Grand Hôtel Lille

As usual here the staff were helpful, cheerful, efficient and overall welcoming. The hotel has a friendly ambience. I have stayed here on several occasions and hope to do so again.

Great location and hotel for a city break.

Clean basic room and en-suite bathroom. Comfy bed and windows that could be opened. Fantastic location in the middle of Lille right by main train station. Safe and free coffee in room. 24 hour reception services.

Average breakfast offering. Rooms slightly dated.

The Grand Hotel Lille is a budget hotel with rates that feel quite expensive for what it offers. * Room size: acceptable * Bed size: A standard double bed, but the quality of the pillows is very poor. It’s almost like there’s nothing inside the pillowcases. * You can also hear the room next door talking quite loudly. On out second and 3rd night, I was awaken by noise from the hallway and the people talking next door. * Cleanliness: They make the bed and change the towels, but I don’t think they vacuum if you ask for the room to be made up. Every time we return to the room, there is still hair and other dirt on the floor. * They use paper cups in the bathroom and for tea and coffee, which feels low quality * Bathroom: very small * No fridge in the room * No air conditioning, although this is being mentioned on their website •Lift is very small If you book a room with breakfast, don’t expect much. The options are very limited: croissants, pain au chocolat, brioche, and baguette, along with one type of cold cut, two types of cheese, fresh fruits, yogurt, and cereals. The coffee is not good, and there are no hot options like eggs—not even boiled eggs. Overall, it’s a very basic breakfast. I would recommend skipping the hotel breakfast. Just a 5–10 minute walk away, PAUL Lille offers better value, with deals like coffee and a croissant for under €5. On the positive side, the location is convenient, and there are many other hotels nearby to choose from. Most of the front desk staff were very accommodating, especially the gentleman and the lady working the afternoon shift during our checkout, though one staff member had an unfriendly attitude.
