Novotel Bordeaux Mérignac

Well located close to the airport and has 24h reception desk, free parking on site.

There was no fridge in our room, which was okay for one night, but might be more inconvenient for longer stays. Other than that, the room had everything needed.

Great breakfast. Great staff and service.

Carpets in the corridor were dirty/stained, but not a big issue.

Hotel has a lovely restaurant, bar, great outdoor relaxing space and a nice pool It’s a great set up and yes I would recommend, however this hotel could be so much better with a few small improvements / tweaks mainly around customer care and experience which is vital when in the hospitality industry Restaurant and bar staff were lovely, helpful and attentive, however front of house reception staff need management improvement. Their general demeanour and friendliness needs improvement. We had 2 x rooms which were quite warm as aircon was not great, and after asking for a fan we only received 1 and heard nothing more about the second one despite chasing). I asked for the sofa bed to be made up twice, yet upon our return from being out all day, it was still not made up, so I gained a sheet and duvet from reception and did it myself. Little things like tea, coffee, milk and toilet roll not being replenished, so having to go and get it myself (silly basics that should be done without guests having to ask) The last little thing was on the morning of evacuation at 2.30am on the Saturday morning due to growing fires approaching our hotel location. The single staff member in an emergency was seemingly more concerned about if residents had paid their bills / money on their room tab, than capturing clarity of resident name and room number to ensure clarity of who had left / evacuated

I feel that the front of house management which controls management of house keeping need improvement. Great hospitality and customer experience is all about attention to detail, that initial contact and engagement, making sure the basics and little things are done without fail and without guests having to ask. This hotel is very affordable and good value, however that does not mean the basics of great customer service and hospitality should be ignored
