Great Stay and Very Good Value!

I was initially allocated room 107, which was a bit dark and dingy and at the rear of the hotel. I requested a change and was given room 216.....so much brighter, roomier and at the front of the building. The room was warm and very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and there were quite a variety of options. The staff were very friendly.

Regarding the room change I mentioned. I was pleased to have been given a room change but considering that there were only a handful of other guests staying at the hotel, I don't know why I was allocated the 'dingy' room in the first place.

Great place to stay

The room was very big with a massive tv great bathroom with shower and bath. Great view from the room. Chaplain's restaurant was lovely the food and service was great . Breakfast was great no complaints. Only short walk into the town and a lovely walk along the sea front . Overall we had a great time and would return. Thank you

Only negative was the carpet leading into the room were very stained and needed a good clean or for it to be replaced.

Beautiful hotel, full of character.

Lovely, friendly staff, beautiful hotel in well maintained grounds. Loved seeing the Highland Cows every day, such beautiful creatures. We were given complimentary upgrade to a lovely, garden view room.

Due to essential maintenance, we had two days with no gas e.g. heating and hot water. However, we were kept informed and were able to make alternative arrangements for bathing.

Excelkent location, great value for money, very friendly staff.

Very friendly staff at reception on arrival. Room was very spacious and bed comfortable. Food was delicious with plenty of choice from menu. Hotel was very clean and staff in restaurant were brilliant very friendly and couldn't do enough to make your stay more relaxing. Plenty of car parking space in an excellent location. Will certainly stay again Excellent value for money.

Never Again

The carpets were clean and new looking. Large tv in room. Very quiet location.

The shower was hard to turn on and off as the controls were very stiff due to age. There was no soap by the sink. There were dark hairs in the bath. The tv was on top of a unit and it was difficult to see the whole screen. I paid for a double bed, but was given 2 single beds pushed together. It was very uncomfortable to sleep on 2 mattresses and the hotel management said most of their rooms had beds like this, but they only occasionally receive negative feedback about it. The photos on booking.com are very misleading. This seems to be happening more and more often on booking.com. The cleaner was blocking the whole corridor with dirty sheets and cables from the hoover and made no attempt to move them when he saw us trying to get past with our luggage.

Happy stay in Forres

The hotel is situated at the end of a long driveway and a long way from the main road making it secluded and very quiet. The hotel is surrounded by lovely grounds, excellent for walking around with the added bonus of Red squirrels and Highland cows in the adjacent field. The rooms are spacious and well furnished with everything you require for a relaxing stay.

The staff were very accommodating. Had everything i person needed. The bed was a good softness

The room needed some urgent work done on it. The shower was difficult to turn on, an older person couldn't have done it. The sink had a crack thru it. The bed had no protector on it. The window locks were falling off so couldn't open the windows.

We had a car and veey near everything. You are so near the road but feel you are not with view. The staff were soo friendly, each one of them always had a smlie.

Grim and then great!

After we complained about our allocated room we were moved to an executive room which was excellent. The food throughout was very good and the staff were brilliant.

We were given a Courtyard room which was grim and depressing. It smelled of damp and the furniture had many pieces of veneer missing. The Wi-Fi did not extend to this room. The tv had 3 lines running across the screen and the signal failed consistently. The failure of the bathroom extractor fan to work at all, meant that the bathroom door had to be kept open in order for the room to dry out, and consequently the window in the room became a waterfall as the water vapour in the air condensed. We should not have had to complain. The room was unfit for occupation. Credit to the hotel is that they moved quickly to resolve our complaint but they should have known!

Beautiful and peaceful hotel with lots of character, easily accessible from Inverness by car.

Beautiful property, very quiet. Lots of great character - exactly what you want when visiting Scotland. And so excited about the friendly hairy coos! The staff were welcoming and attentive. We enjoyed spending time at the Chaplin Bar in the evenings, a nice end to the day. Very easily accessible by car from Inverness and a great location for visiting the highlands.

Some of the furnishings were looking a little tired, though it didn’t bother us at all.

A lovely peaceful hotel with very helpful staff

We stayed for one night at the start of a 10 day holiday in Scotland. The hotel is lovely - with a comfortable room, good bathroom, and excellent food which we really enjoyed. My husband did not feel well at the time and the receptionist very kindly gave us a later check out so that he could rest for the morning. The hotel is very quiet and peaceful, overlooking the sea. Nairn Golf Club is just a short walk (beware of the golf balls!) and there are country walks around the grounds. We would definitely go back and would also look for other hotels in the chain when next in Scotland.

Lovely option to stay outside of Inverness.

We really like everything about the property except the electrical outlets.

The outlets by the beds were only for the special plugged lamps. We need to borrow extension cords for breathing machine and it was weird. Luckily they did have one long enough for us. Other than that, a great stay.

A perfect stay in a gorgeous location!

The location was great! Our room had a view of Loch Lomond. Moonrise was gorgeous from the shore just across the street. The room was large and comfortable. The Hungarian receptionist was warm and welcoming and there were cozy areas to sip wine or Scotch whiskey in the lounge and elsewhere on the ground floor. Less than a half mile up the road to the left of the hotel was a restaurant in a former church where we had a delicious meal. (Meals were also offered at the hotel.) Breakfast was abundant and the best of our whole trip, and located in a beautiful dining room with high ceilings and large windows. The hotel is located directly across the street from Loch Lomond's Bonnie Bonnie Banks where you can catch a boat for a cruise on the lake or simply stroll after dinner and watch the moonlight on the Loch.

Beautiful looking hotel

What a beautiful looking hotel set in woods and massive gardens. The room was really nice and spacious. We did order a double bed but we got 2 single beds and my bed was all broken underneath and looked very old and tattered you also felt like you were sinking in so the comfort wasn’t very great For the price we payed I would have expected better. The breakfast was good the restaurant was very nicely done.

I felt very let down by the beds in the room. The divan base I noticed was all worn and very old the material that covered it was all ripped and it had springs in it, so with the very soft mattress on top you sank in so much. Beds were put together but they were at different heights.

Fabulous room & location, evening waiting staff were excellent very attentive and friendly.

Breakfast was very disappointing- plate was swimming with grease, poached egg not cooked properly egg white was still runny, toast was like bread that had been warmed up and not seen a toaster/grill, absolutely no comparison with dinner the evening before. I’m guessing the receptionist on check out had learnt not to ask “how was your stay?” for fear of the answer she may have received. Bar man disappeared after serving us a drink each, possibly he had finished his shift but didn’t ask if we would like another drink or anything else before he left.

Lovely hotel getaway

A beautiful hotel in a stunning location. We had the 2 bedroom Fraser Suite which was very roomy and very comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful Breakfast was plentiful and a good selection of cold and cooked food. Food in the restaurant was lovely The basket of fruit and the bubbles on arrival was a lovely touch

There was no TV in the lounge area but one in each bedroom however there was only 1 remote between them We had to find staff at certain times to get a drink at the bar
