Worst hotel ever seen

Staff was ok

Starting from tv not working, water running constantly, freezing cold, mould and dirty, even spiders welcoming you into the room, 1 star is too much for it. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, looks worse than a council estate, it should be named “hotel”

Not happy with stay

The tv didnt work. There was no toilet roll in the bathroom. The service engineer didnt come to repair tv when told.

Disgusting

Receptionist when we arrived was honest about thep amount of noise that was hoing to be going on. Didn't help the noise but she was honest!

It is filthy! It smells or smoke and sprouts. The carpets were stained, the bathroom floor brocken, shower broken, window didnt shut, lock on the wrong side of the bathroom door, bar underneath our room playing loud music until early hours of the morning and people making noise and knocking on our door all hours.

The receptionist was lovely and tried to sort out my problem. She was really lovely and friendly and tried to sort out the issues. The sheets and towels were clean

Despite the hotel main areas being shabby and dirty i was pleasantly surprised by the first room which was warm and really nicely decorated. It had lovely lighting and usb sockets however the hot tap top came apart and scalding hot water started to pour out soaking my sleeve. I couldn't turn it off so I went down to reception. The receptionist was lovely and offered to tuen it off or change mw rooms as i wouldnt be able to use thw taps again. She decided qnd changed me rooms. I moved into room 33 which was freezing. The radiator wouldn't turn on. There was no kettle. There was one working socket and it was loose on the wall. The tv remote didnt work - once I worked out how to turn it on via the buttons the tv had a terrible picture, loud crackling and kept stopping and pixellating. I was so cold but just got into bed as it was well past midnight and I didnt want to bother the lovely receptionist again. In the morning I was so cold with there being no heating and it was winter with frost outside. I tried to run a bath but the mechanism to get the tap to work wasnt working so i tried to have a shower but neither taps worked properly and either only hot or only cold dribbled out. The bathroom was absolutely filthy with hairs and dirt on the floor - and it was freezing. I hadn't noticed the night before but the room was also filthy on the floor. The bathroom door wouldn't shut and the water cistern from the toilet constantly ran making a noise for ages I couldn't get out of there fast enough.

The bed feels comfortable. Location is easily accessible.

The fact that the whole hotel corridors was smelling of cigarette smoke was really appalling. Not a friendly place for kids. I couldn't have my shower as the hot water wasn't running in the shower.

The hotel is very rundown and in need of modernisation and cleaning. The bathroom tap fell off while we were there, and in general, the hotel needs money spent on it to bring it up to modern standards overall, not a bad location as such, and the staff were very friendly and tried their best when asked to help.

Great hotel. Staff welcoming.

Short walking distance from Coventry train station. Single room was a very good size. Nice big bed for a single room. Room was clean and fresh smelling. Bed was very comfortable. Room was quiet. Nice and warm. Plenty of tea and coffee. I’d stay again.

This was possibly the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in.

The room was spacious.

The room stank of smoke. There was no hand soap or any of the usual products you’d usually get in a hotel. When I asked for a fork to eat my takeaway with, there wasn’t one in the whole hotel. The bar only sold bottled beers rather than having anything on draft. At best, this hotel is literally just a place to put your head down.

Free car park close to station. Bed comfortable, clean towels

Shower hose split so shower ineffective. Multiple stains all over the bedroom carpet - apparently someone had dyed their hair in the room! No information in room re emergency exits etc Key pad on fire emergency exit - so couldn't get out anyway. Room wasn't cleaned during stay, nothing replenished Awful smell in corridor - like cigarette smoke Fire alarm went off twice throughout the night - we were told it was due to a water leak but we suspect it was due to guests smoking Didn't have a restaurant for breakfast

Quiet room, comfortable bed.

Now this is strange - out of a selection of bottles and food packets left on the desk, two full bottles of tonic water 'vanished' while we were out. Leaves a nasty taste in the mouth - has our luggage been gone through? Was anything else taken that I haven't noticed yet?

Not awful,but for an executive room, you’d think everything would be up to date, clean and repaired

We asked for early check in, as we were arriving from Plymouth, for a funeral, which was at around 2pm. Unfortunately, when we got there, the room wasn’t ready for us, but staff were absolutely amazing and upgraded us to the executive room! The room was lovely. Nice layout, very comfortable, onsuite bathroom and had everything we needed for our one night stay and the 11am checkout was great too. The staff were so lovely and very kind.

A LOT of stairs - I’m disabled and the room wasn’t ready on the top floor, all the way to the back. Restaurant wasn’t open throughout the stay. The room was needing a lot of repairs done. For an executive room, you’d think it would be immaculate. There was lose plaster on the walls, the side panel on the bath was old and grubby, there was dust on things, there was something ripped off halfway on the skirting board, the safety lock on the window was broken in the bathroom and the windows were dirty. The room definitely needs an update. The noise! When we got there, there was work going on. All we could hear was hammering and drilling, really loud and the extractor fan in the bathroom is super loud, causing us to wake up a few times. For some reason, it just keeps getting louder. The toilets downstairs had no locks (they were broken) and they were very grubby and old looking. The bar is expensive. £1.80 for a can of Pepsi is insane

Acceptable for the price

The room had all basic requirements including a desk and chair, wardrobe space, tv, mirror, kettle and tea/coffee supplies, bath with shower, towels. The room and bathroom were clean enough and the bed was comfortable. There was free WiFi and a car park free for hotel guests.

