Rooms were ok Good location

Only given a single room when booked a twin. Then given keys to another room. Walked in a couple were in bed (embarrassed) given keys to another room. Keys didn’t work! Meanwhile we had to carry our cases up and down two flights of stairs (no lifts) each time to sort out their mistake.

The staff were as helpful as they could be. They are the front line stars. Given the condition of our initial room, the duty manager quickly facilitated a move to another room which was in an acceptable condition.

Due to it's proximity to family, we have stayed at Hillcrest over Christmas for many years. We have seen many changes - unfortunately all for the worse. The room we were assigned had faulty sockets and lights. The heating was not functional and in the bathroom the general condition was very poor with missing enamel on the sink and taps with worn washers to the point they were near impossible to turn on or off. The hotel is in desperate need of a maintenance overhaul at the very least. For us, the location is perfect when visiting family, so we would really hope that the management team take a grip and restore this hotel to a reasonable standard.

The location was fine

When we checked into our room it was occupied, so they moved us to a tiny room, we originally booked luxury double we were given a very small room with a very small double, and the bed was extremely uncomfortable.

Its very quiet and peaceful you don't hear any noise at all,

The bed was disgusting,it had a very large dip in the bed it was awful,if that mattress was in my home it would of been replaced

The restaurant was closed and it was not advertised the restraunt was closed certain days of the week. Also the bathroom was not the cleanest when we pulled back the shower curtain to have a shower.

The only great thing was that the party for a family member was held on the same floor as our room and that we didn't have to get a taxi to/from the venue. The food on the buffet was very nice, all the usual favourites done very well.

On the face of it the hotel looks great, but look a little closer and you can see it's grubby in a lot of places and downright dirty in others - an actual biohazard in my son and daughter-in-law's room that prompted a room move and an upgrade. There's a lot of repairs that need to be addressed, and the fact that the bar wasn't available on arrival, nor food available, was a disappointment. The bars in the hotel were very poorly stocked, with not even basics like a bottle of rose wine available. There was a fire alarm activated during the afternoon, on leaving my room I could not find the emergency exit, it was not clearly sign posted, and got lost in the building - no visible signage pointed to a clearly marked exit. Breakfast on departure day was poor in the extreme, and throughout the stay staff seemed to disappear so the poorly stocked bar rarely had anyone serving in it. Another issue on departure day was the failure of the lift. This building doesn't seem to be really accessible, I certainly struggled to get up and down the stairs.

On the whole it looks good but there are lots off problems like the sink was painted and it was coming off and the toilet didn’t flush properly it was clean but not very well maintained.

Bar menu was very limited, half the drinks weren't available, the breakfast buffet was the bare minimum. The place was a bit scruffy in some areas

The check in service was awful on this occasion. On previous stays it was wonderful. The room, the very last room in the corridor to the left of reception was disgraceful, the room was cold, the bed mattress was so thin that the springs were felt. The TV was hanging off the wall, the shower was filthy, the electrical appliances including the kettle were on the floor and all plugged in to extension cables which did not look safe to me. This is the first time I have ever complained about a hotel room as I am a very tolerant person but I would not let my dog stay in that room ! I have stayed in other rooms in this hotel and they were fine.

The method of getting into the bedroom was very very difficult. The handle was placed too close to the door frame - I caught my fingers several times. We have travelled extensively and never experienced anyting like this! The bedroom smelt very very strongly of smoke. There was continual noise in the night because of a banging door. The TV could not work because of a missing flex which was replaced but we could get only 1 channel. If you did not like one of 3 pizzas or 1 type of risotto there was nothing to eat for dinner. At breakfast there was food but no staff visible. We particularly chose this hotel because we had been many years ago - we will not make this mistake again.

At first it looked like it was going to be nice. Looked nice on entrance. The lads on reception very polite.

The banging party going on, rude reception staff,doors banging all night, check out staff seemed even less interested about any complaints as I am to stay here again. Shame as a year ago, last time we stayed it was brilliant

I absolutley loved this hotel. The staff were great. The room was huge and so comfy and warm. Plenty of room and peaceful with very little noise. An outstanding stay. To the point of i was going to leave at 0730 but didnt check out till 9am. Thank you

It was clan and fairly comfortable.

You've stopped doing evening meals so we had to find somewhere else to eat. We have used this hotel quite often when we visit family members because we travel from Lincoln. Because of the meal situation I don't think that we will staying with you again.

Once we pulled up outside the hotel looked lovely but after walking into reception I was speechless, the marble floors, the beautiful lighting, the staff were more than helpful, sadly there was an 18th birthday party the night we stayed but there was noise coming from downstairs so didn't spoil the night away, the room was big and spotless clean, very good value for money, the breakfast is £6:95, but was worth a lot more, we are planning another trip down south and hope to stay here again but for longer

What didn't I like? Well I would have to be very picky and say the only thing I'd have to say is outside it says hotel, bar and restaurant, they don't have a restaurant but they do a very few celected bar snacks but there is a fantastic chippy, chineese and pizza place less than a 2 minute walk so that made up for it

unfortunately there were several issues in the room no.1, the carpet hadnt been hoovered prior to our arrival and we had to ask twice before this was done, the night manager hoovered it approximately 10pm saturday night, no.2 the bathroom sink wasnt draining properly and took literally hours to do so which meant we couldnt use the sink, no.3, the bin wasnt emptied for two days, no.4, the shower operation was very stiff and not easy to use

The entrance was very hopeful it clean and modern but the rooms and the level of service sadly did not match.

The rooms especially the bathroom were very below par in terms of cleanliness the mattresses were stained the child bunk beds weren’t stable

It was in a superb location for me

No restaurant, no working shower , constant noise and shouting from other residents at all hours of the day and night. The smell of weed is overwhelming and the breakfast is always empty and slowly refilled

The stay was fairly okay and welcoming staff and polite. A very quiet spot also which I enjoyed with the view of the road.

The room that was given had a broken head board which kept on falling off all night the room was cold heating wasn't working. Which I was freezing. The TV couldn't turn on because the remote wasn't working .

Room wasn’t cleaned well dead spiders on bathroom floor, cob webs in the room, bed very uncomfortable and bottom sheet didn’t even fit the mattress. very dated and tiles peeling off the wall in the lift. Very noisy lift and squeaky door to hall meant not much sleep. Went to go to the bar 8pm but no one in it including staff. Breakfast was ok but definitely not worth £6.95

Huge fight, shower broken, hot water tap continuously dripping, few other smaller issues.

Decor very tired, broken tiles, broken door knob, fridge didn't work so our oat oat milk curdled, cold breakfast, no eggs or pure orange, padlocks on the toilets outside our room.

This place was really nice. The staff friendly, the room was huge. It was warm but had the best fan ive ever seen in a hotel. Wifi amazing. Had a lovely stay.

The location suited us. The breakfast quality of food very poor.

Very noisy, slamming door and banging disco music until late one night. The water didn’t stay in the sink, ? plug not fitting. Such a waste of water. The shower was poor.
