The View

Location

Access to the rooms is up about 13 steep concrete steps outside, through the bar area then down internal stairs and outside again to the ground floor rooms overlooking the golf course. Difficult with heavy suitcases. I noticed there is a path round the building at ground level but this was closed off as private and I believe is part of the function venue. It would be much better if hotel residents could use this path to access rooms. Our room was basic and clean (room 7) which is fine for the cost of the stay. Our bathroom was a wet room, adapted for disabled guests (we did not request this but wasn’t a problem) When we used the shower it soaked the entire floor and toilet area and the water did not drain effectively and we had to dry the floor with a towel in order to continue to use the bathroom without walking through water. We also found there was a slight “drain” smell from the bathroom. Carpet needs replacing.

Staff were very professional and friendly. It was clean and had a good vibe.

There didn’t seem to be an access without using steps. I feel there should have been a more private access to the rooms without using the stairs and going through the main restaurant. Price a bit excessive but if breakfast was ill used it would be value for money.

Had a lovely stay at The View as attending a wedding at a sister venue. Extremely friendly and helpful staff, the manager even gave us a lift to the wedding rather than getting a taxi, really generous! There was also water in the rooms which was appreciated. The only thing that would be a negative was that the rooms are beneath the bar/kitchen area and I think it needs some sort of soundproofing, as the sound of chairs being dragged around upstairs is really very loud. Particularly if you want a bit of a lie in.

Lock on room 7 faulty, room not clean and found a cockroach on its back by bin when we arrived and one ran across me at 1am. Staff failed to provide cockroache baits when asked to do so. Staff fixed the door and cleaned the room when asked.
