The hotel is a bit expensive for the size of the rooms, which are quite small. The property itself feels old and in need of renovation. The restaurant is small, and the bar seating area is limited, with only a few couches available.

Good hotel in an awesome location and great service

The hotel is very well placed, close to City Hall (Rathaus), and it is a part of the Marriott Bonvoy chain. The rooms are big, have a nice design, they're modern, clean and well equipped, The personnel is polite and ready to help. As it was the second time there, after a year, I had the pleasant surprise to be recognized by the receptionist. The breakfast is rich in tasty and good quality products. The beds are comfy and large. For mornings, you have the coffee machine for enjoying it within the room.

Friendly staff - Good location - It was ok

Ref room quietness first night room was located at the extreme side of the hotel. There was was going on for a new Zara shop. After 9 am it was a disaster - drilling machines working all over - bad ! But I talked to the hotel people and they moved us to another room which was ok

Weekend stay

The location is excellent, close to everything and set in nice surroundings. Our room faced the inner courtyard, so it was very quiet. The room was spacious, had coffee facilities, and felt quite large.

Although the bathroom was nice, the showerhead didn’t work as well as it should. The ladies at reception could have been a bit more friendly.

Very posh and elegant hotel, a wonderful stay

Wonderful hotel, the room was super spacious, very tastefully decorated and had everything we needed: a big and very comfortable bed with many fluffy pillows, a fridge and a nespresso machine, a complementary bottle of water and complimentary nespresso capsules for the first morning, beautiful bathroom with spacious shower, great amenities (good quality shampoo, conditioner, bath soap, body lotion, toiletries and even mouthwash), very powerful water pressure, bathrobes and plenty of fluffy towels. Everything was super clean. We had a wonderful stay for a quite reasonable price and would favour this hotel next time we're in Hamburg.

The breakfast was not included in the reservation price and it was quite costly (way more than an average breakfast price). This being said, the breakfast was amazing, great variety of delicious food and plenty of everything.

Bad experience, the quality of service was not appropriate for business travel.

Good location. Good varied breakfast buffet.

Several things to note: - I got room 137 which turned out to be a room communicating with the next one. The in-between door was locked, which was good, but the sound isolation was very bad between the rooms. I could hear their tv, and conversations. I called the reception to ask if they can request the other guests to be quieter. No action was taken. - the parking could only be accessed by the hotel valet. This meant that every time i needed the car, I had to wait for the valet to be available to fetch it for me. This always took 15-20min. Once I even waited 35min and missed a meeting because of it. - the valet service + parking costs 35€ each time. This was nowhere indicated and I got the surprise on the bill at the end - one morning I got temporarily denied access to my room because the cleaner started to clean while I was at breakfast. I was told it will take 2min. After I waited 10min in the hallway I got impatient and asked that they leave the room. They refused because they would be done in 1min. I waited another 5min and had to insist that they leave the room so that I could get ready for my appointments. - on 2 occasions the staff on my floor didn’t seem to trust I was a guest at the hotel (because I dress casual?) and they insisted they see me open my room with my key card to make sure I am a hotel guest. This felt very discriminating, disrespectful and unnecessary. - on my last morning, what sounded like construction on the floor above my room started at 7:35am until 8:30am. I had planned to sleep until 8:45 to ensure I was fit for the long drive I had to do that day. Due to lack of sleep, I had to take more breaks while driving and caused yet more agenda issues.

The overall impression is that Renaissance is a very good hotel

Renaissance Hotel is located in the most central location in Hamburg, 5 minutes walk to the Rathaus and the lake, 20 minutes walk to the port, and around many shops. However, there is some noise, especially early in the morning, requiring sleeping with a closed window. The staff are very friendly and helpful in everything needed. The cleaning staff arranges and cleans the rooms daily, puts away the hygiene products, and does an excellent job. You get a bottle of water every day. The breakfast is very good, rich, and varied, but repeats itself precisely every morning. The room is large and spacious. However, in my opinion, the coffee point should be removed from the closet and thus free up more space in the closet and make the coffee point more accessible. Additionally, the hotel should set a higher water pressure in the bath. After 6 nights stay, the overall impression is that Renaissance is a very good hotel. It is better to define it as a 4-star hotel and not a 5-star one because it does not have the luxury of a 5-star hotel.

Room was too hot with aircon that appeared not to be working. Window opened fine but a little noisy. Breakfast buffet at 32euros far too expensive for a small requirement with very limited alternative a la carte options
