The staff were very attentive. They met all our needs wonderfully. A huge thank you to all of them. The location was excellent. Easy access to everywhere. I loved the room; it was stylish and very clean.

Beautifully-designed hotel with generous staff, amenities, and extras

This hotel is very conveniently and centrally located in a bustling part of the city where hidden indie art deco cafés await you alongside historical bakeries and eclectic marketplaces. Wherever you want to go is likely within a 15 minute walking radius, including the iconic Rhine. The hotel is modern, and has all the facilities you could possibly need, and is beautifully decorated inside. There is a restaurant and a rooftop bar, a bonus communal lounge where you can fill up on coffee and a wonderful selection of herbal teas, read culture magazines, and play any of the provided board games. Check-in was a smooth experience, and unexpectedly we also received a Basel Card as part of our booking, which meant transport was free in the city throughout our stay + we were eligible for 50% off museums, galleries, and other local attractions. Staff went above and beyond for us, suggesting places to see and try, ensuing that our stay was as comfortable and memorable as possible. They were available 24/7 and helped us at several critical points in our holiday. We ended up extending our stay by an additional 3 days, and felt right at home. The rooms are all very spacious, tastefully designed, with comfy beds, and have some amazing extra touches: a high quality soundsystem, Netflix on the TV, automatic black-out window blinds, ambient dimmable lighting, a FREE mini bar fridge where you can sample local drinks at no extra charge, a rainfall shower, a high-tech toilet with bidet functions, and a fancy coffee machine. Every day, our tea/coffee was refilled, the room was cleaned spotless, and we felt we had plenty of privacy. The hotel was quiet and we didn't hear any outside noise despite there being quite a lot of night life below. Wifi was super speedy and easy to connect to. We were able to leave our bags at reception before checking in and after checking out to allow us bag-free exploration time before heading to the airport. Basel, we'll be back!

There is nothing to improve. When visiting Switzerland, you have to accept that it will be expensive. Luckily, you get what you pay for!

The girls at the reception are wonderful. They are very helpful. The room is modern, beyond my expectations. The hotel is generally very decent and clean.

Had a fabulous 10 day stay. The hotel was a great base for exploring the city and further afield.

Not the hotel’s fault, but renovation work in opposite building began at 7.30am 6 days a week. Local night club played loud music until 4am Friday and Saturday evening. Hotel provided earplugs

Great but disrupted by construction work.

I checked in late and the reception was still open and they were very helpful. The room is quite big, and I loved the attention to details. The breakfast is a buffet and there’s everything needed. The products are local and of good quality. Coffee is not barista level coffee for those who prefer that type of coffee. There are a few cafes in town for that though.

Honestly, the hotel is great. The only downside is that there is long term construction work going on. So if you’re unlucky like me and get one of the rooms on that side of the building, you can kiss sleeping in goodbye. Especially if you’re a light sleeper. It is loud. If you’re an early riser though, no issue at all. I don’t want to skew the ratings too much so I still gave it a high score.

Simple, tasteful design with a Japanese influence. Location excellent for walking throughout old part of town and easy access to trams and buses. Loved the transport pass, which also gave a 50% discount to several museums I visited.

Enjoyable short stay in the centre of Basel with easy access to all the attractions of the city.

The layout of the room and bathroom and the overall cleanliness of the hotel. Breakfast on the 6th floor restaurant balcony and the quality and selection of food available.

Unfortunately there was construction noise from an adjacent building that meant we were not able to use our room balcony during the day. However hopefully this was a temporary situation and did not deter our enjoyment of staying at the Art House too much.

The property is in a fantastic location. Easy walking distance to the river and main train station. Trams are also just a short walk. The location is central with lots of options for food and cafes etc The staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful. We wanted to take our children to France and Germany in the same day and one of the female members of staff suggested we visit Colmar - about an hour on the train, it was such a fantastic day trip. The breakfast is also very good

It can get very loud - we had two rooms on level 2, rooms 23 and 24. Room 24 is on the street side and at night it is extremely loud due to all the bars and restaurants downstairs. Unfortunately on the other side, we had construction starting very early and no view. Looks like this will be ongoing for a while. Not a big deal as we didn’t spend much time in the rooms, however as it’s summer we wanted fresh air (no air con in new buildings in Basel) so wanted the windows open.. Also the cleaner left quite a few things uncleaned. Dirty cutlery and cups were put back In the cupboard rather than taken for washing

High quality of all the finishes, very new, every little detail was thought of in terms of comfort and functionality. Loved the peaceful Japanese aesthetic throughout. Luxurious bed and pillows. Very pleasant rooftop bar with unique cocktails.

Nice but noisy

Really nice design and a super comfortable stay. Rooftop bar also nice and good service.

It’s on a busy pedestrian street full of bars and restaurants. Did not realize this when booking. They provide earplugs, but that doesn’t do enough to cancel the sound of the street - particularly as I had a street facing room on a lower floor.

Ruined vacation because of not caring stuff

Location is very central and its new building.

Be prepared, there is no AC in the hotel. We came in Eurovision weekend and nobody warned us that all the parties will be under our window. The access to the hotel was unbelievable impossible due to massive crouds . When we booked the hotel, they should have warned us that the street the hotel is situated will be tranformed into Eurovision street. I could not sleep for 2 nights, because of loud music under our windows until 5 o clock ar the morning. At the checkout morning there was no administrator. They do not care about their customers. So if you are ready to pay a lot of money for 20 square meters room with disco downstairs , also I assume there will be really HOt in summer, you are welcome.

The hotel is located in a perfect location in the city - near the central station and the old town. The building is new, the room had a terrace, comfortable and spacious, very comfortable bed. Breakfast is served on the top floor of the building overlooking the city. Very responsive and kind service staff!

Conveniently located on a street closed for transport. Walking distance from old town, fashion avenue and some popular museums. 2 close parking options in a city garage. Great location in the city centre, good connection to tram network. Lots of choice for food and drink around. Spacious room with great facilities. Loved the rooftop breakfast bar and high quality continental breakfast.

The perennial problem of stuffy hotel rooms in summer - building regulations prohibit installation of A/C. Somewhat mitigated by keeping blinds and curtans closed during the day and a decent ventilation system, but can be unpleasant on hot days.
