Pestana Grand Ocean Resort Hotel

The hotel is located in a fantastic location, right on the ocean shore and very close to Cabo Girao. The facilities are great (several pools, gym, billiards, even a library!). The food is great, sufficient and in a significant variety. There are also several restaurants on site. But what makes the difference is not all the facilities i’ve mentioned, but the personnel which is amazing! Super friendly, helpful and ready to help at all times. Special thanks to Laura who is a truely dedicated person that makes you feel welcome! Thank you very much, it was an incredible stay and we would definitely come again!

The only little thing i would improve is to be a bit more careful when placing a family with a 10 months old baby right over the music scene.

Good location

Food is exactly the same every day in the morning. Hotel requires a bit or renovation in general. I wish at least one pool could be heated (at least for kids)

Only one type of wine by the glass - not a big drinker so didn’t want a bottle which was the only way you could choose something different to the house wine. Service at front desk by male staff member was average, drink service was very slow, system for paying for drinks was confusing and not explained, how food worked was not explained - what was/wasn’t included, when booking an excursion we got sucked into a ‘sales pitch’ and taken to another hotel where the sales member realised that coming from Australia wasn’t going to work and no return taxi was offered so we were out of pocket getting back to our hotel when we should have saved significant money on the excursion.
