Drinking water comes in non recyclable plastic bottles. Lots of small plastic bags ( in every little bin, changed every day). Towel exchange is do frequent that it is difficult to be an environmentally conscious guest.

Very nice resort with great food, great beach and pool area—but they need to provide the correct rooms to their patrons.

Very clean and pretty looking resort. Nice pool, great breakfast buffet, plenty of seating at the beach and pool areas. Staff were helpful whenever we requested anything.

I booked a Bungalow Garden View because the listing says it is a larger room and it’s separate from the main building (I wanted a more peaceful experience), but we were placed in a Double Room Sea View on the first floor of the main building with a tiny balcony. I asked the front desk if I was in the right room and they said I was in a garden bungalow, just a different floor plan—which was not true because they were able to find a Bungalow Garden View room on the last day we were there, but at that point, it was not worth moving ourselves to the new room. To help make us feel better, they provided us a complimentary dinner at one of their restaurants which was nice, but the experience of not getting the room I paid for left an everlasting sour taste in my mouth. So we were placed in a room in the main building where we constantly heard slamming doors in the hallway, people in the hallway, and the loudness of the room above us, which is exactly what we didn’t want.

Wonderful

My daughter and I had the most amazing stay at this hotel. Staff brilliant, facilities exactly what we were looking for - fantastic for running which we both enjoy - only about 1km through town then on to the promenade. Pool area great for relaxing and swimming, as well as the beach club. Food was incredible. All in all a great stay. Thank you

Expensive, huge resort, not a good value for money.

This is an expensive resort for what it offers, it is very big, has over priced food of mediocre quality, the beach is rough and with rocks, not a beautiful standard you can find almost anywhere in Greece. It is also very busy.

This is a beautiful resort - highly recommended.

This is a beautiful beachfront resort - amazing pool (large/expansive) and a complete beach bar/sunbed offering. The breakfast is amazing. Service is of the highest level - a member of the staff meets you at the entrance and provides a check-in experience on the terrace with a drink. The rooms are spotless with amazing beds. A highlight of my trip was working with Katerina at the front desk/concierge service. She helped me with a rental car and guided me toward some unique beaches on the south side of Crete. Her kindness will always be especially appreciated.

I liked everything about this resort. It would be important to note that it is a 10-15 minute taxi or drive into old town. I would highly recommend a car rental (the service is on site) to fully explore the island. Parking in the old town of Rethymno is a bit tricky.

A relaxing moment

À nice breakfast buffet and the garden is lovely. I enjoyed the silk painting activity at the Atelier lead by Mr Paris. The conciergerie was really efficient. The night events at the palace were really good.

We expected to have wind surfing as a possible water sport. Too many stone at the beach and it's hard to get into the sea. It's was sometimes dangerous as we can fall. The lifeguard should be more focused.

Brilliant hotel!

This was definitely one of the best hotels we've ever stayed at. From the first to the last moment everything was perfect - every single staff member (reception, restaurants, cleaning personnel and any other service) was extremely lovely and helpful, the rooms were wonderful and spotlessly clean, pool area great and sunbeds very comfortable. The entire complex including the beach was so tidy and clean, I've hardly ever seen such attention to detail. The food was excellent - both breakfast and dinner (we had half board) with plenty of choice, everything freshly prepared and refilled, and amazing personnel both in service and behind the scenes. The evening entertainment was great too! I cannot compliment the hotel management enough for the premises as well as the staff. We will definitely come back.

Nice hotel, but with few weaknesses to be considered

Very clean hotel with great facilities, especially the pools. Access to the beach. The breakfast was also delicious. Highly recommend

The housekeeper opened the door without knocking before checkout time, which was uncomfortable. The reception hasn’t compensate us fairly as we expected . Hotel sunbeds are not free and need reservation!

This is not a 5 star hotel.

The beach was great and generally the food was nice. The staff were friendly but there was no consistency of service. Different housekeeping standards by day. Sometimes no water was given and they also left a massive ant nest unaddressed for us to find in our bedroom.

The standard of the rooms are not as advertised. The main hotel rooms (basic rate) cleanliness and the interiors are fine but it does not justify a 5 star. Our "sea view" was actually an extractor fan and the balcony smelt of food. You could not sit on it. The shower had a major leak and the shower head was broken. We were also given a twin room despite booking a double 6 months in advance. It's also very loud by the pool area and generally way too busy that you have to go to the beach. We also had to wait 10min to be seated for breakfast on multiple occasions. I'm sure the expensive rooms with extra amenities are nice but the rate is extortionate to still deal with everything outside of the rooms. Wedding party noise, beach club music, busy gym, breakfast queues.

