The place is fabulous, definitely will stop there again.
Great location, great staff, fantastic room
The only negative is the price of the drinks -£25 for two drinks seem a bit excessive

Llangoed Hall had heating problems, so they moved our reservation to a sister hotel in Hay which felt lower quality, but we didn't receive any financial credit

This place is stunning. Beautiful building filled with lots of historical furnishings. I had the best bath I've ever had so lovely. Surrounding areas beautiful. Food lush 😋

Food was fresh and carefully prepared. Room was very comfortable and the whole hotel was relaxed and kept in the style of a country house. The abundance of good art and the furnishings set the tone.
The service was pleasant, but rather variable with some unnecessary long delays. Standards (of breakfast presentation ) were not consistent

Often these country house, wedding venue hotels look great in the pictures but can appear a little unloved when you arrive. Not so for Llangoed Hall. And it's full of art, curios and quality furniture. The Laura Ashley link is evident throughout.
Unfortunately breakfast was chaos. Staff members had been delayed and nothing had been prepared. The one poor waiter was run off his feet, milk, juice and buffet were not put out and cooked breakfast was far from what one would expect when it eventually arrived. A real shame as I expect their usual breakfast service is as good as the rest of the hotel.

A very nice hotel, what one would expect for its star rating. Food was excellent and the staff so very obliging. It would have been nice to have had just a few more main choices on the dinner menu.
The room was beautiful and my only observation was that it took me a long time to realise that I had to pull the shower knob to select hot water, especially without my glasses in the shower ! A little warning note would have helped.....
It would be useful to have had a small guide to the many exhibits and pictures. The beautiful ship and locomotive models could have their history displayed.

Location & Nice old building.
Lovely polite young staff.
The toilet in my room hadn’t been cleaned.
No shower cap & possibly would have wanted individual soap, cream etc.
The food was ok but I did arrive end of service.
I would have like a tyre pump. Many rural hotels often have them.

The venue. Interior magical. Exterior impressive with the landscape around. Love the farm with all cows.
We loved the fruits in your garden
The food was excellent along with the presentation. Very polite staff....mostly young members, one in particular, Lucia !
Love your Bar, continental breakfast display, the lounge , and billiard room. We had a beautiful view from our bedroom.
All in all, we loved our mini break at Llangoed Hall. We will definitely recommend this place to family and friends
No entertainment at all available, being far away from everything without a car. No Taxi facilities information ...a bit frustrating !
A live evening entertainment would have been appreciated.
The tennis court was not in use.
A lift to the bedroom would be useful not just l for elderly people but younger guests with heavy luggage.
For guests who have paid in advance , there was a blunder after dinner every evening in terms of paying at the table or adding to our bill. This should not have happened.
This is just an observation. Otherwise, we loved it and will come back. When we were leaving, there was no one at reception to say goodbye , which we thought was a bit impersonal.
Thank you for all your services anyway.

On entering the grounds from the main road I was impressed but to some degree the overall experience did not match the first impression The bedroom was small the bathroom was a good size and well appointed all other areas were well laid out
and a joy to be in. the diner was a little disappointing I was expecting a higher standard the dining service was Ok but staff seamed a bit inexperienced, the restaurant managers suit looked shabby and was maybe a size too small breakfast menu service were good
No really dislikes was planning a return trip but have been to better places

Good room and en-suite, with very comfortable bed.
Superb dinner and breakfast.
Well trained staff.
Peace and quiet in a lovely location.
Beautiful well kept gardens
The breakfast buffet service was difficult, with the buffet in a separate room with the same door in use (both in and out) by guests and staff, creating a bottle neck situation.

Helpful friendly staff. Very good breakfast. Dinner was tasty and well cooked. There was a pleasant welcoming feeling at the hotel and we found the property comfortably warm through out. plenty of free parking right by reception. The room was large and comfortable as was the bed. The room had a delightful view.
The only thing that was difficult for us was no lift to the upper floors, though we were given assistance with the luggage on arrival which was much appreciated. I realise this would not be a problem for every guest.

We had a dog with us, and dined in the library, a location with great atmosphere, and still the service was prompt and efficient.
The bathroom sink pop up plug jammed, making morning ablutions a little awkward.

The staffing levels were inadequate. Service was sometimes slow . Staff were extremely good despite this and tried their best to look after all guests .
The location , buildings and gardens were stunning . The rooms were comfortable and spacious. Fantastic works of art adorn the whole hotel . It’s such a shame that this stunning hotel isn’t getting the attention it deserves from the interesting hotel group.
The hotel needs refurbishment to restore it to its former glory. Threadbare stair carpets and curtains needed mending . It also needs a very thorough clean. Cobwebs in rooms and heavy dust in public areas .

Everything was absolutely beautiful. The building was gorgeous. I thought I was in Downtown Abby, it's that beautiful. It used to be owed by Laura Ashley's family back in the day. I would come back in a heartbeat. Beds were comfortable. We had dinner at the restaurant and the food was beautiful.
I didn't like that we had to wait for some to come check us in. We kept ringing the bell but no-one came for about 15mins. And when she did come, it felt like we've just put her out.
And... The staff to smile a little bit more. It's not going to kill you. There was only one girl who was so beautiful she was the only one that made us feel welcomed. It's like the rest of them didn't want to be there. So disappointing. For such a beautiful place, you expect beautiful people.

Beautiful building in the country side. Spacious rooms.
The furniture was quite dated and not well maintained, with sun-faded upholstery. The armchair in my room was lumpy inside and really in need of reupholstering. The carpet also had visible stains. Overall cleanliness throughout the hotel — including the corridors, restaurant/breakfast area, and the bedroom — was below expectations.

