Our room was large and well appointed. It was however cold. A small heating unit was positioned under the thermostat causing it to go off before the room could be warmed. The breakfast was varied and well presented in an airy room with good views of the garden. The restaurant on our first night was very atmospheric, calm and quiet. The menu was a take it or leave it, vegetarian or meat menu. The lack of choice was poor. The food presentation was good as was the quality of the small portions. 195 Euros for two meals was not good value for money. We paid for presentation not food. The second night we were presented with exactly the same menu. A large group of locals were also present and they continually shouted at each other. The staff made no effort to calm or remove them. That experience spoiled the meal but not the visit.
the location and buildings are superb but anyone looking for a budget holiday should avoid this location.

Restaurant was very good aswell but somewhat "stuffy".
I remember having had a bigger suite in the same (Ingerdael) class, on a previous visit

Beautiful castle and very well renovated and maintained. Beautiful garden also! Lots of art.
The apartments we were in could use a small upgrade. But still very much in style of a castle.

Stunning historical and artistic setting. Very convenient for Maastricht while also feeling like it was in the countryside, lovely routines for walks/runs. Good food for breakfast and lunch (did not try the restaurant). Thoughtful extra touches like bag to bring towels to sauna, welcome chocolates, welcome drink & fresh fruit. Bar staff were amazing, charming and helpful
Service at breakfast and cafes was not the standard one would expect in such a hotel. Lots of nice, well meaning students who had not been trained/managed to a high standard. Eg used plates left on tables; food arriving before cutlery; asked about what teas were available and made no offer to show selection. No sense of ownership of which staff owned which section. Not the young staff’s fault, they were trying but were not well trained/managed.

We stayed for two nights at Château St. Gerlach and had a wonderful experience. The château itself is absolutely beautiful, and the location is fantastic with so much nature around. It is perfect for a relaxing getaway.
We stayed in a Deluxe Terrace room, which we absolutely loved. It was spotless, beautifully decorated, and very comfortable. Having our own little terrace was great, and the bathroom with its large shower was fantastic. We slept very well and really enjoyed the room.
The peaceful surroundings, and the nature all added to our stay and made it even more special.
If you’re in the area, we also highly recommend the restaurant Zest in Valkenburg - a hidden gem worth visiting!
On the less positive side, the breakfast was disappointing. At €39 per person, we expected something special, but it is unfortunately very average. We ended up cancelling it for our second morning. The eggs florentine were a particular letdown: the bread was not great, the spinach soggy and tasteless, and the egg cold. The cappuccino with oat milk was also not good. Overall, the quality didn’t justify the price. Another downside is that the only alternative café on the estate doesn’t open until 11:00, which is late if you don’t take the hotel breakfast.
The spa was another small disappointment. While the staff there were truly lovely and helpful, the facilities felt more like a pool than a spa. When we visited, there were a lot of children playing and screaming, which made it less relaxing than we had hoped.

the location and the gardens , the buildings and the hugeness of the place gives a luxurious feel, they took us to our room with a golf cart and the staff were amazing and friendly !
for the price we paid the room was not very impressive although we loved it it was very big and i was satisfied

It was a real treat. A very warm welcome by the staff, a beautiful decorated room with a little terras taking into consideration our preferences. A little minibar and coffee/tea machine. Extra coffee pads were supplied at no cost. Daily cleaning and a turn down service in the evening. It is all the little touches that make it special. The location is fabulous, adjacent to the Ingendael nature reserve, I made wonderful walks every day, and our room looked out over the beautiful garden and reserve. The restaurant is very good as well with excellent dishes and very friendly staff. The dishes slightly on the small side, potions don't seem to be adjusted, taking into consideration the number of courses. The grounds, the art, and the buildings all very beautiful. A real treat.
I hesitate to mention minor points because it was so wonderful but encourage that a better deal is found for the bike rentals. Those are very expensive. I also found that no outside breakfast, diner and bar drinks are offered whilst it was beautiful weather.

This was my favorite hotel of our trip. The hotel grounds are beautiful and full of sculptures. The room was amazing and the view incredible. The staff were very friendly and the bed was comfortable. We ate at the restaurant, which was excellent. Also, if you're going for the SPA F1 race, it is within a reasonable distance.

The grounds were lovely and room was big and comfortable
It was not possible to have dinner on site as they were booked out . Most good hotels will accommodate residents but not this one .

The Spa Area & Grounds were nice
The Room wasn´t great and stairs to upper level very steep, further the hotel only had one restaurant which was fully booked for duration of stay with no attempt to establish if staying guests would like to book in advance.

