Great Location, Great Price, Great Staff, Great Stay

First impressions of the hotel was good with the check in and welcome warm cookie. The staff were all friendly, helpful with lovely personalities. The location was great for the harbor and within walking distance for the station and lots f wide parking spaces. Value for money was good and they offered a very nice quality breakfast.

Fantastic location for the station

Fantastic location to the station. Very friendly staff. Excellent facilities and nice quiet rooms.

Excellent Hotel

Lovely hotel with friendly, helpful staff both in reception & the bar. Room is always spotless. Also my husband loves the warm cookie's they offer at reception when booking in. We always stay here, a few times every year, if we are going to see a band at The Fleece, which is about a 5 minute walk away.

Just a little personal thing but we have stayed here about 5 or 6 times every year for the last few years and we have never had a room with a lock on the bathroom door for some reason.

Disappointing comparative to previous stay

Mattress was rock hard, has left me with excruciating aches and back pain which is a shame as the last room I booked there last year did not do this

The hotel was very clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The location was great, close to shops and public transport, which made getting around easy.

The coffee wasn’t very nice, and there wasn’t enough milk available.

Fab location, great buffet breaky and super staff!

Great location as you can easily walk into the city centre. Parking available (at a cost). Friendly and helpful staff. Lovely buffet breakfast with lots of options for a range of dietary needs.

The bedsheets and pillowcases were very noisy. Didn’t like the material but that’s not a big issue.

The hotel was ok as we only stayed one night and there were a few issues that were resolved.

The staff were pleasant. The location was good. Breakfast was good and the checkout time 12 noon was better for us.

The room hadn't been made up when we went into it. We were given complementary drinks and chocolates whilst we waited. Didn't like the used chewing gum on the window air vent in our room. Didn't like being locked out of the restaurant at breakfast time after going to the w/c. Had to knock on the door to catch the attention of staff. This was probably due to stop people entering as it was the end of service.

Pleased to have found this hotel. Will stay there again.

Very convenient for station, only a few minutes walk but on a slightly quieter street. Good breakfast. Appreciated that our order came quickly when we said we had a train to catch. The room was very cold when we arrived as hotel had been very quiet over week between Xmas and New Year but they immediately brought both a heater and extra blankets when requested. Restaurant was closed over the holiday quiet period but had a pleasant dinner in the hotel bar.

Slammimg fire doors all night long and cigarette smoke filling the room through a large gap under the door ( a fire door ) from smokers in the corridor at 4 in the morning

Pleasant stay, with a few gripes.

Still great, convenient location. Nicely laid-out rooms. Good 'soft facilities' e.g. robes, slippers, etc.

Don't like the soap & shampoo dispensers - if these are necessary, surely a better quality soap could be made available? The current soap product feels like instant-eczema. Bed Mattress - still very good, but showing some slight signs of use (Note to management: time to turn them over?) Breakfast buffet OK, but unexciting choices and quality for a hotel of this standard. Pleasant restaurant staff.

Our stay was most enjoyable despite the décor.

All the staff were friendly and efficient. Breakfast was plentiful and the coffee was good. The club sandwich, chips and tea served in the lounge were tasty. The hotel was very convenient for the station and walking into town.

The oppressive brown paint all round the hotel. The furniture in the lounge was dark, old fashioned and not inviting at all.

Location was ideal for exploring city

Disappointed that restaurant was closed at WE - didn’t know and bar menu v limited No instructions in room for coffee maker Left room before 9am and returned after 4 pm but room not serviced. Had to then leave room whilst cleaned ( given free drink at bar) but really just wanted to relax on bed - not good.

We were warmly welcomed by reception staff, warm cookies a nice touch. Very comfortable beds and pillows. Room was good size with excellent facilities. Very easy walk into town.

Great stay.

The room and food was excellent. The only problem was that the heating was off for entire stay. We were grateful for a supplied oil heater, but it did little to combat the cold.

This was a very pleasant stay, we will definitely use this hotel again.

The staff were very pleasant and helpful on our arrival and gave us a choice of rooms. The room we had was clean and tidy and well appointed. The bathroom was clean and the toiletries available were very good. The bed was very comfortable.

Despite being clean and tidy the room was starting to look tired with a couple of cracks in the bathroom tiles slightly took the edge off the overall impression.
