Cost and location
Found a dead spider in my sheets on my last night and what .looked like bed bugs ...I had to sleep on top of the bed on a towel. I wish I had checked more thoroughly on the first night. I couldn't have a shower either as the switch from bath to shower was broken.

Great stay, was able to walk to the project from the hotel than drive. Perfect for what we wanted.

City centre location easy to find
The night staff/security were really friendly and upbeat and welcoming on my return to the hotel.
Front desk staff were rude; they didn't even welcome me or say hello, just said handed over my ID then ignored me.
Leaving in the morning, I had to go back into the hotel lobby because I didn't feel safe waiting at the door with bags on my own.

The staff were excellent, when i arrived at the hotel the room allocated to me was horrible and dirty and i asked to be moved to a different room and they did this straight away. The location was great
the hotel it self could do with an upgrade and the first room i went into was horrible and very dirty. The room i was reallocated to was clean but again it could do with an upgrade.

Location, clean good value. Convenient
Staff attitude. Although I didn’t experience nothing too bad personally, though I did witness a staff member deal very unprofessionally with guests, claiming they threw documents at her first so she did the same back ha. Then proceeded to give them back chat.
When I first arrived staff disapeared out back after serving the guest before and didn’t return for another 10 mins, so was kept waiting to check in, very professional! All in all this was the only bad thing knocking the scores and beans down a few points. The reviews were true haha!

Beds were comfy and clean.
All rooms should have double glazing as standard, especially for guests during the winter months.

The sraff

Thge bed was comfortable and I slept well, after putting both the spare blankets on the bed as the quilt was a bit thin for winter. The city centre location beside the Bus Sta. and cathedral was what I wanted.
The room was cooler than I would have liked. There was a cool breeze on all the time from the vent above the entrance. This could be neither switched off nor have the temperature altered. It was also audible, but fortunately did not disturb my sleep. `informing reception I was told it was an "air purifier".which I have not met elsewhere. I could not make the shower work, there appeared to be no lever to direct the flow upwards,so I had a shallow bath, but it did use more hot water. Before I booked, I had an email from Booking.com offering a 10% discount up to an expiry date. Before this date, I booked for the 2 night stay at Coventry, but could find no place on the form to use the discount. Phoning the hotel they had no knowledge of it, so I lost it despite trying. At £128 for room only I have had better.

The location is great, and the bed comfortable and clean.
There’s tired and rundown, and then there’s the Britannia, Coventry. The hotel and rooms are truly decrepit. There was no hot water on one morning during my stay, the Wi-Fi is awful - when it works - and the guests in the room next to me smoked weed non-stop all weekend. Staff weren’t interested when I informed them.

I like the location, since it's in the city centre.
The bathroom needs to be renovated as the sinks were broken and the lights were flicking, I spotted several silverfish in the bathroom, too.

It was at a convenient location and the room was a good size. It was cheap and you get what you pay for, the staff were polite.
It was grubby, there was a stain or something on the pillow, the hairdryer didn’t work, around the sink was mucky.

Helpful staff, comfortable (and low-priced) room with 2 (!) armchairs, and within a few minutes walk of Lower Ford St car park and the cathedral. Also very handily placed for the coach station.
As a UK citizen, and a historical re-enactor, I use a lot of hotels and b&bs in the UK, but have NEVER come across one which demands photographic proof of my identity. Having been able to satisfy this requirement. I was then astonished that my wife was also expected to produce photographic proof of her identity, which as she has no passport, is too young to qualify for a bus card, and still has a paper driving licence, she was unable to do. Eventually, the receptionists were able to resolve the situation, but it left me with a very bad feeling, and I doubt very much whether I would consider staying again at a Britannia Hotel.

I would not stay there again in a million years even if it was free
My wife is registered blind but could still tell how filthy it all was.
TThe food was not good enough to be pig swill most of it was either definitely off and dangerous to eat or on the turn or fermenting so we had to eat out or go without.
everything.
The hotel looked as if it had not been cleaned inside or out since it was built .It was so bad my wife who is registered blind could tell how filthy it was
The staff were surly, disinterested and could not be bothered to either do their job or interact with customers
The food was rancid
The wifi was so poor it was unusable

i shouldn't give five star reviews, especially to Coventry. but Coventry is a placw that tries to be grand but is just not.
this hotel is from a time when hotel's tired to be grand. large sofas, big oak railings, huge rooms.
compared to hotels now where there the size of cupboard, this hotel was a welcome break from medernity and a step back to what hotel's used to be like

Good location for a city visit, although a bit further from the venue of the event we were attending than was ideal. That couldn't be helped. The breakfast was good!
The hotel is a bit shabby and run-down. It could do with a refurbishment!
The windows were so dirty you could hardly see out of them!
The rooms were comfortable though. One of our rooms was on a different floor to the others, and we ended up not using it as that whole corridor stank of marijuana and there was very loud music playing in the room next to the one we had booked! The person due to be in that room ended up using one of the beds in the family room we had booked. That was not good. The other rooms on the lower floor were fine.