The property is gorgeous, with every nook and cranny oozing with history and character. Driving in was easy, check-in was helpful, showed us all interesting spots to visit on a map and asked to help with our luggage.
We took a late lunch at the bistro close to the grounds entry, which was delicious. This is where we tried the house wine for the first time and were pleasantly surprised.
We chose the rose garden and the orchard as a place to unwind before dinner.
Dinner was sublime and the staff really took the dietary needs of my pregnant wife seriously. Almost every dish was extra tailored specifically for her.
Room was lovely and had a very nice welcome gift for my wife’s birthday.
Breakfast was one of the best I’ve had with very nice choices a la carte and buffet.
After checkout we borrowed an umbrella for the sun and went around on a hike that was guided via an app, all was very easy to install and follow.
Coming back we also went into the church and learned about the life of St. Gerlac and his journey from a bandit to a saint, not often you hear about such redemption arcs.
Back at the hotel the staff went the extra mile to open the bar ahead of schedule to serve us drinks before we set off home.

We absolutely loved our stay. Such a beautiful location and being able to hire electric bikes was fabulous. Also having 2 restaurants is great as one is $ and the other is cafe style.
There are steep stairs to bedroom and aircon was very loud in room cutting in and out.

The hotel itself and the property are extremely beautiful. It is surrounded by nature which is great especially if you’re looking to hike a bit in the surrounding area. The hotel was very relaxing and quiet. We travelled with our dog and there are many places on the hotel property and around it to walk your dog. The staff was very kind and welcoming, including to our dog. He received a lovely note, snacks and a bed when we arrived. My favorite part was the rose garden in which you can relax and watch the horses walk by in the evening. The breakfast was very delicious and had lots of options.
All together it was a wonderful stay and the hotel exceeded my expectations.

Having stayed a number of times before I was disappointed and surprised that the grounds were lacking in care. They were always well maintained but not this time.
Read the above I entered my comments in the wrong box.

Beautiful property and grounds. The apartment was a bit dated but it is due to be updated in the autumn. The sculptures around the property add to the atmosphere as does the museum.
Very surprised they charge for parking—seems a bit mean given the cost of the rooms.

We stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment with 5 adults. One slept on a sofa bed in the lounge, which was very comfortable. The staff came and made up the sofa bed each night which was nice. We also took our dog and the property provided a food bowl, matress and even snacks which was lovely! Breakfast is exceptionally good with a good menu of extra cooked items that can be ordered. It's a very quiet and peaceful location.

Breakfast was decent with an option to order hot meals. Surroundings, parks etc were great for walks. We enjoyed pool and spa area.
We travelled with a baby of 22 months. This facility is not really baby friendly (no option for a small pool, no playground, restaurant in the facility was way too baby unfriendly etc.). The targetted guests are probably adults only and that is ok. If you travel with a baby or small kids I would probably not recommend this destination.

It’s a wonderful place surrounded by beautiful grounds, including a rose garden, a vineyard and plenty of modern art sculptures on display. The 2-bedroom apartment with a small garden terrace isn’t super modern but very clean and comfortable and even offers a small
kitchenette. We love the fact that pets are welcome, our dog was very happily exploring the orchard behind the building where our apartment was located. The hotel staff are brilliant and breakfast on the lawn with the view of the garden very much appreciated. The swimming pool in the spa is a quite impressive size for a hotel and the ambiance very calm. The dinner in the main restaurant was an amazing experience, the chef - who personally brought one of the dishes from the tasting menu we ordered - definitely knows what he’s doing. This was our second stay at this hotel and we will be back.
Once it gets hot, the apartment might benefit from air-conditioning, though this wasn’t an issue this time on account of moderate temperatures, plus fans are provided. The breakfast is a bit pricy, though yummy with plenty of choice.

The hotel property was exceptional, the grounds were all manicured and well -appointed; the beautiful art pieces scattered on the grounds gave a museum-like quality; the beautiful old buildings took us back in time; loved exploring the grounds - St. Gerlach church, the vineyards, rose garden, vegetable garden...the room was so luxurious I would give it a 12! Most comfortable night's sleep since we started travelling two weeks before. The buffet brekfast had a good array of meats, cheeses, breads, eggs, etc. It was the perfect stay to treat my 84-year old mother to watch the Andre Rieu concert - she was just thrilled!
Nothing at all!

The locaties is simply superb, and so is the friendly and professional staff (everywhere: reception, restaurant, Burgemeester Quicx, housekeeping). The outside areas and the outside of the buildings are in excellent condition. Our room (appartement suite) was huge, quiet and comfortable. Staying at this hotel means preserving cultural heritage.
The rooms’ bathrooms are becoming outdated (they are functioning well and are clean, but deserve an update). The restaurant is decent, but one would expect an even higher level of cuisine here at this location. Finally: breakfast is overpriced. These minor comments are merely a footnote to a wonderful stay.

The grounds were beautiful. Trails connect to the property and made for an easy walk/hike into Valkenburg for dinner. We lucked out with a weekend of beautiful weather, and even saw the Konik horses while there.
