Phenomenal host and incredible space. Frédéric put his own plans aside to meet us after our train ran late. The home he has crafted is absolutely darling and was so cozy. A much needed respite after long days of exploring Versailles and nearby Paris neighborhood by foot.

First the positives. The owner responds to every email promptly, and is professional. His employees are prompt and on time. The apt is clean and spacious for four. There is an added benefit that the shower and toilet are separate so you don't have to wait if you have to go. There is security 4 locks separate you from the outside. It would be great for bachelors to stay here. The price is right. You can walk anywhere within an hour. Now the downside. The apt is cluttered. If you have small children do not stay here. There are paint buckets and stacks of paintings everywhere. It seems to be an artists studio that is rented. The garden you cannot spend time in because it is cluttered and no where to sit. It is a shame actually because it could be an added benefit to hang out.The trundle bed that is underneath is uncomfortable and it needs to be replaced. My guest got a bad back from it. Even though there is security of four locked doors it is a city and this place is not to stay if you are alone or with only women as I was. Men cat call from outside when you enter late at night. Our Taxis actually waited for us to get in because four men were howling so loud. It was a bit nerve racking and we left early because of it. Unfortunately the owner cannot prevent this. Because the downstairs is in a basement the sheets were constantly damp.

Needs tending.....

The photos are more enticing than the actuality. The apartment is cute....nice 20+ year old renovation that needs some updating & repair. The toilet & bath arrangement is awkward as the toilet is on the ground floor and the bath (sans WC) is in the cellar bedroom area ("mold hole or dungeon"... Disgruntled husband would not sleep in). The vent tunnel / window from the cellar bath was not operational and appeared to have been broken for some time as the tunnel has moisture damaged with peeling paint and mildew. All of the dried up paint containers and paintings added more clutter and obstacle, than charm...irritating that our children could not stop experessing their criticism of the art. The outdoor area needs to be taken care of, it is not usable... There seemed to be a sewer leak in the common courtyard that attracted a lot of flies and smelled bad, so we could not open the windows without letting both in....stuffy & moldy inside. The kitchen is not well equipped for cooking, & the refrigerator had a strong foul smell as if it had been turned off w/ rotting food in it. Wifi password is very difficult unless you cut & paste. Note to owner: "Less is more" - clear the stored items, and do some maintenance and it will be a gem! 2 sets of keys would also be helpful. We liked the location. It is very close to the subway in a decent neighborhood. Those of us who slept in the dungeon found the beds comfortable.

Very nice location in the heart of Paris. The apt is airy and gives a great vibe; it is an atelier with canvases and paint strewed around tastefully giving the place color and energy. There is a parking lot very close by, a boulangery down the street with great baguettes and a supermarket across the street. Frederic, although not present, gave us great assistance in locating anything that we needed, which was very helpful. The apartment is not very big, however the way that it is organized, you have a feeling of space and tranquility. The bed is very comfortable and the place is clean. You should be aware that the apt. is completely an open space, great for a couple, might be problematic for more. Thank you, we had a great time. Ron & Esti

Easy and reasonable place to stay for what we paid
Easy and reasonable place to stay for what we paid
Two of us stayed at this apartment for six days. As others have said, it is close to the metro and very convenient for seeing Paris. The photos provided are honest but show the place a bit nicer than the condition we found it in. The small entry court yard could be delightful, but during our stay it had a ladder and storage bins in it, and the plantings (other than the ivy on the wall) were mostly dead or not tended. We really could not sit out there. A large bin full of used paint cans was in the inside dining area next to the entry door. I am guessing the owner is a painter and may think this bin is a sculptural piece. We considered it as an extension of the clutter that was in the entry court. We never met the owner, Frederic, but he did help me, via several emails, to finally get the WiFi to work properly on my mobile phone. His assistant, Nina, who manages the place, together with her boyfriend, came over and tried for several hours to get the WiFi working but could not. Nina was generally helpful and considerate. I had never used an induction cook top, and had a bit of difficulty learning the ropes of this but after some instructions by Nina, all went well. The kitchen is furnished with only minimal pots and pans, and few pot covers; don't expect to do too much complicated cooking here, it's just not like home. It's ok for making simple breakfasts or lunches. One thing that was a bit awkward for us was having the only toilet on the upper level, and both of us sleeping in the bedroom areas in the lower level. To hit the head in the middle of the night meant maneuvering up the spiral stairs and going through the living room to the toilet room. In summary, I expected more based on the beautiful photos, but I was sufficiently happy with the place to be able to recommend it to others. I think this is priced correctly for what you get.

Formidable!
Formidable!
This is a gorgeous architecturally designed well appointed apartment in the best location in Paris. It is a 15 minute walk from both Montmartre and the Grand Boulevardes. On a beautiful mid April day it was a 45 minute walk to the Latin Quarter. But at night it is the quietest place I have ever stayed in Paris. The beds are comfortable, and the place was spotless. It is an incredible bargain and a little like being in La Boheme surrounded by the owner's paintings. I highly recommend this property!

We really enjoyed our stay chez Frederic. He is a nice and gentle host! Metro station and the supermarket were in short distance and You could make easy and nice neighbourhoodwalks in this area. We stay there for 4 nights with 3 adults and this was comfortable, although the appartement is like a loft without walls between the "rooms". It is a very nice alternative to a anymous hotelroom and I would recommend it without doubts!
