Road Travel to Natal Spa not so good, but worth it considering the wonderful facilities of Natal Spa

Although the hotel’s buildings and furnishings reflect its age, and the road leading in via Vryheid before Paulpietersburg is quite challenging (I’d strongly recommend travelling via Paulpietersburg first then to the resort for a much smoother journey), my stay was truly delightful. The staff were exceptional throughout — from Nthandokazi at reception, who made our stay so much more comfortable, and Asande, to Nthandokazi at La Vita Spa, who was easily one of the best therapists I’ve had in years. A special mention as well to Simphiwe at the zipline — an absolute standout among many great team members. Pools were well kept, maintained and clean. The ambiance is second to none. Rooms have electric blankets and a wall heater which is a game changer. If you can look past a few minor quirks that come with older infrastructure (which is clearly well maintained), you’re in for a fantastic experience. Great value for money, wonderful staff, and an overall memorable stay. N.b: I truly hope Gooderson group invests money into this resort and gives it the refurbishing it truly deserves. This resort would become a world beater imo.

The overall resort—from the accommodation to the restaurant, reception, and hotel bar—would benefit greatly from a comprehensive refurbishment to enhance its overall aesthetics and guest experience. There is also a need for a wider range of accommodation options, particularly larger units, as there are currently no three-bedroom (or larger) offerings available. The fee for access to the hydro, jacuzzi, and gym facilities is R80 per person per day, which is quite steep, especially for families. By comparison, resorts such as Badplaas and Warmbaths charge approximately R10 per person for more extensive hydro facilities. This is highlighted as a point of concern. It was also noted that certain staff members appear to have relatively high expectations regarding tips. These points are shared as humble recommendations for consideration.

The rooms given to us had a terrible stink, they had no roof over the varander. When we were braaiying our meat and fire was soaked by rain. We called reception for assistance to get a portable braai stand but got a attitude from the lady at reception she didn't assist us at all. We had to drive back to the local town at night to purchase a portable braai stand dogding potholes in the blistering rain.
