recently stayed at Hotel Palermitano by DOT Boutique for four nights, and I chose it primarily for the location—which did not disappoint. The hotel is right in the heart of Palermo Soho, surrounded by tons of great restaurants and bars. The area felt very safe, and we had no problem walking around, even at night. The hotel itself is a small boutique property, which is typical for this neighborhood. You’re not going to find big chain hotels here because the streets are smaller and more congested. I believe the hotel has about five floors, so it’s definitely on the smaller side. One unique feature is the keyless entry system. Instead of a room key, you get a code sent via WhatsApp to access your room. Check-in was super easy, and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The rooms are small but efficient and worked perfectly for us. Ours had a queen-size bed (I don’t think they offer king beds due to space, and I’m not sure about double beds). The room included a TV, very strong air conditioning, a safe, and a minibar with snacks and drinks available for purchase. One thing to note: the bathroom has a sliding door that does not lock. It wasn’t an issue for us as a couple, but something to keep in mind if you’re traveling with someone else. They provide basic toiletries like body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. The lobby area is beautiful—cozy with seating areas, even a spot to play chess, and a dining area. Breakfast is included daily from 7 AM to 11 AM, which I loved since many places end breakfast much earlier. It’s a simple but solid spread: scrambled eggs, bacon, toast, yogurt, granola, cereal, pastries, and really strong espresso-style coffee. Another great perk: there’s a water station where you can refill your bottle anytime—definitely bring one. They also offer a really nice evening touch: from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM, guests get a complimentary glass of wine along with a small cheese setup. My husband and I took full advantage of that before heading out each night—it was such a nice addition. There is a pool, but we didn’t get a chance to use it. We visited in late March/early April (their fall season), and while the weather was nice, it wasn’t quite pool weather. The only downside was housekeeping during our stay. While the room was clean when we arrived, we noticed small things like toothpaste stains left on the sink, so the cleaning wasn’t always thorough between days. Overall, I would absolutely recommend this hotel and would stay here again. The location, staff, and thoughtful extras really made it a great experience.
