Comfortable, cosy, but would have benefited from value of money overall

Well located, tasteful decor, and cosy atmosphere.

Value for money for overall package, availability of ad hoc facilities (e.g dental kits), and availability of dedicated storage rooms for bags (asked to leave in front of reception with hope of CCTV).

Lovely place, would stay again but small improvements would make a big difference.

Location, interesting building and garden. Great parking and breakfast. Quirky quiet room.

Great hotel and fantastic staff.

The property was very charming and well located. The rooms are very nice and well appointed, and the room and bathroom were spotless. We were a little disappointed in the view from our room initially (all first floor rooms look out over the roof, but some rooms (40/41) are much better than others (44)), but the staff were incredibly nice and even showed us other rooms to pick from! The breakfast was amazing, and great vegetarian options as well. Would definitely stay here again. Secure, free parking at the back of the hotel is a bonus! Just drive down the backstreet until you see a sign posted for the hotel (it’s farther than you think).

Perhaps to be expected, but the rooms are not really (read: really not) soundproofed at all. 2-3 neighboring couples were enjoying themselves during our first day / night :) and we could follow the tv from neighboring rooms. But since it’s an old building I guess you can’t complain too much about it!

They had a private group who who had their Xmas party sadly they were a complete nightmare no consideration to other guests at all Loud Rude Leary 2.30/0300am woke I think every guest staying the manager had a real issue not what you expect at a £210pn Cotswold stay extremely poor and tiring stay!

Not the best given the cost and reputation

Location

There was an issue with room allocation on arrival. The initial room allocated my partner couldn’t stand up in the bathroom. Our alternative was better but no tv remote. Hotel couldn’t provide such with a replacement. Breakfast service was slow and food Luke warm on the Sunday however much improved the next day.

The bedroom. Large, comfortable, refurbished and at the front of the property. The staff - excellent attitudes across every aspect of hotel operations and every working levelp

The hotel could have been warmer. The catering operations (restaurant) require significant attention to detail. The chefs skills were very poor. The main dinner course was inedible; ingredients were not cooked properly( undercooked) with even potatoes totally inedible. The breakfast so-called grilled kipper was straight out of a supermarket plastic bag. All this from a 4 star establishment. An overall expensive visit with poor value for money.

A magical trip to the Cotswolds

I went in November 2025 it was very cold to visit the Cotswolds but the hotel was the cherry on the cake. It was cozy and has a beautiful garden. The breakfast was good and with a nice view on the garden. The room interior was lovely and warm. The reception was helpful and nice.

The temperature dropped to zero at night and the toilet was not warm enough.

Will not stay again .

The location and the hotel decor was good. The room was large and very comfortable. The gardens was wonderful. Our evening meal was brill.the best sticky pudding i have tasted.

I found the restraurant staff very cold and edging on rude. Our even meal on the first night was spoilt due to the in difference of the staff. Our main course was presented while we were finishing our first course. My wifes plate was taken away when she was chewing the last mouthful . The head waiter followed us to pay the bill. When he would have known my card details were held at reception. Breakfast was the same . We ate at a different hotel the second night due to the problems of the first night.

Worth a stay and in a good location for exploring the Cotswolds.

Welcoming reception, room perfect but cosy fits the description. It was fine for one night stay, if I would stay longer or even next time I would book a bigger room. Bathroom excellent. Tea tray perfect. Bed comfortable, but the room did get very warm.

Nice and cozy

Very cozy and tastefully decorated. The lobby area with the fire and the library were very comfortable and it felt like a very relaxing place to be. We were in the Lavender room, which looked just like the pictures and it was very clean and comfortable. Overall the hotel retains its old building charm but at the same time it has been renovated to have modern amenities (like USB and USB-C plugs on the walls). The reception staff was very nice and helpful, too! We had dinner and some drinks at the restaurant and bar and everything was absolutely delicious. Breakfast was very yummy too.

The restaurant staff seemed a bit less courteous than the bar and reception staff.
