Room and facilities were excellent. Loved the bar and the location of it within the property. The breakfasy was lovely as was the meal on the evening.
Nothing to be honest. The WiFi could have been stronger in the rooms as I couldn't connect at the back of the room. Have boosters in and around the corridors to help?

Delicious food, plentiful, attentive staff, comfortable bed and spacious bathroom.
A smart TV to watch Netflix!

Very nice log fires in lounge etc
For a Saturday night, things not being available on the menu slightly disappointing. Also for breakfast you are handed a menu and when u order to be told you can’t have poached eggs or omelette because they don’t have a chef on duty. Also some common areas starting to look a bit shabby

The rooms were amazing we stayed in the tap room and it was so lush, the bed was comfy and clean and everything was lovely 😍 the wedding decor for our friends were so nice and elegant.
We thought the breakfast was a little pricey for what we got but there was a nice selection of breakfast material.
Some of the furniture needs updating as we noticed some damages to some of the dining chairs but again the good furniture does suit the olden style of the house.

There was unprecedented weather when we stayed at this location. The staff were excellent and attended to all our needs. The snow was beyond comprehension. We left day early due to ongoing travel and the weather forecast.
Nothing.

Great Christmas decorations. Lovely grounds. Comfortable room with large ensuite. Staff helpful in booking dinner and breakfast. Efficient service at breakfast. Towel rail in bathroom heated the room well.
Room could have been warmer on arrival but did heat up. Condensation on windows in room but it is an old building. Might have been better to self serve cereals but not a problem. Overall only minor points.

Location, the view and the food
Some of the staff were rude, not very accommodating, every request seemed to be a chore.
internal upkeep is rather poor (very worn carpets, ceiling paint peeling, tiles falling off walls)
asked for extra beds that they said would provide many times but didn't. This resulted in two adults and two children in a bed and a teenager on the floor.
Whilst being served beef it slid off the plate onto the table. The member of staff scraped it off the table back onto the plate and served it to us. We couldn't believe it, more so when she was rude when we asked for another.
Very pricey for what you get or should I say dont get.
It is not disabled friendly. Lots of steps/stairs.

The location is beautiful rural Aberdeenshire.
Breakfast & dinner were fab.
£7.80 for a beer & 11.50 for vodka with cola is way over the top. Taking advantage of the remote location 8n our view.

Breakfast was excellent. I can recommend the omlette which was huge and very well cooked.
I was given a room upgrade, and the suite was lovely. Though a little cool, particularly to start with, as a window had been left open. However it did warm up.
I particularly appreciate a decent coffee machine in the room.
WiFi was very poor. I appreciate it is a large rambling building but even in the core rooms, like the dining room and lounge, it didn't seem to be very good at all.

It’s a shame it’s a little tired .

Room was good but a bit warm, however, that was better than it being too cold considering the time of year. The service afforded by the barman was exceptional; taking us from the small bar area to the main lounge where he stoked the log burner, brought our drinks, and provided treats and a bowl of water for my daughter's dog.
The other staff that we encountered were all very personable and polite, and extremely helpful.
I am sure that this hotel would be a hit with visitors from abroad who wanted to experience a bit of "history" rather than just another "faceless" corporate hotel room
Getting to the hotel was a bit of a drive of about 25 minutes, compounded by the fact that there was a heavy fog that night (obviously of no fault of the hotel !). When the fog lifted in the morning, the same route back to Aberdeen took about 15 minutes.
The hotel itself could do with a little bit of TLC but it certainly was not at a level that I would not stay again.
Other than these two, minor, comments, we found the hotel to be very welcoming with outstanding staff

The setting and surrounding area of gardens and scenery. The staff were very welcoming and the afternoon tea was fabulous.
Our room was extremely warm, the radiator in the bathroom would not go off,our shower was leaking and the toilet would not flush properly. We had an evening meal there which was overpriced for what we got. My husband at breakfast had an omelette which was filled with mozzarella cheese and was tasteless. All these points were shared with the staff.