Best hotel pillows I have ever slept on. Beautiful decor, it was like staying in an actual stately home. Plenty of room to roam the grounds with access to the river Wye just a short walk away. The highlight of my weekend was swimming in the river then returning to the comfort of this beautiful hotel and enjoying a drink on the terrace as the sun went down.
Wi-fi access.

A marvellous experience of staying in an Edwardian country house but with modern comforts. Also being able to see original paintings by well known artists including Dame Laura Knight close up was an added amazing bonus.
The views of the countryside from the terraces at the rear of the house were wonderful, not least when the cows were being brought in for milking!
Service at breakfast time was a bit chaotic. I personally did not mind waiting but I noticed one member of staff seemed to be coping alone with both seating guests and serving food. With a bit of planning using existing staff I am sure this could be easily sorted.

We both enjoyed our stay very much. Dinner was excellent. Staff were attentive, helpful and lovely! Breakfast was also very good.
Being charged for bread and olives separately. £4.95 was doubled.

A beautiful building in a wonderful location, surrounded by nothing but nature (and cows!). The suite was a great size, with brilliant views out the window.
There wasn't anything majorly wrong, just a few small things that added up into an average stay in what could have been so much nicer.
- The hotel had no atmosphere. Yes it's hundreds of years old, I know. But it would be really nice to have some quiet piano or classical music in communal areas like the lounges and food areas. It felt like a doctor's waiting room where you knew every word you said was being heard by everyone.
- The 'gardens' aren't gardens at all. At least not anywhere near to the standard you'd expect when a hotel claims you can 'explore the gardens'. There were no nice plants or anything to look at. Anything that would have been nice died a long time ago. Rotting fruit and veg in the kitchen garden area, and weeds everywhere on the patio areas. Disappointing.
- Attention to detail lacked everywhere. Our rainfall shower water pressure was pathetic - I've got wetter in actual rain outside. In-room documents claim local milk for tea and coffee delivered, and toiletries being locally sourced. We got those little plastic milk pots, and White Company toiletries... Of which the dispensers were on their last legs. I had to go and sit back down and wait for the breakfast to be replenished before I could go and get any food except a mushroom and half a hash brown.
On entrance, the window immediately above the doors on the majestic, stunning building is fully of old mattresses and stored furniture. Can literally see it through the window - there must be an out of sight place to store this?!
I don't know if the owners or managers have changed recently or if it's always been this way. Judging by the gardens and general tidiness of the place, it feels like it's being neglected. It's clearly run on a shoestring budget, and maybe the owners are doing everything they can to keep a dying building alive, but I imagine if nothing changes soon and I went back in 2/3 years time, it'd be a disaster.

The junior suite was stunning. The bed was very comfortable especially the goose down pillows
Breakfast is between 8-10. We arrived at 9.30 and some of the food had finished eg scrambled egg and orange juice

Room was very nice and the hotel was stunning. Food was of a very good quality.
Lack of the staff, the staff who we did see seemed unexperienced/uninterested in our issues. Based of the room description we expected the little details like fruit and mineral water which was missing.

A Warm Welcome? Far From It.
While the hotel boasts a charming location and an attractive building, any potential it had was completely overshadowed by the poor standard of service and unprofessional conduct we experienced from the outset.
Upon arrival, there was no staff present to greet us at reception. After waiting and ringing the bell, it took approximately 10 minutes before a man in an unkempt, unironed suit appeared—avoiding eye contact—and asked disinterestedly, “Can I help you?”, as though guests checking in was an unexpected inconvenience. He informed us that someone else would assist us shortly.
Eventually, the manager appeared. When I enquired about a prior arrangement made with a staff member regarding parking assistance—something I had been assured would be no problem—he seemed dismissive and made no effort to address the oversight. His demeanor throughout was abrupt and bordering on aggressive. He escorted us to a dining area and vaguely gestured, stating, “In there for dinner and breakfast,” before taking us to our room. Upon arrival, he realized he didn’t have the key, left without apology, and sent a young staff member in his place to deliver it. At no point did he return or complete the check-in process.
Later, when we asked if we could order a simple cream tea or sandwich, we were bluntly told this needed to be booked 24 hours in advance—an unreasonable policy that was neither communicated beforehand nor typical of any hotel we’ve previously visited.
The entire experience felt more reminiscent of a poorly run sitcom than a professional hospitality venue. Sadly, it’s easy to understand why this hotel may be struggling financially. The lack of basic courtesy, hospitality, and operational competence leaves little desire to return—or recommend it to others. Me and my wife left the hotel after 30 mins of arriving and drove another 5 hours home. Other Google reviews seem to echo these same issues we experienced. The owners must address the management.

Lovely location and grounds - the hotel itself and our suite was lovely
Having booked evening meal tables in advance and confirmed by email no actual table bookings were evident on arrival. First evening delayed by traffic there was no room in the main restaurant so ate in the conservatory. We paid for a suite with dinner bed and breakfast for our daughter and new husband but for 2 of the 3 mornings there was no hot breakfast available having pre paid for this feel that we have not had what we paid for. Staff were not available and those that were seemed untrained and incapable of resolving issues. Table cloths were dirty, no milk in our room which even when asked for and promised never arrived. No toiletries in room. All in all a lovely hotel but a big disappointment as a mini moon.

Lovely location. Comfy bed.
The whole dining experience was utterly dreadful. I would run out of space if I had to list everything that was wrong but it was shambolic from beginning to end. Almost comical it was so bad.
I did leave feedback at the hotel too.

Room was spacious and attractive in a traditional way. Bathroom very good. Both dinner and breakfast were very good.
Tableware needed a clean and a change.
