Bland, dated, expensive…

Spa was lovely if not small, staff were pleasant and helpful.

The building is very worn, my room was very dated, the bathroom had damage, broken tiles, shower head that only pointed 90 degrees (straight down), walls were marked, electrics dated and plug sockets behind the bedside table were burned. Breakfast order arrived in the room but was incorrect (missing substitute milk). For the price, I could stay within 15 mins of this location for half the cost. Very overpriced for what it is. I had come to see if this would be a suitable properly for our team to use as a base when working in the area (business owner). Despite the hype, it fell well short of expectations.

A magical stay, can’t wait to return.

Stunning hotel inside and out, with beautiful lake views and perfectly decorated for Christmas. All the staff we spoke to were polite, friendly and went the extra mile to ensure our stay was enjoyable. Our suite was cleaned to a high standard, well maintained and quiet throughout our stay. We have already booked to return next year…

A truly relaxing stay in a lovely setting

Everything was excellent. We had a wonderful stay. The staff was very friendly. Warming and comforting log fires in the lounge.

The only problem I encountered was that the room was cold on our arrival and it took a long time to warm it up, in fact the radiator was never very hot. Everything else was great though.

Great hotel with fantastic staff

The hotel is lovely old traditional Lakeland hotel. Rooms were well equipped and staff went above and beyond and couldn’t be more helpful. Conference facilities were good.

Lovely escape with great facilities and amazing cocktails.

Great location with beautiful views of the countryside. The spa was excellent with plenty of facilities, and being able to have a drink inside made it perfect for a celebration. The cocktails were really good too, we had a couple by the fire and it was a lovely way to end the evening. Overall, a relaxing stay in a peaceful setting. Would definitely come back.

Beautiful historic property and building

Beautiful building, lovely great room and bar that looks over the garden.

No lift, had to leave my rollator on the first floor. Room was too warm even with the window open. No controls for heat or cooling.

The location is amazing, the Hall has kept a lot of its period features but added modern essentials very tastefully. The staff were amazing. Extremely professional, friendly and happy! Lots of interaction with guests and their love of their job and their employers was evident.

Overall very nice but breakfast was very very poor

Room and Staff and hotel was excellent

Breakfast. Was very poor. The buffet at 9.15am had run out of fruit, pastries and when asked if there were anymore was told they would go and check but never came back or refilled the buffet. Breakfast is served until 10am and there were other guests coming in well after us. This actually happened over a three day stay for pastries or fruit or yoghurt, no one looking after the buffet or refilling at all. We did not have a cooked breakfast as not our thing so was really disappointed with the buffet at breakfast. Staff were rushing around trying to do too much. The young lady who brought my coffee out in a cup and saucer spilt most of it in the saucer so only had half a cup and I had to ask her for a napkin to wipe up the coffee in the saucer. She never offered to sort it out as she did not seem to think that this was a problem !! It is a shame because the hotel is fantastic and with someone in charge at breakfast you could put these complaints to bed.

Beautiful Setting but not what we would

Beautiful hotel, beautiful setting, beautiful grounds. Garden suite was a beautiful room.

We had a dog friendly room which was excellent however we were told that all the hotels dining options weren’t dog friendly and we had to order room service instead (where the menu was limited). Other dog friendly hotels that we’ve stayed at allow us to dine somewhere with the dog and normally give us access to the full menu so this was a little disappointing given the price.

Friendly, well trained and professional staff, beautiful room, beautiful grounds and excellent spa facilities with a choice of a Grill or more formal restaurant to eat.