Nice gardens and location
Room was very large but all a bit dated and need to some TLC, eg sash windows were broken and held up by a rolled up towel. Even the bath towels were in the wash and they gave us bathrobes instead. Carpets, lights, deco, bathroom etc needs attention. Loved the Penhaligon bath accessories😁.

Stylish, historic property, attentive service. Great surroundings, garden and walking paths.
Overall a bit more maintenance in rooms would add value. The food is a bit overpriced compared to other options, but it is of fine quality.
Our window was above the kitchen, and it gave is unwelcome scents when we opened it.

Traditional Scottish Hotel and hospitality.
Staff were excellent as nothing too much trouble.
Very welcoming, friendly and genuinely interested in assisting their guests to have a memorable stay.
Maybe could have been warmer inside as it was Scotland after all.

Beautiful countryside…. Stunning building from outside. Staff were friendly and dinner was very good. Breakfast was tasty .
On first sight the building is so impressive but immediately on entry you see it’s very tired. Old fashioned but not in a tasteful way. Shabby not chic. Threadbare carpet, flaking paint, no cleaning service, stuffy, old fashioned staid atmosphere. Outdated practices …even the background music in dining room is cringeworthy. No atmosphere. Bar was very small and very limited options to choose from.

Looking on to bennachie
Cleanlieness of the room as we asked for our room to be cleaned due to coming back later in the afternoon and hadn’t been done and only the bins were emptied, the towels we used were never changed 1st day and glasses used were never cleaned, the toiletries and the tea and coffee was never refilled, on the second day bed was pulled up and not straightened out or changed as there was blood on the quilt cover and pillow case and also the service of breakfasts in the mornings were a lot to be desired due to having approx 45 mins with no explanation what the hold up was, cold porridge, no ham in omelette, orange juice instead of apple juice

I think it's a home away from home that everyone dreams of. Unless you own a stately home yourself and if so, you can share your experience with the rest of us! We've been at Pittodrie for about a week in May 2025. It felt like you're on set of a period drama when the props were taken straight out of an antique furniture shop. Maybe they really were? Forgot to ask. I loved the strenuous walks around the neighborhood, climbing Bennachie mountain to see the old Pictish fort and stopping right before reaching the top. The hotel had nothing to do with it, it was my fear of heights. But the staff definitely patched my underachievement wound with late-night drinks at the lounge. Seriously, plan for that, even if you're there just for day. Let yourself soak in the cozy atmosphere. Or stay in your room, have the ice bucket filled, nurse a drink of your choice in hand and read a book. No one will disturb you.
Around Pittodrie: go to Castle Fraser to hear the whispers of the history again; take a look at 'them and us' French and Scottish impressionist exhibition at Aberdeen Art Gallery; feel the wind blowing in your face when you're up the hill at Dunnottar Castle ruins in Stonehaven. That's what we did, (Take a deep breath if you have fear of heights, too, hold the rail firmly, it's doable) The staff can book you a taxi to Inverurie, about 20 minutes' ride, and you go on from there by train.
In at home: try every item on the menu (especially dill salmon and cajun fries with garlic butter); take a picture of the dish if you feel like it, it's an art form, compositionally on the plate as well as taste-wise; take a sneak peek at a Scottish wedding if you're lucky. Stay away if you've seen too many in your life.
Have fun!

Many thanks to the staff. You made our stay unforgettable and we're coming back for more exploration.
Nothing at all. No one was there to ruin the experience. Happens to the best of us, right?

Nice area, old worldly
Fabric of the building a bit run down and needing maintenance

The grounds are very impressive. These and the provenance of the property deliver a sense of history.
Most of the internal materials and fittings are of good quality and work well with the older structural parts of the building.
The food was very good and of value. The choice at breakfast was limited. For example a three star property in Cullen offered kippers for breakfast.
The choice at breakfast was limited for those on a gluten free diet. Maybe traditional kippers as offered elsewhere….
Our room was poorly presented.
The duvet cover had a red mark on the outside. On turning down to go to bed, many hairs were revealed and even a toe nail or dry skin.
A bulb in the standard lamp was blown.
The shower head dropped and had to be hand held.
The service was variable. Some staff members showed genuine care and kindness. Most seemed to be acting and insincere.
