100 TL for 2 persons. It was good. But during the check out I found out that the same dinner for 2nd, 3rd and 5th day was already 1500 TL for 2 persons. And only during check out after my request - the staff informed me that the 1st day the price for the dinner is lower than in the other days. Looks like a trap - come once for low price, and than you will find out. The hotel is on the quite distance from the center of the city, thus you have only the choice of taxi to go to the center of Izmir that is about 12-15 USD one way.

1. Money. Price vs quality correlation is absolutely incredible. Accomodation, dinner, spa cost huge money, but all of these were not perfect quality 2. Staff is awful. First, they included some additional money to accomodation price without any notification. Secondary, they said they “everything is included”, but while checking out we were extra paid for spa item, despite we were notified that this is not included. Finally, the staff is not interested in the services

The aircon is not working in the whole hotel during this half of the year even if it gets hot they can't as it gets switched to heater only. The cleanliness is not up to the expectations. Water was not brought to tge room everyday unless we ask for. The room cleaning was not perfect. Comfort os not up to the level the bed is hard and the pillows are hard too.