Some of the finishes on the decoration and fittings in the room need to be improved. The shower flow was poor and temperature control was tricky. There was only one coat hanger. Communal areas need modernising.

Everything!! From the minute we drove into the car park it didn’t feel safe. On entering the hotel the staff were not very friendly. We went into our room which was the worst room I have ever seen. Mould everywhere, I don’t think anywhere had been cleaned. I think they only changed the beds. There were alot of people hanging around in the car park. It was that bad we didn’t even stay, we took the long drive home instead.

Easy access from motorway for one new ght

Near war memorial park and earlsdon avenue south so I could walk my dog. I lived there 30 years ago so I was going to look at it Hotel easy to get to from motorway from Liverpool. Room ok.

It had a lot of people who looked like they lived there. It was ok for one night but a bit depressing to stay there longer.

Not happy with the room.

The room was not clean. The curtains came off the top, side wardrobe broken. The mirror was disgusting not cleaned atall its like an animals paw had been on it. Had no choice but to stay there but not what I was expecting.

Don’t stay here - filthy!

Nothing. The property was not fit for guests.

There are many things wrong with the property. We stayed here as a family, across 3 rooms. All the rooms were filthy. The windows are broken, they don’t close properly. The front door bracket was broken so anyone could have broken in. The carpets are filthy, I didn’t take my shoes off. The bathroom was so dirty, the shower curtain was yellow, limescale all around the toilet, bath panel had holes in, mirror had a big crack right across it. My brother’s mattress was yellow! They played music so loud till 1am and I complained about it twice, they didn’t turn it down - it was making the glasses in the room shake! The property is not suitable for guests at all. I have emailed booking.com to make a complaint and receive a full refund.

What a whole 3 hours joke of a place

Nothing apart from the view

On arrival there was nobody at reception had to wait for the maintenance man to call the manager to come. So we decided to go and had a drink in the bar but no staff member to serve us. Finally after 25 minutes manager arrived and gave us the key to our room. Got in the room to find dirty carpet, towels and no tv remote, so back to reception to speak with the manager, towels sorted and told him he will send the maintenance guy up to us with a remote. Maintenance guy arrived and said that he hasn’t got one for the tv and can’t do anything. Manager said that he would refund me £10 which I refused and ended up leaving the dirty hotel getting in the car and going back home fuming.

Disappointing Stay Unfortunately, my stay at Hylands Hotel was very disappointing. The room was in poor condition — the bed was extremely uncomfortable, and although there were tea and coffee supplies, there was no kettle provided. The TV barely worked and was stuck with subtitles on. The bathroom was particularly unpleasant, especially as someone with a medical condition. The shower curtain was stained and unclean, and the shower/bath setup didn’t allow for a cool shower and was hard to turn off. I wouldn’t recommend staying here based on my experience.

The rooms look nothing like the photos. There was bare wires hanging from the ceiling with no light fittings. There was damp and mould. The tv was half broken. Bits of the wall had been patched up. We didn’t even stay we went and stayed somewhere else. We requested a refund and are still waiting

No breakfast included

Filthy toilet. No plug for bath or sink so could not have a bath when staying. No remote for the tv. Requested all the above but they had none. Also room was not cleaned for second night and no tea or coffee or clean mugs put out . Also guests should be warned about loud music downstairs until 3am so sleep impossible

All was good, the room 75 was newly decorated.

The corridors are dated and could do with improvements. Cleaning could have been a bit better, no bins in the room, no soap apart from the showe gel, but it was fine for just one night.

Diabolical

Nothing it was dirty and smelly

The stay here was terrible, the hotel is filthy dirty and smells are masked by some horrific air freshener. We spent most of the time outside in the park across the road.. from 11pm there was constant noise with doors slamming and people shouting this went on until 3.30am we decided to leave and go and sleep in our van. I gave the key to a man on reception, who when we told him we were leaving and how to complain…. He just said booking.com…. Never once asked us if we would like another room or what the issues were. What a waste of money…..

TOTALLY AND UTTERLY UNACCEPTABLE

The Staff were useless when i complained that there was no hot water, I paid for a family room but was issued a single, again the staff refused to sort, Police were on site on the first night, i was verbally harassed by an unstable resident, I did not feel safe during my stay, the restaurant was not open for service so no availability for meals or breakfast - this is honestly the worst hotel i have stayed in and if this is the sort of Hotel that booking.com is recommending then i will be more diligent in the future on who i use to sort hotel bookings AGAIN THIS IS THE WORST HOTEL I HAVE STAYED IN AND WILL NOT EVER BE STAYING THERE AGAIN