When booking paid extra for sea view room however was brought to a room that you would have to scale the side of the building to see a hint of the sea and main building rooms very run down, rooms not attached to the main building roomy & updated unfortunately our room (907) had an ant infestation. House keeping very attentive and came in twice but still covered in ants.

the setting of the hotel is awesome, its a family resort ideal for a week of relaxation! with great hotel anenities.m from bfast, lido, gym, rooms are super, its beach bar and beautiful sand beach deck too.

We didnt appreciate the late night party, complete witha mega house club stle music, laser lighting shining up to the sky, a base which shook the hotel and music till 11pm to celebrate some august moon. Few to none ppl where dancing, many complaining for nothing..., it was completely out of style from the peaceful property we experienced earlier. Had we known the hotel had this event planned, we would have opted for an alternative hotel. or had we known at checkin we would have planned leaving the resort for the evening.

Relaxing and great for family time.

The staff are happy to please guests and are very friendly. The resort is large and plenty of space to relax inside and outside. The beach was clean and beautiful and very well looked after. Plenty of guest walked the beach in the evening and watched the sunset which was a serene experience

We were initially given family style rooms suitable for families with small children. I requested a move of the room which they were able to give us for the last few nights.

Rooms definitely 5 star everything else felt more like 4 star

Beach was great and rooms sizes excellent -we stayed in the two bedroom bungalow. Kids club staff all lovely and very welcoming. We didn’t leave kids just used the facilities. Waterslides kept our 5 year old happy for hours. Sunbeds were comfortable and in good condition

A la carte menus and food were average Beach bar was nice for a drink but be careful about them asking you to sign for drinks that don’t match what you ordered. Kids pool was not great for small ones-big drop to get in and one set of steps. Both pools needed re-grouting as look tired. Hard to get sun lounger round the big pool.

Beautiful hotel, excellent staff, close to the beach

Really pleased with the staff - everyone was helpful, friendly, courteous, and responded quickly to requests. Location was fine - easy access to the beach, Beach bar was very good Good facilities, great little shops on site including a mini market Wonderful breakfasts, although the queue for the fresh egg station took 15-20 mins twice Very clean everywhere, very well looked after, good maintenance and condition.

The pool and poolside are a bit undersized for the number of guests. We were there 5 days in May and every sunbed was taken by 10am every day, so we went to the beach instead and didn't use that pool at all. The car park was too small - one evening we had to park outside the hotel grounds. Not a big deal, but disappointing The sea view - we paid 30 euro per night for a sea view which was barely a glimpse. see photo. Disappointing that I did not get anything worth having for my money. We really didn't to move rooms so didn't ask.

A perfect getaway for families looking to experience the Mediterranean life

We stayed at the hotel over the Easter week, the very beginning of the summer season, and couldn’t be more impressed with how smoothly the hotel was running! The hotel is well-designed and spacious, there are plenty of social areas for family chit chat and cute alleys for taking a walk. We loved seeing all the palm trees and hearing birds chirping throughout the day. The staff at the hotel were super friendly, without an exception, and genuinely interested in helping guests have a great time. There are two swimming pools to choose from: one for kids with slides, another one for adults, and a carefully maintained beach with lazy chairs and a beach bar. The restaurant is great and operates very efficiently, we never had to wait for more than 5 minutes to get seated, even during the peak time. And I don’t need to tell you all how amazing the Cretan cuisine is. In short, this is an absolute gem of a place to stay in!

I would recommend improving the gym since it has only a very basic equipment right now and could benefit from sprucing up. Other than that, all was great.

Teenage paradise in Rethimno

First I have to say I am not a resort type of person. I came for the end of school of my 15 year old son and becouse of him. He said 5/5 specially becouse of outdoor training with a fitness master and table tennis lessons and other amneties and food and room and pool and beach and hotel :) I can personally add in short.. everything here is very nice... but staff.... staff is really exceptional. On all levels. Very very kind. One of a kind experience. Uff yes, and food as well. For sure I will come back and I will reccomend Grecotel to my friend as well.

you shuld add some vegan options to menus in your restaurants. Maybe you could organise different system with towels, it is not good for the planet that so many towels go to washing everyday. Maybe you can provide beach and room towels in every room and possibility to change easily for those who want to do it. Now you are forced to take a new towel every day on the beach...

It was reinvigorating, with everything one would need to recharge the batteries.

The central pool was really beautifully situated, as was the beach adjoining the hotel. It made waking up and unwinding by water really easy. The main lobby of the hotel was beautiful also. The style felt open and spacious, and designed to allow the maximum off light to filter through. In a location like this, it worked brilliantly.

No complaints, really. I am a vegan and there weren't many vegan options available at breakfast, but the hotel never claimed to cater for vegans, so one can hardly complain about that.
