Property was a very nice old building, the garden was very useful as we had our dog with us . It was clean and beds were very comfortable. It was also a great location for what we needed.
There wasn’t anything we really disliked but there was a couple of things that could be improved - sofa could do with replacing, the dining room looked as if it was undergoing repairs which didn’t worry us but would have liked if it was mentioned before we got there, net curtains in large bathroom was mouldy but otherwise everything was good.

It was just stunning. Not for everyone I wouldn’t think but we were happy with it. Roomy and comfortable. Hardly any road noise during the night although we did keep the windows shut.
The crack in the ceiling in the dining room. The huge cobwebs between the windows and the secondary glazing. The damp in the larger bathroom on the windows and nets. None of these things bothered us though. One of the duvets looked like it had a blood stain on it. This was not rectified during our stay even though we reported it so that wasn’t very pleasant.

The property itself is beautiful, and really well located for Dunster village/castle, and Minehead. There is a good sized back garden and convenient parking directly outside the cottage.
Lovely comfy beds. Very spacious inside the cottage - large kitchen with good appliances.
Lovely bottle of wine left in fridge for us.
The property feels unloved and uncared for. It needs redecorating as there are marks on walls and chipped gloss work; many of the rooms have no pictures on the walls so it feels stark and sterile; the garden furniture looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in weeks; there are no cleaning products provided to assist guests in keeping it hygienic (surprising, considering Covid is still around); there was about 2 squirts of hand wash in the bottom of a bottle provided in the bathroom - fortunately we did a bit of hunting in the cupboard and found a spare (same with walking up liquid); only 2 of the cheapest, nastiest toilet rolls provided to go between both toilets; no oven gloves as previously commented on by previous guests; no curtain in the bathroom so you have to shower with no light on otherwise you’d be in a goldfish bowl for all to see; cutlery drawer was covered in brown, sticky stain; rubbish strewn over garden from previous guests that nobody has bothered picking up…..
The list above details a collection of lots of little things, ALL of which would be so easy to correct. It just feels so mean and as if the owners are not prepared to spend a little on the small things - I’m sure if they did, it would rent for a higher fee and they’d get the money back!
We’ve stayed in so many holiday cottages and never experienced meanness like this before, and sadly it leads to negative reviews when, with a bit of attention to detail and some care, this could be a WONDERFUL holiday cottage. Such a shame.

Great value. Impeccably clean. Very well set up: good fitted kitchen, lovely bathrooms, very effective central heating, hard flooring where one wants it so that, for example, one can carry shopping through to the kitchen without worrying about dirtying the carpets. Dog-friendly: plenty of room for a dog bed in the kitchen and a secure garden of good size. Good walks from the house, to Dunster Beach, the Castle grounds and the hilltop folly (there's an underpass so you don't have to risk the A39 traffic). Dunster village is lovely, of course.
If you're looking for peace and quiet you won't want to be so close to the A39, and its proximity might worry you if you have dogs or small children. On the other hand the local song thrush does a good job of drowning out most of the traffic noise and, of course, you're well placed for driving to the north Exmoor honeypots.
The fridge and freezer are rather small for a 6-guest house (but the Minehead supermarkets are only a short drive away).

Very clean and comfortable
Close to a main road but that’s not the owners fault
