Time and time again, we find ourselves returning to this hotel — and it never disappoints. From the great location to the excellent facilities, the true highlight is the exceptional staff.

A lovely hotel with great staff.

Lovely spacious room with view overlooking Lake Lugano. The bathroom was very modern and large, and the walk-in shower always had plenty of hot water. Buffet breakfast had plenty of hot and cold choices and staff were very prompt in serving coffee. Hotel was a 5 minute walk to the train station along a well lit sidewalk.

Minor issues - no coffee maker or kettle in the room and no box of tissues, also no peephole in the door and no luggage rack although space in the wardrobe to store it upright. Main disadvantage for me, being a light sleeper, was the noise from the trains during the night which woke me up.

Just did not live up to its potential.

The staff were lovely, particularly Chinga. The breakfast buffet was superb, more choice than we have seen anywhere else on our travels The dinner menu was good and the food and service were excellent. The history of the place and the upkeep of the original decor was exceptional

Although we were given an upgrade room and although we did request a lake view ... we were disappointed. We could just about see the lake through the buildings in front. The dining room was bland, uninviting and lacking in atmosphere. Worst of all was the noise of freight trains all through the night. Very, very loud. We could have closed the window but the room was very stuffy. If we had known we would have swapped the limited view for a quieter room at the back maybe. Advance information of how to get to the hotel would also have been helpful when faced with a main road and a train track.

Fabulous traditional hotel with all modern conveniences. Brilliantly clean, excellent breakfasts - superb staff. Right next to the train station. Restaurant is also very good. Would definitely stay here again.

A lovely hotel we only wished we could have stayed at longer

Everything was immaculate. The room was a little on the small side but had everything we needed (apart from tea/coffee making facilities). There was even a view of the lake from the terrace outside our room. After arriving very late because of transport issues, we were met by a very kind and helpful lady who not only arranged for us to park our car, she also arranged for bar to stay open to serve us drinks, even though it officially had closed. There was also a very kind man who took our luggage in for us. The buffet style breakfast had just about everything anyone could want.

It would have been nice to have drinks making facilities in our room. But it was only a minor issue

Too expensive for a decent hotel room.

The breakfast was quite varied with something for everyone. The air conditioning was a welcome relief after many days with either no air conditioning or very little. The location was great. 5 min walk after we got off the train. Very convenient for a quick one night stay.

The hotel could use some updating. The rooms were very outdated. We were on the first floor with a lovely shared terrace but there was no blackout curtain. Just a sheer curtain so anyone walking by could see into our room. All this would be ok if I didn’t pay over $300 usd for this room.

Love Lugano and always stay at this hotel as I really enjoy it.

The location and the view over the garden. The friendly staff and their willingness to assist. This was experienced with reception, the person in the bar and the cleaning staff.

No coffee in the room. For me this is important and is enjoyed when waking up. I had to wait until going down to breakfast to get coffee, and there had to wait a long time to get any. Either have this available in the rooms or self service in the dining room so could be got on arrival. This is a big one for me.

Very nice stay

Location as well as style/ambiance were high points. This property is ideal for travelers using the train system, with the station a 2-minute walk away. The indoor/outdoor bar and restaurant areas as well as the pool area are beautifully landscaped.The rooms, albeit on the small size, are nicely appointed.

Wifi somehow did not work for everyone in our party, but good coverage could be found at the SBB station nearby. Breakfast (all buffet) was ordinary if ample and filling.

The perfect place...

The welcome from staff was personal and warm, particularly our waiter at dinner and breakfast. The palms, grotto, vineyard and mini museum of agricultural equipment were extraordinary. Tomtom sent us the wrong way but it was so worthwhile working out how to get there. A historic hotel, great views over the lake with sparkling lights at night and light morning mist. Lovely balcony. Would be perfect for travelling by train.
