Location perfect for walking. Could get to it on a bus route.

Lovely decorated compact cosy cottage a few minutes walk from centre of Middleton in Teesdale.
Lack of private outdoor space front area is an open space shared with other accommodations.

Cottage is hidden away from the main village thoroughfare and lovely and quiet. Access to the front door by car is challenging and our host provided good advice, so suss it out on foot before tackling the tight corners down the alleyway.
It’s a 'one up, one down’ cottage but is extremely well equipped. The kitchenette is a small one-person galley, but with good quality dishwasher, coffee machine, toaster and plenty of crockery and cutlery. When self-catering, we invariably take some back-up utensils, having been caught out with omissions: not so this time and we appreciated the unexpected welcome basket of goodies.
Upstairs the double bed is of a generous size and there’s adequate storage. The shower room is spacious; the shower itself is excellent and the toiletries most welcome.
Our host was very helpful and welcoming and we look forward to a return visit. The house apart, there are lovely river, waterfall and hill walks to enjoy.
Nothing to dislike at all. The duvet was a shade too warm but that’s more an observation than a complaint. Our whole experience was extremely positive.

Spacious bedroom with plenty of storage. Very comfy bed. Bathroom very clean with a great shower. Lovely welcome basket. Great location. Cosy and clean. Lovely log fire.
Kitchen was a little cramped, but did have good quality appliances.

We liked this small self catering house because the owner seemed to have thought of everything including a great welcoming pack. Middleton in Teesdale is well situated for wonderful walks and other facilities including castles.

Comfortable cosy cottage in the middle of Middleton. Well equipped and warm. Generous welcome hamper.

The property was extremely clean and very nicely decorated. We appreciated the little attentions and very clear information. The upstairs was very pretty and clean.
The kitchen was a bit small and hard to use for tall people. But we understand this is not something that can changed. There is an issue with the tap as it makes quite disturbing noises.

I would highly recommend Hush Cottage, its in a stunning location, plenty of walks that start close by the property, 10 mins drive from high and low force waterfalls, owners made us feel very welcome and left us a wonderful welcome basket, I would definitely book again and recommend this property to my family and friends.

The scents in the rooms were to strong. But that might just be us

An extremely cosy, delightful cottage for a peaceful Xmas break. A very generous welcome hamper was much appreciated, as was the woodburning stove! Cottage located very near the main square in Middleton, with handy shops for provisions. Accessible by public transport too. Lovely local walks direct from the cottage. Would happily return!

Beautifully refurbished cottage with all the necessary facilities! Ideal for a cosy romantic break. Well located in the pretty village of Middleton.
The only (very minor) downside is the parking - you need to park on the main road or a side road opposite which is about 2 mins walk from the cottage. It's not difficult to find a space but it is a bit of a trek with your bags if you are staying a few days.

Perfect base for walks in the area. Two very good public houses with restaurants in the village, the French owned one is excellent.
Difficulty in parking outside the property. It is possible and I did manage it but its very tight. This should be highlighted more prominently in the facilities for Hush Cottage. We booked on the strength parking was available but only found out afterwards it is recommended you park on the main road, a short distance away and not in sight of the cottage.

Clean, warm, and generally well-equipped. Helpful instructions (but please add info on where to play DVDs under the TV heading). Good range of local information available to borrow in the house. Friendly and helpful initial contact from owner. Nice village and lovely area.
These are all only small issues. The heating came on at the wrong times for us. Mattress too soft for our taste. We banged our heads in the under-stairs "kitchen" more than once. Plenty of huge cups but no small ones - so not great for coffee drinker. No tea strainer and more importantly no tea cosy - we like the second cup of tea to still be hot! No explanation of DVD player - we finally found it when tidying to leave so didn't get to watch planned film. Parking at the house is tricky (we were warned) but do-able. Alternative (on main road) felt scary - "don't park here" messages in windows of properties alongside. Welcome basket was full of all the things we try to avoid - we would rather have not had it and paid slightly less, or at least have had something more healthy in it. As we said - all minor issues.

Super comfy bed. Brilliant location hosts very friendly and helpful. Lovely town/ location. Brilliant weather!
The cottage was spotlessly clean and very well presented however we found the ground floor a little small

Excellent location for our walking outings and plenty of informative information in the cottage. Locals all very friendly and plenty of places to eat if you didn"t want to cook after a long day walking. The cottage is well equipped with everything you need from washing-up liquid, tea-towels etc to plenty of logs for the log burner. The welcome hamper was a lovely surprise.
The down side is that if you have a large car the cottage is difficult to get to, nowhere to turn round. We parked across the main road in a nearby cul-de-sac.
