    Mantaray Island Resort was one of the highlights of my Fiji trip. I stayed for five nights and, by the time it came to leave, it genuinely felt as though the time had disappeared. The location is what you come to a place like this for. An island setting, beautiful ocean views, beaches and that wonderful feeling of being completely removed from the everyday world. It is a place where you can genuinely slow down and enjoy island life. For divers and snorkellers, the location is excellent. The house reef provides easy access to the water, with plentiful diving and snorkelling spots around the island and nearby. And, of course, there is the opportunity to swim with the manta rays. Getting into the water alongside these magnificent animals was one of the absolute highlights of my Fiji trip. The staff were outstanding. Everyone I encountered was warm, friendly and genuinely welcoming. The restaurant staff knew my name by the second day, and the traditional welcome and farewell songs really added something to the experience. When I left, the staff helped with the luggage and sang as I was taken by boat out to the ferry. It was a memorable way to say goodbye. I was also very impressed with the food. There was a good variety each day, with several choices for each course and a nice mix of Fijian and Pacific flavours alongside more familiar dishes. Everything was beautifully presented and, more importantly, tasted great. The kokoda was particularly memorable. What I enjoyed most was the overall atmosphere. There was a relaxed, friendly feel throughout Mantaray Island Resort, and it was very easy to settle into island time. Whether you are there for diving, snorkelling, swimming with manta rays or simply getting away from everything, Mantaray Island Resort offers a great combination of activities and relaxation. The hardest part of the stay was leaving. As the little boat took me out to the ferry and I watched Mantaray Island Resort disappear behind me, I realised just how quickly the five days had passed. A wonderful place, made even more memorable by its setting, its marine life, its food and, above all, its people. I would happily return.
