You can pay a lot less for a night's accommodation in Blackpool, but with the Big Blue you get a really lovely hotel, spacious rooms with good facilities, and lovely staff who make you feel welcome.
My advice is to enjoy all the cheap things about Blackpool, but splash out a little on your accommodation and stay at the Big Blue. It's a few tram stops down from the busy part of town near the tower, but that's a good thing, because you get to enjoy the peace, the fabulous beach, and if amusement rides are your thing, you are just on the doorstep of the Pleasure Beach.
Deluxe double rooms are bigger than average, and have a fridge and a safe, as well as the kettle as standard in all rooms. If you want a view of the Pleasure Beach from your room, let the staff know when you book or you arrive at the hotel. If you want a side sea view from your window, ask for a high room facing the car park. We watched the sun go down and the sunset was lovely.
We will definitely stay at the Big Blue again. It's a great hotel, and if you're flexible about when you visit, you can get great rooms at a reasonable price.
I like everything about the Big Blue. I suppose if I had to pick something to criticise, it would be the price of the car park. At £20 a night, it's no wonder people try to find a parking spot on the road. We arrived at 1pm and there was plenty of space to park on the road, but by checkin time at 3pm, choices were limited. Bear this in mind if you are planning your stay.

Good sized family room. With nice bunk bed space for children.
Long walk to room. There was an exit to car park near room but it wasn’t available.

The hotel was clean and the staff were lovely
Sadly there was a lot of noise in the corridors that went on til around 2am children running up and down. I also feel the charge for the parking is a bit much. As we are guests who are spending time and money using the facilities I feel it should be free

Have to admit though, the breakfast was pretty cold 🥶

Son loved the family room with his own little part with tv and snakes and ladders game. Shower was powerful, bed was comfy and clean. All round good. Arrived at midday and was able to check in. Really good size room plenty of space.
I think £20 for parking is a bit steep. Thought I’d booked the hotel with breakfast but I hadn’t and when we enquired about how much that would be we thought that was a bit pricey too.

Breakfast excellent, room comfortable, bed too short.
Mattress too short for 6'3" sleeper.

Staff good hotel clean
No hot water could not have a bath or shower on the morning
Our friends who were there paid £18 each for breakfast not worth it.
Hotel wanted £20 to park overnight because we booked with a third party.

Evening meals were very good. Staff were pleasant and friendly. Breakfast was OK, all self-service but rather limited choice and warmth of the 'hot' food.
We booked a wheelchair accessible double room, and were 'upgraded' to a suite. This was OK but was situated a long way from the hotel entrance, a long wheelchair journey from reception, and two floors up in a lift. A room closer to the hotel entrance would have been much more convenient. The suite had a large and accessible bathroom but the toilet was separately situated and not easily accessible by wheelchair !

exactly what I expected
Television did not work most of the time on most of the channels. Poor connectivity issues every day .
Also the dinning hall could not really cope, they were unable to accommodate bookings for people at peak hours for evening meals on both nights.
Also the housekeeper knocked on my door at 9.25 am on my day of departure to clean my room, even though I had the room until 11am and had clearly not 'checked out' had she talked to hotel reception.. I was still getting up !! It made me feel rushed.
Cost of parking at hotel at £20 per night is excessive . its £9 across the road in the NCP

The bedroom was warm, comfortable, and spacious, with quality fittings and linen, with a good view of the fun park. The staff were professional, helpful, and friendly. The breakfast was lovely.
The breakfast area was badly set out and appeared to be ill-managed. We were there for 2 days and although we pre-booked our breakfast time slot and table, we still had to queue for over 10 minutes on both days. On the second day the queue was backed up to the reception area and people were leaving without their breakfast

It’s just a wee thing that can’t be helped but one was it was really nosey up to about 11:30,our girls couldn’t settle because of it,it was like people bang and sounded like running up and down the corridor but like I said it couldn’t be helped.

Excellent breakfast, lots of choice and good service. Nice room a little noisy, next door to children but not a problem. A swimming pool would have been nice. Good parking, a little expensive. Near to a tram stop, quieter part of Blackpool
A safe in the room

I loved how the hotel has been refurbished. The quality of the decor is exceptional. The family rooms were well thought out to provide space for the children. The deluxe double room was more of a suite. My family felt safe.

We got an upgraded room (junior suite instead of a deluxe double). One of the nicest, well equipped rooms we have ever stayed in.
Service in the restaurant was not that good. Buffet breakfast was OK but expected a bit more choice.

The room was a good size with all the normal amenities you would expect. Location was good to visit Blackpool, only a short walk to a tram stop
Thought the cost of parking was excessive £20 for one night. Hotel opposite was £10 per day and FREE for residents. Found this out too late or would have parked there instead.

Heating being off after 10 as i have cancer and treatment makes me cold and shaking. So the use of extra heat to room would of been good but staff could not help

room was clean and tidy
bed comfortable
outside view from the room amazing.
breakfast choice for vegans/ vegetarians very poor.
no breakfast buffet choice out for vegetarians.
usually other hotels display a choice for breakfast for non meat eaters and meat eaters but with the big blue hotel you have to ask for a cooked vegetarian alternative.
milk and coffee not topped up in the room.

Location and great for kids (grandchildren in our case). Right by the Pleasure beach station and near a tram stop so no need for a car. Great kids rooms with bunks and TVs.
No mushrooms at breakfast.

Lovely reception staff, clean bedding and bathroom, not bad choice for breakfast
Staff in restaurant were overworked so weren’t very happy and I asked three members of staff for a breakfast item eventually one answered me…which wasn’t in stock , or had run out in the end….shortage of cups meaning guests had to wait, most were irate

Ordinarily it was the best location and best appearance and best facilities
Well, I mean people are just acting as each other, going nuts, ripping each other off, and being rude, arriving en masse etc, and then what? We can’t get drinks or party all night and pass numbers and stories and speak like this ? Wot? And pre organised to beat up, what we have been breaching and cloning with numbers and accounts?!
